Castaic Lake Fishing Report 09/21/25
Largemouth and Smallmouth Bass:
Excellent surface action continues on Bass averaging one to three pounds, with a few bigger models in the mix. Bait Merchant 007 Riser Baits, Megabass Karashiβs, Lucky Craft Gunfish and Sammy 100βs, and C3 Baits Flukensteinβs are all producing. Despite mid-week monsoonal conditions, there is a heavy algae bloom on the main lake of the Ski Arm, so coves and points in the Fish Arm are better places to start. These fish will use wind and shade lines to ambush the passing schools of baitfish well into the morning in some areas. If youβre not seeing surface activity, move on to another spot, theyβre biting somewhere! The Smallmouth seem to be more concentrated on main lake spots rather than the backs of coves. Dropshot rigs fished on main-lake points and steep areas continue to be effective once the surface bite wanes.Β
Striped Bass:
Same report as last week. Fishable boils are providing action thru the day with some of the best action being mid-day in the Ski Arm. There are still some boils happening in the morning by the forebay buoy line. Espetit 95βs in the White Flash pattern and Lucky Craft Gunfish and Sammy 100βs in Shad patterns are producing fish averaging five to seven pounds. There are heavy Algae blooms in some main lake areas, mostly in the Ski Arm. It is my contention that the Stripers will not surface feed where there is pea soup type algae, look for clearer water closer to shore and around cove mouths.
