The Shimano Current SniperΒ Jig is an outstanding jig under many circumstances and water conditions.Β It can be fished on the surface or deep, vertical or horizontal, and it flat out catches fish.Β We like it for it's versatility and color patterns.Β
This was previously known as the Coltsniper.
The smaller sizes can be fished for freshwater largemouth bass or striped bass as well as tuna and yellowtail.Β Β If fishing the smaller sizes for larger fish, we recommend changing the hooks and split rings to a stronger grade.Β
When fished vertically, cast or drop straight down, let it sink down to the depth you want, then wind it back with or without rod pumps.Β For horizontal or surface fishing, make a long cast and retrieve at a steady pace with no rod twitches.Β

The Tady 45 Surface Iron is the king of surface irons. Β Works great for tuna, yellowtail, calico bass, wahoo, dorado, barracuda, and even white sea bass.Β Simply cast it as far as you can and wind it straight back to the boat with a fast retrieve. Β
There is no need to impart action into the jig, just point the rod tip at it and wind it back. Β You may need to allow it to sink just a little under the surface before you start winding so it catches water. Β
We prefer throwing irons on 30# or 40# monofilament line in general but the size of the fish being caught, the size of your reel, and the weight of the jig all play a part in deciding what line to use.
The hooks may change depending on the availability at the Tady warehouse. Β Don't worry though, they all catch fish and they are all plenty strong.
Color and hook manufacturer varies on each lure and may not be exactly like the picture shows. Β Scratches are common on all Tady Lures, they get scratched in transit to usΒ and these scratches don't impact the ability to catch fish.
The Salas 7X Light Surface Iron JigΒ is one of the most iconic surface irons in existence. It's easy to fish and like all Salas, it gets bit. Β Cast it as far as you can, let it sink for a couple seconds, and then a nice steady retrieve back. Β Not too slow and not too fast, just enough so that a methodical erratic action takes place. Β
Salas is hand made in Southern California and has been proven time and time again.Β Each one has superior paint jobs and a thick clear coat that will stand up over time but even if the paint comes off, they still get bit.Β We've found they get bit even better when the paint has scratches and looks a little beat up.Β Yellowtail have teeth and can be very aggressive, this over time will remove the paint and clear coat.Β Many panga fisherman like to scrape them on the launch ramp to get some of the paint off.Β Β
Try out different colors, fish will eat them all but sometimes they will bite one color more than another.Β We generally like to fish darker colors in low light conditions and lighter colors when there is more sun.

The Salas 6X Yo-Yo Iron Jig is a yellowtail catching machine. Β The shape and color of these heavy jigs creates the illusion of a fleeing baitfish from the depths. Β It triggers a bite from a variety of species but yellowtail off the Southern California coast is the main reason we use these jigs.
Simply drop it down to the bottom or desired depth, put the reel in gear and bring it back at a fast but steady retrieve. Β If they are there, they will eat it!
The lure may spin as it come up, that is ok and gets bit really well.Β You are trying to get a reaction out of the fish and if it looks like it's going to get away, a yellowtail will hunt it down.Β Hang on tight though, when they hit it they willΒ hit it hard.Β Β
The hook and rings are heavy enough for most yellowtail but you can also catch tuna on them.Β Usually they like chrome or chrome blue, but they will eat other colors.Β Barracuda and dorado will also bite any Salas Lure as long as it's moving fast.Β Β

The paint may differ since they are hand made.Β Often times the pain get's chipped in shipping to us, being shipped in bulk. It doesn't change the fish catching ability of the jig.Β It's going to chip when it hits the bottom and get all scratched up on the fight back to the boat. DO NOTΒ let this affect your confidence on your fish catching abilities.Β We have all seen the jigs that have little to no paint left on them that get bit just fine if not better.Β If you have questions, feel free to call us.

The Salas 6X Jr Yo-Yo Iron JigsΒ is perfect when you're trying to mimic a mid-sized bait.Β The smaller model of the regular Salas 6x, the Jr. is smaller and lighter which makes it fall slower through the water column.Β It's also great if the fish aren't in deep water or they are feeding on smaller bait.Β Both eyes are welded and it comes with a very strong 3X strong hook.Β Sometimes the paint will get in the eye of the jig where the ring passes through.Β We suggest that you clean out this eye to increase the action of the bait.Β The hook shouldΒ move freely and a small piece of single strand 30# AFW Toothproof wire 6" long attached to the front of the jig will cause a different action, try it out.Β Β
You can cast the jig long distances or drop it straight under the boat.Β We drop it down to the desired depth, usually the bottom, and retrieve it back as quickly as possible.Β 30-40lb line is best and a 7 foot rod 20-40lb line rating.Β Β

The Tady 4/0Β Iron is a heavy yoyo iron for vertical deep water jigging for yellowtail and bottom fish. Β It works best for fish on deep structure or if you need to get jig to fall fast through the column to get past unwanted species. Β The Tady 4/0 is one of our favorite heavy jigs, simply let if fall to the desired depth and then wind it up as fast as you can. Β You can also pull the tip up fast and then drop the tip and repeat. Β These are deadly on yellowtail and tuna! Β

Β Simply drop it down and wind it back up at a quick steady pace. We like 30 or 40 pound monofilament line for either your main line or your top shot.

The Daiwa Zakana Jigs come in a wide variety of colors and sizes with its recognizable large black eyes.Β
Engineered to be both aerodynamic and hydrodynamic, this jig can be casted very long distances with little movement in the air with unmatched accuracy and has the ability once it enters the water to swim and move ever so subtle as a helpless lonely bait fish in the abyss.Β
Built with VMC 9626 high quality hooks and wire through design makes this jig one of the best performing in its class. This match the hatch to local baitfish casting jig can be casted, jigged or even in some cases trolled.Β Β
Features:
REAR WEIGHT DESIGN -Β A design that allows for maximum casting distance, even in smaller sizes. A rear weighted design also allows for more side to side kick when swimming the lure on the retrieve.
WIRE-THROUGH DESIGN -Β Designed for maximum durability. A wire through construction will hold up to violent strikes that would cause issues with standard screw-in hardware.
HORIZONTAL LINE TIE -Β Allows for a wider, more unrestricted swimming action than a typical line tie.
HEAVY DUTY HARDWARE -Β Upgraded heavy duty hooks and split rings for the toughest of predators.
Β When fish are breaking the surface or just subsurface, the Shimano Current SniperΒ Sinking Stickbait is going to be deadly! Β This sinking stickbait is perfect for when fish are feeding on the surface and uses superior finishes and stout 3X strong hooks and split rings. Β There are several retrieval methods that can be used effectively on many different predator fish.Β Β
This was previously known as the Coltsniper.
Subsurface walk-the-dog is a very effective method and creates the illusion of a fleeing baitfish. Β This can be more easily created using a spinning setup like the Shimano Thunnus and Shimano Terez but conventional rods and reels may also be used. Moving the rod tip while winding the reel with short pauses will cuase the bait to move left and right. Β It's very important to give the lure some slack after pulling it each time. Β If slack isn't given after each pull, the lure will not have the line needed to glide momentarily before you pull it again. Β Skipping the lure on the surface is also a technique that can invoke a strike. Cast as far as you can and don't let it sink out. Β Wind back the lure as fast as you can so that it skips on the surface.
We are excited to use the Shimano Current SniperΒ Stickbait on yellowtail, tuna, calico bass and striper here in Southern California. Β We are sure it will work for any agressive predator fish you have. Β Ideally we would use a 8,000 to 12,000 size Shimano Thunus or Stella spinning reel and an 8' to 9' Shimano Terez or Ocea Plugger spinning rod. Β Line class is going to depend on what you are fishing for but 50-80lb Power Pro with a 4-7 foot monofilament or fluorocarbon leader would be ideal. Β The leader size will differ but 30-50lb line would be normal range for this type of fishing. Β Using a split ring on the nose with a solid ring on the split ring would allow the lure to move correctly. Β You can also tie a loop knot of your chose to allow lure movement. Β

Β The Kicker Pickle Kick boasts exceptional action and impressive durability, making it the perfect bait for repeated catches of calico bass. Unlike other plastic baits that wear out after one or two fish, this bait can withstand even the most aggressive fishing day. The Kicker Booty Spin offers a simple, yet effective design. Through rigorous testing using fluid dynamics, this bait has been proven to have a weedless design, making it an ideal choice for catching fish. Its durable construction ensures a successful fishing experience, with the added bonus of increased drawing power for trophy bass hunting.

Β The Shimano Current SniperΒ Jerkbait is designed with Shimano's unique Propulsion Weight Transfer System for exceptional long distance casting - allowing the internal weight to slide back during the cast, and then springing forward when the lure hits the water. Ideal to target both calico bass and Yellowtail in SoCal waters and stripers on the East coast. Β This was previously known as the Coltsniper.
Along with covering lots of water from lengthy casts - up to 22-percent longer than similar weight and length lures, anglers can work theΒ Currentsniper jerkbait in a tight wobble action, or slide action by jerking it. With a slow floating design, it can be fished down to 3 - to 5-foot depths. Chemical finish treble hooks are featured at both mid-body and at the tail.

Extensive testing with fluid dynamics provides a natural swimming pattern and weedless design, while its durable construction delivers a proven fish-catching action. Experience drawing power and take your trophy bass hunting to the next level.
What we like about it is the incredible action and great durability.Β It's hard find a bait that will withstand repeated catches of calico bass and still be in near perfect shape.Β Other plastic baits are good for one or two fish, but the Kicker Pickle Kick will withstand the most aggressive fishing day.Β Tie one on, you'll see what we're talking about.

The Tady 9 is a thinner and more narrow version of the Tady A2 and Tady AA jigs. Β This makes the jig fall faster due to less drag on the lure. Β It also swims in a tighter pattern for when you need to burn it back when fish are the most active.Β Β
Verticle: To work it vertically, cast it or drop it straight under the boat. Β Let it sink to the desired depth which could range from a few feet to several dozen feet. Β Put the reel in gear and wind it back with a fast retrieve. Β
Horizontal: Β Cast it as far as possible and let it sink for a second or two and wind it straight back to the boat with a Β fast retrieve. Β
YoYo: Β Cast it or drop it straight under the boat, let it sink to the desired depth, and one line is taught and the reel is in gear, drop the rod tip and then lift the rod tip 3-4 feet. Β Drop the rod tip again and repeat without winding the reel. Β After a few minutes if you're not already bit, wind it up a few cranks and repeat. Β
Β There is no need to put any bait or scent on mostΒ TadyΒ jigs, it's a reaction and if the bite is on, they will eat it. Β Bait can actually impair the action of the jig so it's best just to tie straight to the ring on the iron. Β We prefer throwing irons on 30# or 40# line in general but the size of the fish being caught, the size of your reel, and the weight of the jig all play a part in deciding what line to use.
Color and hook manufacturer varies on each lure and may not be exactly like the picture shows. Β Scratches are common on all Tady Lures, they get scratched in transit to us and these scratches don't impact the ability to catch fish.

Hookup Baits Large JigsΒ have to be one of the most popular sizes Hookup Baits produces, the 5/8oz Red Crab and Mint are known as the "White Seabass Special"
There are many ways to fish the hookup bait but casting it out and letting it fall on a tight line will pendulum it down in an arc. Β This can be very effective since it allows the bait to swim as it falls. Β This is effective when fish are suspended in the column and not on the top or bottom.
If fish are on the bottom, we like to let it sink to the bottom and pop it off the bottom and then allowing it to sink back down. Β Continue this retrieve all the way back to the boat or shore.
If they are in the upper part of the column, cast and start retrieving soon after the lure hits the surface. Β Most of the time a slow and steady retrieve works best but you can also burn it on the surface for very active surface feeding fish.
Tie a Hookup Bait on and see what method works best for you. Β The bottom line is these baits get bit on salt and fresh water fish.
