Calico Bass Lures

The Keitech Flex Chunk Large 4.3" delivers old-school pork trailer action through new-age materials and design. Since the development of the bass jig, anglers have known that the natural action of pork trailers triggers oversized bass — but pork was messy, dried out, and difficult to store. The Flex Chunk gives you that same seductive action in plastic: when the jig hits bottom and the skirt flares, the thick leaf-shaped segmented legs fall and reverberate in a perfect pork imitation.

Built with optimum material hardness, the right salt content, Keitech's strong squid scent, and color options never available in pork — the Flex Chunk Trailer is a genuinely innovative jig trailer.

Key Features

• Length: approx. 4.3"
• Weight: approx. 0.47 oz each
• Pack quantity: 5 per pack
• Recommended jig hook: #3/0 to #5/0
• Thick leaf-shaped segmented legs — superior flexibility and pork-style reverberation action

An umbrella rig works because it looks like a school of bait instead of a single lure — five profiles moving together, and a fish that ignores one swimbait will run down a group of them.

Short version: this is the rig itself — painted nose head, stamped Kicker blades, five heavy-gauge arms, and a quick clip on the end of each one. Jig heads and swimbaits are sold separately. You supply five of each.

What You're Buying

The PK-Rig is the frame that carries the school. A painted baitfish head leads the rig, a ball bearing swivel at the nose cuts line twist on the retrieve, a cluster of stamped Kicker willow blades on the shaft adds flash, and every arm ends in a quick clip.

The clips are the reason the rig lasts. On most A-rigs, changing baits means re-threading or re-tying an arm, and every time you work the wire you shorten the rig's life. With clips, you set the arms once at the start of the season and leave them alone. Calicos today on 5" baits, spotties tomorrow on 3" — clip off, clip on, arms untouched.

The rig ships with the arms collapsed flat. That's normal and it isn't damage. Bending the arms to shape is the first step of setup, not a repair.

Setting It Up Before the First Cast

• Bend each arm so it exits the head straight, then flares outward from about an inch past the head. An arm that leaves the head and immediately bends down is a stress point, and stress points are where wire fails.
• Go wider than looks right — close to 90 degrees off the head at full spread. The arms flex inward once five weighted baits are hanging on them, so a conservative bend collapses in the water.
• Work the arms out in stages, check the spread from the front, and only then commit to the final bend.
• Weight it like a keel — your two heaviest jig heads on the bottom two arms, lighter heads on the top three. Even weight across all five gives the rig nothing holding its orientation, so it rolls, spins, and twists your line.

Key Features

• Stamped Kicker willow blades — flash and vibration built into the rig itself.
• Painted baitfish nose head — leading profile finished to match the rig color.
• Quick clip on every arm — swap all five baits without touching the wire.
• Ball bearing nose swivel — reduces line twist on the retrieve.
• Five heavy-gauge arms — hold a bend under five weighted baits.
• Two colors — EnlightenMint (light blue/silver) and I'm Saury (white/blue/teal).

Best Species and Conditions

Calico bass, spotted bay bass, striped bass, and yellowtail. Fished to boiler rocks and structure at Catalina and the outer islands, over schooling bait in open water, and inside harbors and bays with a downsized profile.

Head Weight and Bait Size by Situation

Pro Tips from the Tackle Express Crew

• Bend it wider than feels right. Every rig that comes back to the counter spinning was bent too conservatively.
• Use swing heads, not fixed jig heads. A swinging hook lets each bait move independently of its weight, which is what keeps five baits moving at the same speed from looking like they're being towed.
• Strap the baits before the boat runs. Gather all five baits at the bottom of the rig and bungee them together before it goes in the rod holder. Five arms of hooks will find every other rod in the rack.
• Check a rig that's been in storage. Confirm the arms still exit the head straight and your heaviest heads are still on the bottom pair before you cast.

Common Mistakes

• Even head weight across all five arms. The number one cause of a rig that helicopters and corkscrews your line.
• Bending the arm right where it exits the head. Creates a stress point that fails after a season of fish.
• Fishing it on a rod that can't load it. Five weighted baits is a heavy package — match the rod to the total weight, not to one swimbait.
• Mismatching bait size to the bait in the water. Five of the wrong-size profile is still the wrong profile.

Kicker does not publish arm length, spread width, wire gauge, rig weight, or clip test rating for the PK-Rig. Call the shop and we'll measure the one on the rack for you.

What's Included

One Kicker PK-Rig umbrella rig in the color selected, with the painted nose head, blade cluster, five arms, and five quick clips attached. Jig heads and swimbaits are not included. A complete setup takes five jig heads and five swimbaits in addition to this rig.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does the PK-Rig come with swimbaits or jig heads?
No. The rig includes the head, blades, arms, and quick clips. You supply five jig heads and five swimbaits.

Why did my rig arrive with the arms folded flat?
That's how it ships. The arms are meant to be bent to shape by the angler — each one straight out of the head, then flaring outward, close to 90 degrees at full spread. Our step-by-step umbrella rig setup guide shows the bend with photos.

How far should I bend the arms?
Close to 90 degrees off the head. It looks like too much on the bench, but the arms flex inward once five weighted baits are loaded, so a conservative bend collapses in the water.

What jig head weights should I use?
Heavier on the bottom two arms, lighter on the top three. With 5" baits, 1/2 oz on the bottom pair and 1/4 oz on the other three is a solid starting point. Scale up for depth or current but keep the ratio.

Why does an umbrella rig spin on the retrieve?
Almost always even weight across all five arms. The rig has no bottom, so nothing holds its orientation. Move your heaviest heads to the bottom two arms.

Why use a swing head instead of a fixed jig head?
A swing head lets the bait pivot independently of the weight. When five baits are moving at the same speed, that independent motion is what keeps each one looking like it's swimming rather than being towed.

Can I use 3-inch swimbaits on it?
Yes. Inside harbors and bays it's often the better choice — a smaller profile matches the bait and lightens the whole rig.

How do I keep it from tangling my other rods?
Gather all five baits at the bottom of the rig and strap them together with a rod strap or bungee before it goes in the holder. The arms are set and won't move.

Are umbrella rigs legal where I fish?
Hook and lure restrictions vary by state and by individual water body, and multi-hook rigs are specifically regulated in a number of places. Check current regulations for the water you're fishing before you throw one.

Gear That Goes With It

• Warbaits Neck Breaker Swing Head — 1/4 oz for the top three arms, 1/2 oz for the bottom pair.
• Kicker Pickle Kick PK-5 — the standard calico and open-water profile.
• Kicker Pickle Kick PK-3 — harbor, bay, and small-bait situations.
• Kicker Pickle Kick PK-7 — larger profile for a bigger school.
• Kicker Booty Spin — blade-tail version of the same body, for vibration at the bait.
• Kicker Quick Clips 12pk — replacements in 25, 50, 75, and 125 lb black steel.

When deep water calls for a smaller profile, the Berkley Dredger Crankbait is built to get down quickly and stay in the strike zone longer. Its custom body shape and weighted bill create a deep-diving presentation with a tight, subtle action, while the compact design helps reduce resistance during a full day of casting and winding.

Downsize Without Giving Up Depth

The Dredger gives anglers a smaller deep-diving crankbait option without losing the depth-focused design that makes this style useful. Balanced hard-bait construction helps it cast straight and far, and the lure is designed to run consistently right out of the package without tuning.

What It Solves on the Water

Many deep-diving crankbaits create heavy resistance that wears an angler down over a long retrieve. The Dredger's smaller profile and lower resistance are designed to make deep-water coverage less labor-intensive, while its weighted bill helps it reach the strike zone quickly.

Why Anglers Choose It

• Gets deep quickly: The weighted bill drives the bait down and helps it stay in the strike zone longer.
• Subtle attraction: A tight, restrained action and slow rise on the pause can keep fish interested throughout the retrieve.
• Long, dependable casts: The balanced design is built to throw straight and far.
• Less fatigue: The smaller body creates less resistance than many deep-diving crankbaits.
• Ready to fish: The lure is designed to run consistently from the package without tuning.

The Right Pick If...

Choose the Dredger when you want to fish deep water with a compact crankbait profile, cover ledges or structure, and keep the retrieve manageable over a long session. Match the selected size to the depth you need to reach, then choose the color that fits your water and forage pattern.

Best Techniques and Conditions

The current listing is built around deep-water crankbait fishing, including ledge and structure presentations. It is tagged for freshwater and saltwater use, with calico also identified in the product tags. Use the 17.5 or 20.5 option shown below according to the depth and presentation you need.

Best For

• Deep-water crankbait fishing
• Ledges, structure, and other depth-focused presentations
• Anglers who want a smaller profile with a deep-diving design
• Freshwater and saltwater tackle boxes, including calico applications

Current Models and Specs

Available Color Options

Dredger 17.5: HD Threadfin Shad, Blue Chartreuse, HD Tennesse Shad, Green Shad, Chameleon Pearl, Stunna Shad, and Stone Cold.

Dredger 20.5: HD Yellow Perch, Blue Chartreuse, HD Threadfin Shad, Stone Cold, HD Bluegill, Stunna Shad, Chameleon Pearl, HD Blueback Herring, Big Money, and Green Shad.

Tackle Express Tips

1. Start with the running depth you need, then choose between the 17.5 and 20.5 options.
2. Use the slower rise on the pause as part of the retrieve instead of rushing every cast back to the boat.
3. Check that the bait is running cleanly before a long session, even though the Dredger is designed to fish consistently without tuning.

Questions Anglers Ask

How deep does the Berkley Dredger run?
The current selectable options are listed at 16–19.5 feet for the Dredger 17.5 and 20–22.5 feet for the Dredger 20.5.

What action does it have?
The Dredger is designed with a tight, subtle action and a slow rise when paused.

Which colors are available?
The current selector includes seven 17.5 color options and ten 20.5 color options, listed above.

The Fishus Ippai 135 Jerkbait pairs a slender baitfish profile with reflective finishes for anglers who like to control the pace of their presentation. Work it with short rod-tip twitches, mix in pauses, and experiment with a steady retrieve when fish respond to a moving target. Three color options give you a choice between a natural mullet look, a pink-backed accent, and a sardine-style pattern.

Give Your Retrieve a Change of Pace

A uniform retrieve is not always the answer when predators follow without committing. A jerkbait lets you vary the rhythm: twitch, pause, then move it again. The Ippai's lipped profile and sinking buoyancy make it an option to consider when you want to fish below the surface rather than stay on top. During a pause, allow for the lure's descent and keep it clear of bottom snags.

The Right Pick If...

You enjoy actively working a hard bait and adjusting your retrieve as conditions change. Start around visible baitfish, open-water edges, or clean casting lanes beside structure. Calm to moderately rippled water makes it easier to watch your line and compare retrieve styles. In heavy vegetation or snag-filled cover, a treble-hook lure needs more care than a weedless presentation.

Best for: twitch-and-pause retrieves, stop-and-go fishing, steady-retrieve experimentation, and baitfish-oriented predators feeding below the surface. Choose your rod and line to suit the lure and the fish you are targeting.

Pick a Finish That Fits the Water

• Mullet: a silver-sided, dark-backed pattern for a natural baitfish look.
• Pink Holo: reflective sides with a pink back, a useful change of color when you want something different from a natural pattern.
• Hot Belly Sardine: a blue-backed, spotted baitfish pattern with a contrasting underside.

Begin with the color closest to the local forage, then try a contrasting finish if fish follow but do not bite. Light, water clarity, and retrieve speed can all influence which presentation you prefer.

Details That Matter on the Water

• Slender, lipped jerkbait profile for an actively worked hard-bait presentation.
• Sinking buoyancy for below-surface fishing.
• Plastic body with reflective baitfish-style finishes.
• Belly and tail treble-hook positions.
• Three selectable colors, without changing models.

Fishus Ippai 135 at a Glance

Find the Rhythm Before You Cover Water

Make a short test cast where you can observe the lure. Begin with gentle twitches and a brief pause, then adjust rod movement and speed. Recover excess slack between movements without pulling the lure continuously. If you are fishing near the bottom, shorten pauses or begin retrieving sooner to reduce snag risk.

When fish are visibly feeding on top and you want a surface presentation, switch approaches with the Fishus Espetit Topwater Walking Bait.

Tackle Express Tips

• Change one variable at a time: try a different pause length before switching colors, so you can tell what made the difference.
• Watch your line during pauses and stay ready to recover slack when it moves unexpectedly.
• After fishing, rinse with fresh water when needed, dry thoroughly, and check hooks and split rings before storing.

Before Your First Cast

Does the Ippai 135 float or sink?
It is a sinking jerkbait. Account for its descent when pausing, especially around shallow rocks or other snags.

Which color should I start with?
Try Mullet for a natural silver baitfish look, Hot Belly Sardine for a spotted blue-backed pattern, or Pink Holo when you want a pink accent. Let local forage and fish response guide the choice.

Should I twitch it or use a steady retrieve?
Start with short twitches and pauses, then compare a steady retrieve. Test the lure near you first and adjust the pace to the water and fish activity.

Choose your color and add the Fishus Ippai 135 to your next hard-bait rotation at Tackle Express.

Big Bait Profile, Same Proven Jig Head

Hookup Baits are hand-crafted in San Diego and engineered around shape, color, and action — the three things that actually trigger bites. The XL body is built for the big 2oz and 3oz Hookup Baits jig heads, giving you a full 6" profile that pushes serious water and gets down fast in current and depth. When a body gets torn up by teeth or rocks, slide a fresh one onto your existing XL head and you're back fishing in seconds. Each pack includes two bodies.

The Right Fit for Your Jig Head

These bodies are designed specifically for Hookup Baits XL jig heads in 2oz and 3oz. The larger profile gives big fish a bigger target — ideal for white seabass, yellowtail, and halibut when they're keyed on squid, mackerel, or large sardines, or when you need to hold bottom in deeper water and stronger current. Like all Hookup Baits, the XL can be cast, jigged vertically, or trolled.

Why Replacement Bodies Make Sense

Soft plastic bodies take a beating — from fish, from rocks, and from repeated drops to the bottom. Buying replacement bodies instead of whole new jigs keeps your proven XL head in rotation and saves money over time. If a color has been producing, stocking up on bodies means you never have to fish without it.

Five Colors, Matched to the Conditions

• Red Crab — high-contrast attractor color, great in low-vis or stained water and a proven white seabass color
• Chovy — anchovy-match profile, a staple when 'chovies are the primary forage
• Pearl White — versatile high-flash color that works across species and conditions, and a strong squid imitation
• Mint — translucent, subtle color for pressured fish and clear water
• Ice — clear, natural finish for bright days and clear water when fish get picky

Three Ways to Fish It

• Vertical jigging — drop to the mark and work it up through the water column
• Cast and retrieve — work it along kelp edges, rocky structure, and bait schools
• Trolling — pull it behind the boat to cover water and locate fish

Best Conditions

• Deeper water and stronger current where a heavier 2oz or 3oz head is needed
• Squid, mackerel, and large-sardine bite situations
• Any session where a bigger profile triggers bigger fish

Best For

• White seabass, yellowtail, and halibut
• Big calico bass and lingcod around deep structure
• Anglers who already fish Hookup Baits XL 2oz or 3oz jig heads and want to stock up on bodies

Key Features

• Brand: Hookup Baits (designed & manufactured in San Diego, CA)
• Fits: Hookup Baits XL 2oz and 3oz jig heads
• Body length: 6"
• Pack contents: 2 replacement bodies
• Colors: Red Crab, Chovy, Pearl White, Mint, Ice

How to Replace the Body

Watch the official Hookup Baits tutorial below for a step-by-step walkthrough on swapping out the soft body on your jig head.

Tackle Express Tips

• Red Crab and Mint are the classic white seabass colors on the bigger Hookup Baits — if seabass are the target, start with one of those.
• Pearl White is a go-to when squid are around — match the bait and fish it slow near the bottom.
• Bodies go fast when the bite is on. Keep a spare pack in your bag so a torn body never ends your drift.

Berkley PowerBait MaxScent Creature Hawg 4"

Built for heavy cover and big fish, the Berkley PowerBait MaxScent Creature Hawg is a streamlined creature bait designed to punch through matted vegetation, flip into tight docks, and pitch to laydowns with authority. Its ribbed body maximizes surface area for scent release while also moving water and concealing the point of your hook — a critical detail when you're fishing pressured fish in thick cover.

The MaxScent formula takes scent dispersion to another level entirely, releasing a super-charged scent field that attracts fish in a way traditional plastics simply can't match. Ultra-realistic matte colors and a soft, durable construction round out a bait that big bass and tournament anglers both love.

Features

• Ribbed body — maximizes MaxScent scent release, moves water, and hides hook point
• Streamlined profile — punches through matted vegetation and heavy cover cleanly
• MaxScent formula — super-charged scent field for heightened fish attraction
• Ultra-realistic matte colors — fools pressured, finicky fish
• Soft yet durable construction — lifelike action and multiple fish per bait
• Available in multiple big-fish color patterns

Best For

• Techniques: Flipping, pitching, punching, Texas rig
• Conditions: Heavy cover, matted vegetation, docks, laydowns

The Ima Sasuke 120 Reppa puts a tight wobbling and rolling baitfish presentation just below the surface, with a shifting tungsten weight system to help you reach water beyond the first line of wash. This 120mm, 18g slow-floating minnow is a practical choice when you want casting distance without moving to a bulky, heavier plug.

Cast across a current seam, bring the line tight, and let a steady retrieve establish the swim. Short rod twitches add a change of direction, while a brief pause lets the slow-floating body rise. It is a versatile way to work shallow feeding lanes rather than rushing a lure past fish holding near the surface.

Reach the Seam, Stay in the Shallow Zone

The internal tungsten weights shift toward the tail during the cast, then return forward on the retrieve. That change in balance supports distance casting and a stable swimming presentation. The dished lip produces the Sasuke's characteristic wobbling and rolling action, with a stated running range of 70–90cm. Current, line diameter, rod angle, and retrieve speed affect actual depth.

Best for: surf casting, inlet and estuary current seams, shallow inshore baitfish presentations, and targeting striped bass or calico bass where forage and conditions suit a 120mm minnow. Work open lanes beside structure rather than through heavy weed or exposed rocks.

The Right Pick If You Want a Shallow Swimmer

Choose the Reppa when baitfish are riding high, a topwater is not drawing interest, or you want a swimming plug that rises slowly during pauses. Start with a steady retrieve in moving water and add occasional twitches when fish follow without committing. It is not the first choice for probing deep water or crawling through snag-filled cover: its shallow running range and three treble hooks make open water the better fit.

What Makes the Reppa Different

• Tungsten weight transfer: shifts casting weight rearward, then forward for the retrieve.
• Slow-floating body: allows a rising pause between swimming sequences.
• Dished lip: creates wobbling and rolling action on a steady retrieve.
• ABS plastic construction: a hard-bodied baitfish presentation for saltwater casting.
• Three Owner ST-46 size #6 hooks: the listed factory hook configuration.

Models & Specs

All four color options share these specifications. Select your color above.

Match the Finish to Your Water

Hot Belly Sardine combines a blue back, silver sides, dark spots, and a pink belly for a baitfish look with added contrast. Lime Clear offers a translucent body with a green back, a useful starting point when you want a subtler profile. Cotton Candy adds multicolor flash to silver sides, while Red Head pairs a bold red head with a reflective silver body. Start with the local forage, then change contrast if fish are following but not striking.

Get the Swim Before Adding the Twitch

Use tackle rated to cast an 18g lure, and start by swimming it beside you to find the slowest retrieve that keeps a consistent action. Cast across or slightly up-current, take up slack, and guide the lure through the seam without overpowering it. In calmer water, mix a steady swim with short twitches and brief pauses. Keep enough line contact to detect a take without pulling the lure unnaturally.

For a braid-to-leader setup, pair it with an appropriately matched test of Seaguar Blue Label Fluorocarbon Leader. Balance abrasion allowance against lure movement rather than automatically choosing the heaviest leader. If you want another floating saltwater minnow option for your rotation, compare the Daiwa Salt Pro SP Minnow Floating.

Tackle Express Tips

• Watch the lure near shore before making a long cast. Adjust speed and rod angle until it tracks cleanly in the current you are fishing.
• Give a following fish a change of pace: try one short twitch followed by a brief pause instead of simply reeling faster.
• Rinse with fresh water after saltwater use, dry before storage, and check hooks, split rings, and leader after contact with structure.

Sasuke Questions, Answered

Does the Sasuke 120 Reppa float or sink?
It is a slow-floating minnow. It rises during a pause rather than sinking; added hardware or changes to the factory hooks can affect buoyancy and balance.

How deep does it run?
The stated range is 70–90cm, approximately 2.3–3 feet. Actual running depth changes with current, retrieve speed, line diameter, and rod position.

Should I twitch it or reel steadily?
Start with a steady retrieve to establish its wobbling and rolling swim. Add short twitches and pauses when you want a less predictable presentation, especially if fish follow without taking.

Choose your color and add a shallow-running saltwater minnow to your next surf or inshore session with Tackle Express.
