Castaic Lake Fishing Report 10/12/25
Castaic Lake Report 10-12-2025
Largemouth and Smallmouth Bass:
Excellent fishing continued this week despite some heavy winds towards the weekend. Bass averaging two to three pounds are eating surface baits in the morning and again in the afternoon. Custom painted 007 Bait Merchant Riser Baits along with Lucky Craft Sammyβs, and C3 Baits Flukensteinβs in Shad patterns continue to dominate most lure choices. Dropshot rigs and light Carolina rigs fished deeper are getting the attention of some truly large fish lately. There is also a formidable crankbait bite with medium divers in Shad patterns to be had.
Striped Bass:
Steady surface action marches on with schools of six pound average fish. The bite goes most of the day, with some of the best action being late morning thru mid-day. The Ski Arm is still the main focus, between the West ramp and the island, the jet ski buoy line and around Center Point. Espetit 95βs and Lucky Craft Sammy 100βs work as well or better than any other lures. Look for these schools to migrate into the coves as the water cools off in the coming weeks, making it easier to target and stay connected with the schools without a lot of running around. Angler etiquitte will come into play as the playground gets smaller.
