Castaic Lake Report 09-14-2025

Largemouth and Smallmouth Bass:

Water levels and temps were steady this week resulting in some fantastic fishing opportunities. Surface action with baits like Bait Merchant 007 Riser Baits, Megabass Karashi’s and C3 Baits Flukenstein’s all getting bit into the high noon time frames. The wind seems more important than the time of day as it gets the food chain moving and condensing into smaller areas resulting in a prolonged bite window. There are still plenty of fish, mostly Smallmouth in the twenty foot depth range and the dropshot rig fished on main-lake points and steep rocks remains the most effective pattern. An uptick in fish size with fewer dinks in the mix is a welcome sight to anglers that have been on the water most of the Summer. My prediction is that the next two months will be epic.

Striped Bass:

An increase in fishable boils are providing action thru the day with some of the best action being mid-day in the Ski Arm. There are still some big boils happening in the morning by the buoy line, mostly out of reach by the forebay dam. Espetit 95’s in the White Flash pattern and Lucky Craft Gunfish 100’s in any pattern with a white belly are producing fish in the five to seven pound range.
