Castaic Lake Fishing Report 11/02/25
Castaic Lake Report 11-02-2025
Largemouth and Smallmouth Bass:
Still a good topwater bite from mid-morning til closing time. Megabass Karashi’s, Bait Merchant Riser Baits and C3 Baits Flukensteins cast to spot boils are getting bit by mostly two pound average Largemouth. Look for coves and areas that don’t have heavy algae blooms, most of which are in the Fish Arm of the lake. Small jigging spoons or KastMasters fished near the bottom in thirty to forty five feet of water are producing quality Smallmouth, Largemouth and the occasional Striped Bass. Fish these in the middle of the coves instead of near the shoreline to intercept fish as they come in from deeper water. Live Shad fishing is providing good topwater action and also a good bite on the dropshot rig in the same areas as spooning..
Striped Bass:
The huge main-lake schools of Summer Stripers have moved into the the bigger coves and are in with the other Bass species. There are a few sporadic boils near the shoreline at times but the best action is on jigging spoons in deeper water. There were some major afternoon blowups in the very back of Dry Gulch mid-week. It happens fast, seemingly out of nowhere so there is some luck involved to be in the right place at the right time. Trolling and bait fishing is slow to slower.
