Why the Heavy Models Are So Long

On a rail rod, a large share of the length is foregrip. Once that foregrip is laid on the rail, you may have only four or five feet of blank actually fighting the fish. The more rod you have outside the rail on the water side, the more the fish has to work against — and the fulcrum becomes the boat instead of your arms and back.
