Castaic Lake Report 09-07-2025

Largemouth and Smallmouth Bass:

As water levels, water and air temps stabilized a bit this week, fishing returned to it’s normal consistency as all bites seemed to improve mid-week. Good  Surface action on small topwater baits like Bait Merchant Riser Bait’s, Megabass Karashi’s and C3 Baits Flukenstein’s were effective til mid-morning. Once the fish sink out to the twenty foot depth range the dropshot rig fished on main-lake points and steep rocks remained effective, producing some quality bites going into the weekend. Any of the C3 Baits or Bait Merchant finesse worms in the Neptune Shad pattern continue to produce throughout the day. Wacky rigged Senko’s and C3 Baits Slim Pro’s are also putting some nicer fish in the net. Definitly an uptick in fish size this week as the Fall pattern approaches.

Striped Bass:

There have been a few boils in the mornings and afternoons in both arms of the lake, as the fish spread out into the mouths of coves and deeper shorelines. Espetit 95’s in the White Flash pattern are producing better than average fish in the seven pound range. There is something about this bait that gets the attention of the bigger Stripers and Largemouth. Riser baits are getting bit also, but their smaller hooks are questionable on the bigger fish.
