Sunline

Sunline Super FC Sniper Fluorocarbon Line is a versatile mainline for spinning and casting tackle. Sunline's triple-resin processing is designed to improve suppleness, reduce memory and provide abrasion resistance. Choose both pound test and spool length: this listing includes 200-, 165- and 660-yard options.

Choose your strength and spool length

• 200 yards: 5, 6, 7, 8, 10, 12 and 14 lb.
• 165 yards: 16, 20 and 25 lb.
• 660 yards: 5, 6, 7, 8, 10, 12, 14, 16 and 20 lb.

For light-line and finesse presentations, start with a pound test that matches your rod, reel and hook. The 5–7 lb options are worth considering for drop-shot and shaky-head setups where cover permits lighter line. Heavier tests suit appropriately rated casting tackle and larger presentations. Check reel capacity as well as line strength before moving up a size.

A 660-yard spool can be useful when filling several reels or replacing mainline regularly. The number of fills depends on reel capacity, pound test and backing; spool length alone does not determine how many reels you can fill.

3 Tackle Express Tips

1. Read both parts of the option label. A 16 lb filler spool contains 165 yards, while the 16 lb bulk option contains 660 yards.
2. Control loose coils. Fill to the reel manufacturer's recommended level under even tension. On spinning tackle, close the bail by hand and take up slack before retrieving.
3. Inspect before the next cast. Check the working end after contact with cover. Cut back past rough spots and retie rather than relying on abrasion resistance to compensate for damage.

Frequently asked questions

Can I use FC Sniper on spinning or casting reels?

Yes. Match the line strength and diameter to the reel's capacity and your rod's line rating.

Are all smaller spools 200 yards?

No. The 5–14 lb filler options listed here are 200 yards; the 16, 20 and 25 lb filler options are 165 yards.

When should I choose 660 yards?

Consider it when you use the same pound test on several reels or respool often. Check how much line each reel needs before ordering.

Does low memory mean the line cannot coil or twist?

No. Low-memory processing helps handling, but reel fill, spooling technique and lure rotation can still affect line management.

Sunline has produced braided line since 1992. Since that time, Sunline braid was only available in the US to its professional fishing staff. In 2011, that all changed with the addition of Dean Rojas and a new braided product specifically for the US market. Dean is known as the best frog fisherman on the planet, so Sunline went to him to help develop a braided line that would be perfect for frog fishing and flipping. FX2 was created specifically for these two power techniques that require a premium braid product.

FX2 features include the following:

• Designed and endorsed by world’s best frog fisherman Dean Rojas
• Circular vs oval shape
• Easier, longer casts
• Doesn’t dig into spool
• 8 strand braid of combined PE and PET
• Smooth surface with no coatings to wear off
• Holds coloring longer

Sunline Shooter Fluorocarbon Line is the proven choice of both the tournament angler and the weekend fisherman.  This Japanese made line has formulas to insure you get hooked up and get the fish to the boat.  With many applications and sizes to fit your style of fishing, Sunline Shooter is sure to be your favorite.  Unlike subpar lines, Sunline installs it on the spool with Levelwind Technology.  This means there will be no imperfections in the line from the line above it crossing over the line below.  Each layer of line is installed on the spool next the previous like stacked cordwood.

Sunline made three precisely formulated versions of the Shooter Fluorocarbon, each one tailored to techniques associated with its range of sizes - Finesse Special, Marionette Special and the Power Special. All three fishing lines retain the characteristics that have made Sunline Shooter Fluorocarbon so popular: little-to-no memory, low underwater visibility, and an amazing castability. In addition to these key features, each version has been enhanced with attributes that improve performance in their specific tests and line diameters. From the lightest finesse techniques to the toughest power applications, Sunline Shooter Fluorocarbon has you covered.

Finesse Special (7-9lbs): With an extra 3% of stretch and a special abrasion-resistant coating, the Finesse Special gives anglers peace of mind when handling a bigger fish. Built with incredible knot strength, the Finesse Special delivers an enhanced sensitivity and the ability to detect the faintest of bites. A small line with a big bite, the Sunline Shooter Fluorocarbon Finesse Special is perfect for finesse applications like dropshotting.

Marionette Special (10-20lbs): Same formula as the original Sunline Shooter Fluorocarbon, the Marionette Special offers anglers a well-rounded line for a variety of applications. Perfect for fishing a jig or smaller swimbaits, the Marionette Special offers incredible knot strength, as well as, an amazing straight strength. The ultimate combination of sensitivity and abrasion resistance, the Marionette Special will get the job done in a variety of conditions.

Power Special (22-30lbs): A small increase in stretch gives the Power Special more shock absorbency when flipping or throwing big swimbaits. Built with beefed up abrasion resistance and an unmatched durability, the Power Special is perfect for horsing big ones out of timber and heavy cover.
