Fresh and inshore saltwater anglers are sure to find a model to meet their goals, ready to provide reliable service.
The Stradic FM features trickle-down technologies from Shimano's flagship Stella reel. InfinityXross gear tooth design increases surface contact, spreads load out over a larger surface area, and enhances efficiency and durability. Working along with Hagane cold foraged gearing and MicroModule II, the gearing not only feels remarkable with every turn of the handle out of the box but continues to feel the same way for years of use to come.
Infinity Drive technology provides unparalleled cranking power for even the toughest fights, while the Dura Cross Drag system yields ten times the felt drag life and ensures smoothness and durability. Shimano X-Protect technology further safeguards the Stradic, utilizing coatings and a unique labyrinth design to prevent water ingress, all while minimizing drag and effortlessly prolonging the reel's lifespan. The new Anti-Twist Fin adds an extra layer of protection, minimizing the space between the bail arm and roller. Specifications.

The 2026 Daiwa BG LT Spinning Reel rebuilds one of the best value workhorse reels in fishing around Daiwa's LT (Light & Tough) concept - less weight, no loss of toughness. A solid aluminum frame and aluminum body cover hold the gear train in alignment under load, while Daiwa's AIRDRIVE DESIGN package pairs a lightweight AIRDRIVE ROTOR with a solid-wire AIRDRIVE BAIL to strip rotational wobble and vibration out of the retrieve. Inside, the strengthened TOUGH DIGIGEAR delivers more cranking power and a smoother feel under drag pressure, and the ATD (Advanced Tournament Drag) provides up to 26.4 lb of smooth, consistent stopping power. Built for serious inshore, bay, and light-surf work.
Key Features
- Solid Aluminum Frame & Body Cover - Modernized aluminum frame and body cover maintain structural rigidity under heavy drag, keeping the gear train in alignment when you lean on a fish; the strength inshore anglers need without the bulk of the previous generation.
- AIRDRIVE ROTOR - Lightweight rotor design reduces rotational inertia and eliminates wobble for faster line pickup and lightning-fast control of the retrieve; less start-up inertia means better sensitivity through the handle.
- AIRDRIVE BAIL - Solid-wire bail construction removes the vibration and flex of hollow-tube bails for cleaner line lay and more consistent line pickup on every turn.
- TOUGH DIGIGEAR - Strengthened digital gear design provides smoother, more powerful cranking so you can apply maximum pressure with confidence; precision-cut teeth hold their mesh over long saltwater seasons.
- ATD Drag - Advanced Tournament Drag delivers smooth, consistent pressure from the first pull with no start-up spike; 22 lb max drag on the 2500D-XH and 3000D-XH, 26.4 lb on the 4000D-CXH.
- 1CRBB + 4BB + 1RB Bearing System - A Corrosion Resistant Ball Bearing (CRBB) sits at the highest-stress position for extended life in saltwater, backed by four ball bearings and a roller bearing for smooth operation and instant anti-reverse.
- Braid-Ready Spool Gasket - The spool is outfitted with a braid-ready gasket that grips braided line directly, eliminating the need for mono backing while still holding monofilament or fluorocarbon securely.
- T-Shape Soft-Touch Handle Knob - Ergonomic T-knob gives a powerful, comfortable grip through long casting sessions and extended fights, wet or dry.
- Screw-In Handle - Direct-drive screw-in handle threads straight into the drive shaft for zero handle play and a solid, connected feel under load.

|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| BGLT2500D-XH | 1CRBB+4BB+1RB | 6.2:1 | 34.5" | 8.5 | 10/250, 15/185 | 22 |

Size Selection Guide
- 2500D-XH - The lightest of the three at 8.5 oz. Best for finesse inshore and freshwater work on 10-15 lb braid: spotted bay bass, trout, and light plastics. 22 lb max drag, 34.5" per crank. Choose this if you fish light rods and want all-day comfort.
- 3000D-XH - The all-around inshore size at 9.3 oz. Best for calico bass, halibut, corbina, and general bay and jetty fishing on 15-20 lb braid. 22 lb max drag, 36.8" per crank. The safe default if you only buy one.
- 4000D-CXH - Compact body, larger spool, 9.9 oz. Best for heavier inshore and light surf on 20-30 lb braid: bigger calicos, halibut on the sand, and school-size yellowtail on light gear. 26.4 lb max drag and 39.1" per crank, the most line pickup and stopping power in the lineup.
Best For
- Inshore Saltwater - Aluminum frame and body cover plus a CRBB bearing handle the salt, spray, and grit of bay, jetty, and harbor fishing; the ATD drag manages the short, violent runs of calico bass and halibut.
- Light Surf & Beach - The braid-ready spool and 6.2:1 gearing give fast line pickup for working the trough; the 4000D-CXH carries enough 20-30 lb braid for barred surfperch, halibut, and the occasional surprise.
- Freshwater Bass & Trout - The 2500D-XH and 3000D-XH bring aluminum-body durability and Tough Digigear smoothness to finesse freshwater techniques at a mid-range price.
- Anglers Upgrading from the Original BG - The same reliability and value the BG built its name on, now lighter, with AIRDRIVE ROTOR, solid-wire bail, and strengthened gearing.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between the 2026 BG LT and the original Daiwa BG?
The 2026 BG LT is built on Daiwa's LT (Light & Tough) platform, so it is noticeably lighter than the reel it replaces while keeping a solid aluminum frame and body cover. It adds AIRDRIVE DESIGN components - the AIRDRIVE ROTOR and solid-wire AIRDRIVE BAIL - along with a strengthened TOUGH DIGIGEAR for smoother, more powerful cranking.
Do I need mono backing for braid on the BG LT?
No. Every BG LT spool has a braid-ready gasket that grips braided line directly, so you can fill the spool with braid without backing. The same gasket holds monofilament and fluorocarbon securely.
What does the C in 4000D-CXH mean?
The C designates a compact body. The 4000D-CXH pairs a 4000-size spool with a smaller 3000-size body, so you get 4000-class line capacity and 26.4 lb of drag in a lighter, better-balanced package.
Which BG LT size should I buy for inshore saltwater?
The 3000D-XH is the best all-around inshore choice for calico bass and halibut on 15-20 lb braid. Step up to the 4000D-CXH if you fish heavier braid, throw larger baits, or want the extra 26.4 lb of drag for light surf and school yellowtail.
Is the BG LT good for saltwater?
Yes. It is designed for inshore and light-surf saltwater use, with an aluminum frame and body cover and a Corrosion Resistant Ball Bearing at the highest-stress position. As with any spinning reel, rinse it with fresh water after each saltwater trip.
What gear ratio is the 2026 BG LT?
All three models - 2500D-XH, 3000D-XH, and 4000D-CXH - use a 6.2:1 gear ratio, recovering 34.5", 36.8", and 39.1" of line per handle turn respectively.
