The Shimano Current Sniper Jig is an outstanding jig under many circumstances and water conditions.  It can be fished on the surface or deep, vertical or horizontal, and it flat out catches fish.  We like it for it's versatility and color patterns. 

This was previously known as the Coltsniper.

The smaller sizes can be fished for freshwater largemouth bass or striped bass as well as tuna and yellowtail.   If fishing the smaller sizes for larger fish, we recommend changing the hooks and split rings to a stronger grade. 

When fished vertically, cast or drop straight down, let it sink down to the depth you want, then wind it back with or without rod pumps.  For horizontal or surface fishing, make a long cast and retrieve at a steady pace with no rod twitches.

The Halco Max 130 is a great trolling and casting lure for salt and freshwater species.  The Max 130 can be trolled at high speeds of up to 12 knots and has very little trolling resistance due to it's slender profile.  The slim tail design gives it excellent hook exposure for great hook sets.  

Crafted in Australia, Halco engineered the Max 130 to hook fish and stand up to the mightiest catches. Its construction, including hooks, split rings, and hardware, are robust—capable of bringing in tuna up to hundreds of pounds. Furthermore, with a variety of attractive colors, you can easily find the ideal lure for your fishing conditions.

Although mainly a trolling lure, the Max 130 can be used in a cast and retrieve method as well.  Use a high speed reel and burn it back for the correct action on the lure.  It measures 5 1/2" and 2.82 ounces.  Give it a try on tuna, yellowtail, barracuda, wahoo, stripers, and many other aggressive species.  

The hooks and hardware on all Halco products is as tough as it gets.  You can fish them with confidence, even on tuna over 300lbs.  The split rings and treble hooks are 4X strong and with the wire through construction, the fish will give up far before the lure will.  

The finish is second to none with bright colors and extreme details.  No small detail has been overlooked and is certain to catch fish from The Gulf to Southern California.  Tie on a Halco Max 130 and hang on tight.

The Tady 45 Surface Iron is the king of surface irons.  Works great for tuna, yellowtail, calico bass, wahoo, dorado, barracuda, and even white sea bass.  Simply cast it as far as you can and wind it straight back to the boat with a fast retrieve.  

There is no need to impart action into the jig, just point the rod tip at it and wind it back.  You may need to allow it to sink just a little under the surface before you start winding so it catches water.  

We prefer throwing irons on 30# or 40# monofilament line in general but the size of the fish being caught, the size of your reel, and the weight of the jig all play a part in deciding what line to use.

The hooks may change depending on the availability at the Tady warehouse.  Don't worry though, they all catch fish and they are all plenty strong.

Color and hook manufacturer varies on each lure and may not be exactly like the picture shows.  Scratches are common on all Tady Lures, they get scratched in transit to us  and these scratches don't impact the ability to catch fish.

The Salas 7X Light Surface Iron Jig is one of the most iconic surface irons in existence. It's easy to fish and like all Salas, it gets bit.  Cast it as far as you can, let it sink for a couple seconds, and then a nice steady retrieve back.  Not too slow and not too fast, just enough so that a methodical erratic action takes place.  

Salas is hand made in Southern California and has been proven time and time again.  Each one has superior paint jobs and a thick clear coat that will stand up over time but even if the paint comes off, they still get bit.  We've found they get bit even better when the paint has scratches and looks a little beat up.  Yellowtail have teeth and can be very aggressive, this over time will remove the paint and clear coat.  Many panga fisherman like to scrape them on the launch ramp to get some of the paint off.  

Try out different colors, fish will eat them all but sometimes they will bite one color more than another.  We generally like to fish darker colors in low light conditions and lighter colors when there is more sun.

The Salas 6X Yo-Yo Iron Jig is a yellowtail catching machine.  The shape and color of these heavy jigs creates the illusion of a fleeing baitfish from the depths.  It triggers a bite from a variety of species but yellowtail off the Southern California coast is the main reason we use these jigs.

Simply drop it down to the bottom or desired depth, put the reel in gear and bring it back at a fast but steady retrieve.  If they are there, they will eat it!

The lure may spin as it come up, that is ok and gets bit really well.  You are trying to get a reaction out of the fish and if it looks like it's going to get away, a yellowtail will hunt it down.  Hang on tight though, when they hit it they will hit it hard.  

The hook and rings are heavy enough for most yellowtail but you can also catch tuna on them.  Usually they like chrome or chrome blue, but they will eat other colors.  Barracuda and dorado will also bite any Salas Lure as long as it's moving fast.

The paint may differ since they are hand made.  Often times the pain get's chipped in shipping to us, being shipped in bulk. It doesn't change the fish catching ability of the jig.  It's going to chip when it hits the bottom and get all scratched up on the fight back to the boat. DO NOT let this affect your confidence on your fish catching abilities. We have all seen the jigs that have little to no paint left on them that get bit just fine if not better.  If you have questions, feel free to call us.

The Tady 4/0 Iron is a heavy yoyo iron for vertical deep water jigging for yellowtail and bottom fish.  It works best for fish on deep structure or if you need to get jig to fall fast through the column to get past unwanted species.  The Tady 4/0 is one of our favorite heavy jigs, simply let if fall to the desired depth and then wind it up as fast as you can.  You can also pull the tip up fast and then drop the tip and repeat.  These are deadly on yellowtail and tuna!

The Submission Fishing Jigs Sumo is so versatile that when it's tied on the eye side, the heavy belly of the jig will slide through the water column allowing you to fish underneath docks, pilings, and other hard to reach places.  When tied from the belly side, it will have a more traditional vertical fall. Hookup Baits Small Jig gives a whole new meaning to a "Mini Jig", these have an action like now other.  With a spiral action on the fall and an erratic dart action with a pop of the rod tip. Great to fool any stocker trout and subtle enough to entices the big natural browns.

There are many ways to fish the hookup bait but casting it out and letting it fall on a tight line will pendulum it down in an arc.  This can be very effective since it allows the bait to swim as it falls.  This is effective when fish are suspended in the column and not on the top or bottom.

If fish are on the bottom, we like to let it sink to the bottom and pop it off the bottom and then allowing it to sink back down.  Continue this retrieve all the way back to the boat or shore.

If they are in the upper part of the column, cast and start retrieving soon after the lure hits the surface.  Most of the time a slow and steady retrieve works best but you can also burn it on the surface for very active surface feeding fish.

Owner Mutu Circle Hooks are made using a 2X strong shank. They are rated for use up to 50lb test line. This is the preferred hook for tuna fishing in Southern California on small grade fish, say up to 60 pounds.  

This medium diameter hook doesn't damage the bait as much as a thicker hook, this allows the bait to swim more freely.  Sometimes reducing the hook size will produce more bites and this hook is still very strong even in the smaller sizes.  

Just remember to not swing the rod when you get bit, simply turn the handle on the reel until it comes tight and the line starts ripping off the reel.  

JRI Custom Lures JRI-66 Yo-Yo Iron Jigs come in a very familiar and deadly profile but much heavier due to its brass construction.
