The bite remains pretty tough on most days, however the recent string of warm weather and minimal wind has produced a decent bite on mostly smaller fish in two to twenty feet of water. C3 Baits Shimmy’s in the Neptune Shad pattern on a dropshot or light-line Carolina rig are still getting the majority of the bites.

Fluctuating water levels and shorter days certainly won’t help. There has been a good bite on quality sized fish in the 15 to 25 foot range for anglers targeting secondary points in the bigger coves and cliff walls with the usual finesse techniques, mostly light-line Carolina rigs and dropshots.

There are basically two groups of fish. Some that are still chasing Shad and Minnows on the surface and others that are down around twenty feet keying in on the Shad schools that are migrating into the bigger coves from the main lake. Riser Baits, live Shad and small Flukes are catching the surface feeders while dropshot and Carolina rigged finesse plastics are scoring quality fish deeper.
