The Deps Slide Swimmer 300 puts a true giant-bait profile in front of trophy bass. At 300 mm (11.8 inches) and 10 oz, this floating glide bait combines the Slide Swimmer series' soft outer shell with a powerful, jointed swimming action. It is the largest model in the Deps Slide Swimmer trophy-bass lineup, made for anglers who would rather commit to a big-fish presentation than downsize for more bites.

A steady retrieve produces a smooth S-shaped swim, while twitches and short jerks add abrupt changes of direction. The substantial body moves plenty of water, giving you a large-forage presentation for fish feeding on trout or shad. Hooks are not included. Choose hooks and hardware for your target species, and check the finished bait's balance before fishing.

Give Big Fish a Meal Worth Following

When smaller offerings do not match the forage you are seeing, the 300 offers a much larger silhouette without relying on a fast retrieve. Its soft shell adds lifelike texture and cushions contact between the body sections. The trade-off is commitment: this is a specialized giant swimbait that requires appropriately rated tackle, casting room, and patience. Choose it for deliberate trophy hunting, not as an everyday bait for light gear or tight cover.

Best For Big-Forage Water

Best for trophy largemouth bass, open-water glide-bait presentations, and working outside points, offshore structure, and baitfish travel routes with room for the lure to turn. Clear to moderately clear water is a useful starting point for watching the bait and following fish. Select the Hatchery Trout finish when matching trout forage, or a shad finish when matching local shad. Let the forage and fish response guide the choice rather than treating any color as a guarantee.

What Makes the 300 Different

  • Giant 300 mm profile: a substantial presentation for anglers targeting trophy-class predators.
  • Soft-shell construction: combines a rigid core with a flexible exterior for distinctive texture and movement.
  • Spring-weight micro-vibration system: head-mounted weights add subtle vibration and a knocking sound during rod input.
  • Water-through duct: channels water between the core and shell and releases it at the joint.
  • Bumper fins: help stabilize the action and reduce hook tangles.
  • Floating design: allows hook selection to suit the application; installed hardware affects the finished balance.
  • Three Butch Brown finishes: Gizzard Shad #18, Hatchery Trout #19, and American Shad #38.

Start Smooth, Then Change the Cadence

Begin with a steady retrieve where you can see the bait and learn how it swims with your chosen hardware. Add a short twitch or measured reel turn to change direction, then give the lure room to finish its movement. When a fish follows, vary one thing at a time instead of immediately speeding up. Use a rod rated for the complete rigged lure weight, a suitable reel, and line appropriate for giant-bait casting.

If you want a smaller presentation within the same family, compare the Deps Slide Swimmer 250. For a further step down in profile, consider the Deps Slide Swimmer 175. The 300 is the choice when a giant silhouette is the point of the presentation.

Tackle Express Tips

  • Check flotation and swimming balance in the water after installing or changing hooks and split rings. Do not assume every hardware combination will behave the same way.
  • Make controlled casts with tackle rated for the rigged bait, and inspect your line, knots, and hardware regularly.
  • Dry the bait after use and store it separately in a supportive case. Avoid direct heat, hot vehicles, and contact with other lures that could damage or discolor the shell.

Before You Rig It

Does the Slide Swimmer 300 include hooks?
No. It is supplied without hooks so you can select hardware for your target fish. Deps lists #3/0 treble hooks and #5 split rings as a starting recommendation for black bass; test the complete setup before fishing.

Is it floating or slow sinking?
This 300 model is classified as floating. Hook size, wire thickness, and other added hardware can change its balance and buoyancy.

What retrieve should I start with?
Start with a straight retrieve for a smooth S-shaped swim, then try short twitches or jerks to introduce a directional change. Watch the lure respond before adding more input.

Can I throw it on my regular bass rod?
Use the rod manufacturer's lure rating as your guide. This is a 10 oz bait before your chosen hardware, so it needs a setup designed to cast the complete rigged weight.
