Saltwater Power Assisted Reels

Shimano Beastmaster 9000 B Electric Reel is built for extreme-depth fishing when repeated manual retrieves would take the fight out of the angler. Its high-torque GigaMax motor, HAGANE Body and Gear construction, digital display, variable speed control, and manual override bring controlled electric power to deep-drop and heavy offshore work.

Use it for swordfish, tuna, tilefish, grouper, snapper, halibut, rockfish, lingcod, marlin, and sailfish applications where heavy sinker rigs, deep structure, or multi-drop sessions demand more than a standard conventional reel can comfortably deliver.

When Deep Water Starts Taking More Than Line

At extreme depth, the challenge is not only getting the rig down. It is recovering heavy line and sinkers repeatedly while staying ready for the next drop. The Beastmaster 9000 B reduces that repetitive workload with variable electric retrieve control, while the manual override keeps the angler connected when hands-on control matters. The trade-off is a larger, more specialized setup than a standard star-drag or lever-drag reel, but the added power is the point.

Deep-Drop Power in a Low-Profile Package

The Daiwa Tanacom S brings the muscle of a full-size Dendoh reel into a compact, low-profile frame that fits naturally in your hands and on your rod. Whether you're dropping baits to 600 feet for swordfish or working deep structure for grouper and tilefish, the Tanacom S delivers the power-assisted retrieve that turns a grueling grind into a controlled, efficient operation.

Built for the Talica Series — and Beyond

The Tanacom S is Daiwa's answer to anglers who want the efficiency of electric-assist fishing without the bulk of a traditional Dendoh setup. The low-profile body keeps the reel close to the rod blank for better balance and reduced fatigue on long drops, while the power-assist motor handles the heavy lifting on the way back up.

Why Manual Reeling Falls Short at Depth

At 400–800 feet, manually cranking up a heavy bait rig — or a fish — is exhausting and slow. The Tanacom S solves this with a built-in power-assist system that retrieves line at a consistent, controlled speed, reducing angler fatigue and keeping your bait or catch coming up smoothly without the risk of burning out your arms mid-fight.

What Sets It Apart from Standard Conventional Reels

• Low-profile Dendoh design — more ergonomic than traditional upright electric reels, better balance on the rod
• Power-assisted retrieve — motor-driven line recovery for deep-drop efficiency
• Precise depth control — know exactly where your bait is at all times
• Daiwa build quality — engineered for the demands of offshore saltwater fishing
• Compact form factor — easier to store, transport, and handle on a crowded boat

Tackle Express Tips

• Use a dedicated deep-drop rod — pair the Tanacom S with a heavy-action stand-up or deep-drop rod rated for the line class you're fishing. The reel's power is only as good as the rod it's matched with.
• Keep your battery connection clean — power-assist reels depend on a solid electrical connection. Check terminals before every trip and carry a spare fuse.
• Set your depth counter before the drop — zero out the counter at the surface so you know exactly where your bait is sitting. Precision depth placement is one of the biggest advantages of fishing a Dendoh reel.

FAQ

What is a Dendoh reel and how is it different from a standard electric reel?
A Dendoh reel is a power-assisted conventional reel — it uses a motor to help retrieve line, but it's not fully automatic like a traditional electric reel. The Tanacom S gives you motor-assisted cranking power while keeping you in control of the retrieve speed and feel. The low-profile design also makes it more ergonomic than upright electric reels.

What depths is the Tanacom S designed for?
The Tanacom S is built for serious deep-drop applications — typically 200 to 800+ feet. It's ideal for swordfish, tilefish, and deep grouper where manual retrieval is impractical and precise depth control is critical.

Does the Tanacom S require a separate battery or power source?
Yes — like all power-assist reels, the Tanacom S requires a 12V power source (typically a dedicated marine battery or boat power supply). Make sure your boat is set up with the appropriate power connection before your trip.
