The Strike King Pro Model 6XD Crankbait was developed and evaluated for one year alongside 5-time BASS Angler-of-the-Year, Kevin VanDam. This crank bait is a must-have and is a constant fixture in our gear. We recommend using 10lb flourocarbon line to achieve greater depths. Keep a lure retriever handy in case of any snags with lighter line. Keep in mind that each body of water and type of cover may require heavier line.

We also like to use an egg snap on the bait, it allows it more action and you can swap out the color or bait if you need to. Decoy makes a great snap that is easy to get on and off but is strong enough for big fish.  

Before Van Dam had unveiled a prototype and used it to produce some substantial weights in route to his 2nd place finish in the 2009 BASS Elite Series event at Kentucky Lake.

In order to attack those big ledge fish, KVD wanted to make sure this new bait would not only reach 18-20-foot depths, but that it had the right wobble and shimmy once it got there to attract the bass and entice them to bite.
