It is built on a genuine women's last — a narrower shaft (11.69 in circumference versus 12.6 in on the men's), a lower toe box, and a heel pocket that actually holds. That difference is what keeps the boot on your foot when you step over a coaming with wet hands full of gear.

Why the Ankle Deck Boot Works

It carries the same slip-resistant, non-marking Chevron outsole found on XTRATUF's Legacy boots, in a lightweight hand-layered rubber upper you can slip on and off without sitting down. The XPRESSCOOL liner is an anti-microbial evaporative lining that regulates foot temperature in both directions — warm feet on a cold morning run, cool feet on a hot afternoon.

Pull-on tabs give you leverage over a heavy sock. The non-marking outsole means no scuffs on gelcoat, which matters when you are a guest on someone else's boat.

XTRATUF recommends that half sizes order up. A women's 8.5 buys the 9. The women's last is narrower than the men's, so if you have a wide foot or a high instep and have worn men's XTRATUF before, expect a snugger fit here — size up and wear a midweight sock rather than trying to squeeze into your usual number.

• Do not buy your street shoe size out of habit. The 6 in shaft and narrower women's last mean sock thickness matters more than in a sneaker. If you are a half size, go up and wear a midweight wool sock.

FAQ

How is this different from just buying a small men's size?
The shaft is narrower (11.69 in vs. 12.6 in), the toe box is lower (1.13 in vs. 1.19 in), and the heel pocket is shaped for a woman's foot. A downsized men's boot slips at the heel and gaps at the ankle — this one does not.

Do these run true to size?
