Castaic Lake Fishing Report 07/12/25

This report was made possible by Jim Taibi's 661Fishing.com Guide Service.  Visit his website here and catch more fish.

Largemouth and Smallmouth Bass:

Bass fishing was pretty strong this week despite a lull on surface activity mid-week, due to the full moon and North wind in the morning. C3 Baits Shimmys and Jobus continue to dominate the finesse plastics presentations after the surface activity recedes mid-morning. Bait Merchant 007 Riser Baits and C3 Baits Flukensteins typically dominate the surface bite year after year, with Lucky Craft Pointers in the 78 and 100 size picking up the slack once the surface bite wanes and the fish recede to the five to ten foot depth range. Live Shad continue to provide explosive surface action throughout the day for those willing and able to net them.

Striped Bass:

Not much of a change from previous weeks. This bite will inevitably explode, with big schools of six pound fish lurking in the twenty to thirty foot depth range for now.
