The One You Can Wear to Lunch

Most deck boots look like deck boots. Chocolate Tan does not. The XTRATUF 22734 Ankle Deck Boot is the colorway you can wear off the boat, into the tackle shop, and to breakfast afterward without looking like you are still on the job. Same 6 in slip-on build, same Chevron outsole, same waterproof rubber — in a brown-on-tan finish that reads closer to a casual boot than a piece of fishing gear.

Not sure which model fits your fishing? The XTRATUF Boots Buyer's Guide breaks down Ankle Deck vs. Wheelhouse vs. 12 in Legacy.

Why the Ankle Deck Boot Works

Style #22734 uses the same slip-resistant, non-marking Chevron outsole as the XTRATUF Legacy boots, wrapped in a lightweight hand-layered rubber upper. The XPRESSCOOL liner is an anti-microbial evaporative lining that regulates foot temperature — it works in both directions, so the boot is comfortable on a cold morning run and a hot afternoon on the hook.

Front and rear pull-on tabs give you leverage getting in and out over a thick sock. The non-marking sole means no scuffs on a fiberglass deck, and it means the same thing on a hardwood floor at home.

This is an Explorer Grade boot — sport and recreational, not commercial. Deckhands should see the Wheelhouse.

Sizing: Order Up on Half Sizes

XTRATUF recommends that half sizes order up. A 10.5 buys the 11. Do not size down — you need the room for a real sock, and a rubber boot with no sock room is a blister factory.

The Right Pick If...

  • You want one waterproof boot that works on the boat and off it
  • You drive to the launch, fish, and stop somewhere on the way home
  • You want a warmer, less industrial look than black or navy
  • You need non-marking, slip-resistant traction on wet decks
  • You are a sport or recreational angler, not a commercial deckhand

Tackle Express Tips

  • Wipe the tan panels down, do not scrub them. Lighter rubber picks up scuff transfer from dark surfaces. A damp rag after each trip keeps it looking sharp; abrasive pads dull the finish permanently.
  • Rinse after every saltwater trip. Salt works into the rubber and cracks it at the flex points. Thirty seconds with a hose roughly doubles boot life.
  • Never store them folded. Creased hand-layered rubber weakens at the fold, and that is the first place these boots fail.

FAQ

Is Chocolate Tan a different build from the other colorways?
No. Construction and specs are identical across 22733, 22734, 22735 and 22736. Chocolate Tan is the colorway that reads least like fishing gear off the water.

Do XTRATUF Ankle Deck Boots run true to size?
True in whole sizes. Half sizes should order up per XTRATUF. This is the opposite of the Wheelhouse, which is built wider and sizes down.

Will the light-colored sole mark a deck?
No. The Chevron outsole is non-marking on fiberglass, and it will not scuff hardwood or tile at home either.

Are these commercial grade?
No. Explorer Grade — hand-layered rubber for sport and recreational use. For commercial work, see the Wheelhouse Brown.
