The Only Needle Built the Way a Latch Was Meant to Work

The DaHo Reverse Latch Threading Needle was developed in collaboration with Jerry Brown — a pioneer in hollow spectra fishing line technology — to solve a problem that every serious offshore rigger has run into: standard latch needles damage hollow spectra. Traditional latch needles were adapted from fabric knitting machines and must be pushed into the line, causing the latch to open inside the hollow core and shred the fibers. • Size up when in doubt: If your line falls in the overlap zone between sizes (e.g., 130# sits in both Small and Large ranges), go with the larger needle. A slightly oversized needle is easier to work with than one that's too tight and risks tearing fibers.
• Keep the latch trailing: The reverse latch only works correctly when the latch end is the trailing end as you pull through. If you're getting resistance or fiber catch, check your orientation before forcing it.

FAQ

What makes the DaHo Reverse Latch different from a standard latch needle?

Which size should I choose?

Can I use this needle with non-hollow braid?
No — this needle is designed specifically for hollow spectra and hollow braid. Solid braid has no internal channel for the needle to pass through. For solid braid connections, you'll need a different rigging method.

The Mini Super Clamp is the first clamp of its kind designed to fit smaller reels on skinnier rods. It fits reels that do not come with stock clamps where an aftermarket attachment is a necessity to mount on a deckhand rod. It fits the Lexa 300, Tranx 300, Avet SXJ(non raptor), Trinidad 12 and Trinidad 16NA to name a few. These reels do not come with a stock clamp and have been an issue mounting on deckhand rods for years. With constant requests we took the challenge and now created a clamp for theses smaller reels. While the clamp is extremely versatile it has its limitations on the diameter rod it can be mounted on. The clamp is designed to fit rod diameters between 1 1/8″ – 7/8″ (28MM- 22MM) which is appropriate for the reel class size 10-25lb rods. A single hook is easier to remove, does less damage to fish you plan to release, and causes fewer tangles on a crowded rail. A treble gives more points of contact on a fish that strikes short. Neither is universally better — it comes down to how and where you fish.

Picking a Color

Down deep, light is scarce and contrast matters more than fine detail. High-contrast and bright patterns generally out-produce subtle ones on the yo-yo.

How to Fish the Yo-Yo

Drop it straight down — to the bottom, or to the depth where you're marking fish. The moment it lands, wind as fast as you can turn the handle and keep winding all the way to the boat. Do not pump the rod. Speed is what triggers the bite, and most strikes come partway up rather than at the bottom.

At 6.4 oz the 6X holds vertical better than the Jr weights, so you keep contact in current instead of drifting off the spot. If the jig feels like it's fluttering or vibrating oddly, it's spinning rather than swimming — usually twisted line or an uneven retrieve.

Recommended gear:

• If you only buy one Salas yo-yo iron for local fishing, make it this one — it covers the widest range of local conditions. The wide belly throws more flash than the narrower irons, which is an advantage in dirty water but a liability when fish are spooky. Go narrower if the wide profile is getting refused.
• A slow reel costs you fish. Yo-yo is a speed technique and gear ratio matters more than most anglers expect. Watch your line on the drop too — yellowtail eat it falling, and the only tell is the line going slack early.
• If you fish a crowded rail or release a lot of fish, the single hook option is worth a look. Lock up your drag early over structure — a yellow that gets its head down will find the rocks.

There is perhaps no other jerkbait that is more coveted than the Megabass Vision OneTen.  The tungsten weights increase casting distance and allow for a more slender bait, reducing drag in the water when retrieved.  

The Katsuage hooks that come stock on the Vision 110 are light wire for easy penetration correct balance.  Megabass intends this bait to be fished on light line, preferably 6 to 10lb pound test.  Using light line allows the bait to reach its optimal swimming depth of four to six feet, but also enables the bait to move more freely in the water.  

Retrieved properly, the Vision 110 not only darts from side to side but it does so in an arching fashion shooting up, and then back down as you jerk your rod tip.  Additionally, as the bait is being pulled in the water it moves sideways from top to bottom giving off a color and flash, but it also has a rear movement from side to side.  Heavier line and hooks have the potential to impede action taking the bait out of its factory tuned equilibrium.

The Halco Max 130 is a great trolling and casting lure for salt and freshwater species.  The Max 130 can be trolled at high speeds of up to 12 knots and has very little trolling resistance due to it's slender profile.  The slim tail design gives it excellent hook exposure for great hook sets.  

Crafted in Australia, Halco engineered the Max 130 to hook fish and stand up to the mightiest catches. Its construction, including hooks, split rings, and hardware, are robust—capable of bringing in tuna up to hundreds of pounds. Furthermore, with a variety of attractive colors, you can easily find the ideal lure for your fishing conditions.

Although mainly a trolling lure, the Max 130 can be used in a cast and retrieve method as well.  Use a high speed reel and burn it back for the correct action on the lure.  It measures 5 1/2" and 2.82 ounces.  Give it a try on tuna, yellowtail, barracuda, wahoo, stripers, and many other aggressive species.  

The hooks and hardware on all Halco products is as tough as it gets.  You can fish them with confidence, even on tuna over 300lbs.  The split rings and treble hooks are 4X strong and with the wire through construction, the fish will give up far before the lure will.
