Saltwater Lures

The Ahi USA Assault Diamond Jigs have been updated with cutting-edge 3-D holographic reflective designs. These dazzling patterns mimic fish scales, creating a lifelike appearance that's hard to resist. Plus, this same finish adds extra durability, reducing the risk of paint chipping or flaking.

The glow eyes makes this diamond jig look flashier than ever before and is sure to get noticed even in the lowest light conditions. The jigs are available in weight from 1 ounce up to 14 ounces and in 5 colors.

They come equipped with a heavy duty treble hook that is secured with heavy duty solid split rings. Ahi USA Assault Diamond Jigs catch just about every species of game fish from lingcod, rockfish, halibut, and tuna in the Pacific, to striped bass, bluefish, cod, and tuna on the East Coast. Anglers in the Gulf also use them to score grouper, snapper, amberjack, king mackerel and more.

1 per package

The PK-7 is what you throw when you want to change who shows up. Seven inches and 1.3 ounces of paddle-tail profile — it doesn't out-fish the PK-5 on numbers, and it isn't supposed to. It calls up a different class of fish.

Short version: 7", 1.3 oz, two baits per pack, weedless on an 8/0 hook. Bigger meal, heavier gear, fewer bites, better fish.

When to Size Up

The PK-5 matches what calicos eat most of the year. The PK-7 doesn't try to — it deliberately over-matches the bait in the water, and that's the point. Reasons to reach for it:

• The bait in the water is genuinely big. Full-size mackerel and larger smelt on the surface means a 5" bait is the small option, not the natural one.
• You're culling for size. A big profile filters out the small ones and pulls fish that were ignoring your other bait.
• Yellowtail are in the mix. A 7" bait is a reasonable meal for a yellow in a way a 5" isn't.
• Dirty or deep water. When visibility drops, displacement matters more than detail, and this bait moves considerably more water.

What It Takes to Fish It

This is not a light-tackle bait. A 1.3 oz bait on a 3/4 oz head is over two ounces before the fish shows up. Fish it on a rod with the backbone to load and cast that, and enough tip left to still work the bait — a light swimbait stick will fold on the cast and you'll never get the distance or the hookset.

Match an 8/0 hook to the body. Run the point up through the belly so it sits flush in the slot — buried too deep costs hookups, riding proud costs the weedless advantage. At this hook size the gap is generous, and getting it seated straight matters more than it does on the smaller baits.

The plastisol is the same firm formula as the rest of the line: slightly less tail flutter than the softest baits on the shelf, considerably more fish per bait. At two per pack, that durability is doing real work on your cost per trip.

On an Umbrella Rig

Five PK-7s is a heavy package — roughly 6.5 oz of plastic before you add heads. It builds the biggest school in the Pickle Kick lineup and it demands a rod to match.

Straight talk: a five-arm PK-7 rig is the most expensive and most demanding build in this lineup. If it's your first umbrella rig, build it with PK-5s and save this configuration for when you know the rig swims right and your rod can handle it.

Picking a Color

At this size, profile is doing most of the work and color is doing less than it does on a 5" bait. What still matters is contrast against the water:

Pro Tips from the Tackle Express Crew

• Give it a full day before you judge it. The PK-7 gets fewer bites than the PK-5 by design. Switching back after an hour of quiet is how most anglers never find out what it does.
• Slow down further than you think. A big bait moving fast reads as wrong. The tail loads up at a crawl.
• Match the head to the depth, not to the bait's size. A 1.3 oz bait doesn't automatically want a heavy head — use the lightest one that holds your zone.
• Check your rod before you buy the pack. Two ounces of bait and head on an under-gunned stick is a bad cast and a worse hookset.

Common Mistakes

• Undersizing the hook. This body takes an 8/0. A 5/0 from your PK-5 box will not clear it on the hookset.
• Fishing it on PK-5 tackle. The single most common reason this bait disappoints people.
• Throwing it when the bait in the water is small. Over-matching is a deliberate tactic, not a default. When the fish are keyed on 3" bait, size down.
• Buying two packs for an umbrella rig. Two per pack, five arms. You need three.

Specifications

Colors are listed in the selector above and change with each production run. Hooks and jig heads are sold separately.

What's Included

Two PK-7 swimbaits per pack, in the color selected. Hooks, jig heads, and the umbrella rig are sold separately. A five-arm rig takes three packs.

Frequently Asked Questions

How many baits come in a pack?
Two.

What hook size does the PK-7 take?
8/0. The 4/0 and 5/0 hooks that fit a PK-5 will not clear this body.

Why does a pack cost less than a pack of PK-5s?
Because it holds two baits instead of four. Per bait, the PK-7 is $8.50 against the PK-5's $4.75.

PK-5 or PK-7?
PK-5 is the everyday size and matches what calicos eat most of the year. Go PK-7 when the bait in the water is genuinely big, when you're culling for size, when yellowtail are in the mix, or when visibility is poor and you need displacement.

What rod do I need for it?
Enough backbone to load and cast two-plus ounces of bait and head, with enough tip left to work the bait and drive an 8/0 hook. A light swimbait rod will fold on the cast.

What jig head weight should I use?
Match the head to the depth you're fishing, not to the bait's size. Use the lightest head that holds your zone — too much weight drags the nose down and kills the tail.

How many packs do I need for a five-arm umbrella rig?
Three. Five arms, two baits per pack — you'll finish with one spare.

Is it weedless?
Yes, when the hook point sits flush in the body slot. That's what lets it come through kelp and rock without loading up.

Gear That Goes With It

• Warbaits Neck Breaker Swing Head — 3/4 oz and 1 oz are the pairings for this bait.
• Kicker PK-Rig Umbrella Rig — five-arm rig with quick clips.
• Kicker Pickle Kick PK-5 — the everyday 5" size.
• Kicker Pickle Kick PK-3 — harbor and bay size.
• Kicker Booty Spin — same body with a spinning blade instead of a paddle tail.

Built with meticulous attention to detail and reinforced components, these custom heavy yo-yo irons provide the maximum weight and durability needed for extreme depths, strong current, and trophy-class gamefish. The Stinger represents JRI Custom Lures' commitment to creating specialized tools for the most challenging deep-water conditions.

Heavy-Duty Design and Construction

• Hand-Crafted Quality: Each jig is individually made with attention to detail that ensures consistent performance
• Maximum Weight Profile: Heaviest weight in the JRI lineup for extreme deep-water fishing
• Reinforced Construction: Built extra-tough to handle trophy-class fish and demanding conditions
• Premium Heavy-Duty Components: Extra-strong hooks and hardware for extreme loads
• Durable Finish: High-quality plating provides maximum flash and withstands deep-water punishment
• Optimized for Extreme Conditions: Designed specifically for deep water, strong current, and trophy fish

Extreme Deep-Water Yo-Yo Technique

The Stinger excels in the most challenging deep-water conditions. Drop the iron down to extreme depths or work it in strong current where lighter jigs can't maintain bottom contact. The maximum weight gets down fast, cuts through heavy current, and maintains proper action even in the deepest water. The reinforced construction handles the extreme loads of trophy-class fish fighting from great depths, while the heavy-duty components ensure the jig stays together during brutal battles.

Built for Extreme Conditions

Whether you're targeting trophy yellowtail on deep offshore banks, working extreme depths for white seabass, fishing deep structure in strong current, pursuing trophy rockfish and lingcod on deep vertical structure, or any situation where maximum weight and durability are essential, the KO Stinger delivers the performance serious deep-water specialists demand. The heavy weight is ideal for windy conditions, extreme depths, and situations where lighter jigs simply won't get the job done.

JRI Custom Lures Quality

JRI Custom Lures has built a reputation for hand-crafted quality and innovative designs among serious West Coast anglers. The KO Stinger Heavy Yo-Yo Iron continues this tradition, combining maximum weight with meticulous craftsmanship that produces results in the most demanding deep-water fishing situations. From long-range sportfishing boats to private vessels, the Stinger is trusted by anglers who face the most challenging conditions and target the biggest fish.

Experience the custom-crafted power that extreme deep-water fishing demands. The JRI Custom Lures KO Stinger isn't just a heavier jig—it's a specialized tool built for the most challenging deep-water conditions.

Dominate extreme depths with JRI Stinger—where maximum weight meets custom quality.

The Shimano Butterfly Flat-Fall Jig 250g brings the same horizontal flat-fall action that West Coast anglers trust for big tuna — in a lighter, more versatile weight that covers a wider range of depths, species, and conditions. Center-balanced for a slow, erratic wobble on the fall, the 250g stays in the strike zone longer than any nose-down jig and comes ready to fish with two Owner dancing stinger hooks on a PowerPro 300 lb assist.

The Flat-Fall Advantage

Most jigs fall nose-down and blow through the strike zone fast. The Butterfly Flat-Fall is center-balanced, so it falls horizontally in a wide, wobbling action that mimics a dying baitfish. That horizontal fall keeps the jig in front of fish longer on every drop — and that extra hang time is often the difference between a bite and a miss on fish that won't chase.

When Fast-Falling Jigs Leave Fish Behind

Suspended tuna and pelagics don't always commit to a jig that blows past them in seconds. The Flat-Fall's slow, horizontal wobble gives fish time to track, react, and eat — making it one of the most effective presentations when fish are marking on sonar but not responding to faster techniques. The 250g weight is particularly effective in shallower water or lighter current where a heavier jig would fall too fast.

Rigged and Ready

Unlike the 350g version, the 250g Butterfly Flat-Fall comes fully rigged with two Owner dancing stinger hooks on a PowerPro 300 lb assist cord — open the package and start fishing. The stinger hook setup is designed to maximize hook-up rates on fish that strike short or swipe at the jig without fully committing.

Recommended Upgraded Assist Hooks:

• Mustad J-Assist 1
• Mustad J-Assist 2
• BKK SF Reef Master
• BKK SF Deep

The Right Pick If...

• You're targeting bluefin, yellowfin, or yellowtail on the West Coast
• Fish are marking but not committing to faster presentations
• You're fishing shallower water or lighter current where 350g is too heavy
• You want a rigged, ready-to-fish jig with proven Owner hooks
• You want more color options to match local baitfish

Best Fishing Techniques

• Free-spool drop — drop to the bottom, crank up 30 feet, then free-spool and let the jig fall on a slack line; the horizontal wobble does the work
• Cast and fall — cast the jig, free-spool as it sinks, wait for the bite, then jerk and repeat; deadly on surface-feeding bluefin and yellowfin
• Slow pitch jigging — short, rhythmic lifts keep the jig in the zone and trigger strikes from suspended fish
• Mid-water column jigging — the 250g weight is ideal for working fish suspended at mid-depth rather than pinned to the bottom

Best Conditions

• Offshore West Coast — bluefin and yellowfin tuna grounds from San Diego to Monterey
• Shallower water or lighter current where the 250g falls at the right speed
• When fish are marking on sonar but not responding to faster jigs
• Mixed-species situations where yellowtail, tuna, and pelagics are all in the spread

Best For

• Species: Bluefin Tuna, Yellowfin Tuna, Yellowtail, Dorado, Large Pelagics
• Techniques: Free-spool drop, cast and fall, slow pitch jigging, mid-water column jigging
• Rigging: Comes rigged with two Owner dancing stinger hooks on PowerPro 300 lb assist

Key Features

• Center-balanced design — falls horizontally with a wide, erratic wobble
• Hydrodynamic flat keel — stabilizes the jig and maximizes fall action
• Longer strike zone — stays in front of fish longer than nose-down jigs
• Rigged with two Owner dancing stinger hooks on PowerPro 300 lb assist
• 250g (8.81 oz) — ideal for mid-depth and lighter current applications
• 8 colors available to match local baitfish and conditions

Tackle Express Tips

• Match color to bait and conditions: Blue Sardine and Black Anchovy are natural matches for the sardine and anchovy forage common on the West Coast. Pink Blue and Chartreuse White shine in cleaner water. Super Glow and Zebra Glow are go-to choices at depth or in low-light conditions — carry a mix and let the fish decide.
• Let the fall do the work: Resist the urge to jig aggressively. The Flat-Fall's action is in the drop — free-spool on a slack line and let the horizontal wobble trigger the bite. Most strikes happen on the fall, not the retrieve.
• Use the 250g when current is light: In heavier current or deeper water, step up to the 350g to maintain the right fall speed. The 250g is at its best in 100–300 ft of water with moderate current where the horizontal wobble has time to develop before the jig hits bottom.

FAQ

Does the 250g Butterfly Flat-Fall come with hooks?
Yes — unlike the 350g version which ships unrigged, the 250g comes fully rigged with two Owner dancing stinger hooks on a PowerPro 300 lb assist cord. It's ready to fish straight out of the package.

What's the difference between the 250g and 350g Butterfly Flat-Fall?
Both share the same center-balanced, horizontal flat-fall design. The 250g is lighter (8.81 oz) and better suited for shallower water, lighter current, and mid-depth presentations. The 350g is designed for deeper water and stronger current where you need more weight to reach the zone and maintain fall speed. The 250g also comes rigged; the 350g does not.

Which color should I choose?
Match the hatch when possible — Blue Sardine and Black Anchovy for sardine and anchovy forage; Chartreuse White and Green Silver in clear water; Super Glow and Zebra Glow at depth or in low-light. When in doubt, start with Blue Sardine or Chartreuse White and adjust based on what the fish are responding to on the day.

The Shimano Butterfly Flat-Fall Jig 80g is the lightest and most versatile weight in the Flat-Fall lineup — purpose-built for mid-water column fishing where a slow, horizontal fall triggers strikes from fish that won't chase. At 2.82 oz, it's the go-to choice for inshore and nearshore species in shallower water, and comes fully rigged with two Owner dancing stinger hooks on a PowerPro 250 lb assist cord.

The Flat-Fall Advantage

Most jigs fall nose-down and blow through the strike zone in seconds. The Butterfly Flat-Fall is center-balanced, so it falls horizontally in a wide, erratic wobble that mimics a dying baitfish. That horizontal fall keeps the jig in front of fish longer on every drop — and that extra hang time is often the difference between a bite and a miss on fish that won't commit to a faster presentation.

Why Heavier Jigs Miss Shallow Fish

In shallower water or lighter current, a 200g or 250g jig falls too fast — it blows through the strike zone before fish have time to react. The 80g is designed for exactly these conditions, falling slowly enough to stay in the zone and trigger strikes from suspended fish holding at mid-depth. It's the right tool when you're fishing 30–120 ft of water and need a jig that works the column, not just the bottom.

Rigged and Ready

The 80g Butterfly Flat-Fall comes fully rigged with two Owner dancing stinger hooks on a PowerPro 250 lb assist cord — open the package and start fishing. The stinger setup maximizes hook-up rates on fish that strike short or swipe at the jig without fully committing.

The Right Pick If...

• You're fishing shallower inshore or nearshore water (30–120 ft)
• Fish are suspended mid-column and not responding to heavier jigs
• You want a slow, deliberate fall that stays in the strike zone longer
• You're targeting calico bass, yellowtail, bonito, or mixed inshore species
• You want a rigged, ready-to-fish jig with proven Owner hooks

Best Fishing Techniques

• Free-spool drop — drop to the bottom, crank up 30 feet, then free-spool and let the jig fall on a slack line; the horizontal wobble does the work
• Cast and fall — cast the jig, free-spool as it sinks, wait for the bite, then jerk and repeat; effective on surface-feeding bonito and yellowtail
• Mid-water column jigging — work the jig through the column with short, rhythmic lifts to keep it in front of suspended fish
• Slow pitch jigging — ideal in shallower water where a slow, deliberate presentation outperforms aggressive jigging

Best Conditions

• Inshore and nearshore saltwater — kelp beds, rocky structure, and shallow reefs
• Shallower water (30–120 ft) where heavier jigs fall too fast
• Light current conditions where the 80g maintains the right fall speed
• When fish are marking mid-column and not responding to faster or heavier presentations

Best For

• Species: Calico Bass, Yellowtail, Bonito, Barracuda, Rockfish, Mixed Inshore Pelagics
• Techniques: Free-spool drop, cast and fall, mid-water column jigging, slow pitch
• Rigging: Comes rigged with two Owner dancing stinger hooks on PowerPro 250 lb assist

Key Features

• Center-balanced design — falls horizontally with a wide, erratic wobble
• Hydrodynamic flat keel — stabilizes the jig and maximizes fall action
• Longer strike zone — stays in front of fish longer than nose-down jigs
• Rigged with two Owner dancing stinger hooks on PowerPro 250 lb assist
• 80g (2.82 oz) — ideal for shallow to mid-depth inshore and nearshore fishing
• 7 colors available to match local baitfish and conditions

Tackle Express Tips

• Match color to local forage: Black Anchovy and Blue Sardine are natural matches for the baitfish most commonly found in Southern California kelp and nearshore zones. Chartreuse White and Pink Blue shine in clear water. Super Glow and Zebra Glow add visibility in deeper or low-light conditions even at this lighter weight.
• Let the fall do the work: The Flat-Fall's action is in the drop — free-spool on a slack line and let the horizontal wobble trigger the bite. Most strikes happen on the fall, not the retrieve. Resist the urge to jig aggressively, especially in shallower water where fish have more time to inspect the bait.
• Size up when current picks up: The 80g is ideal in light to moderate current. If the jig is drifting too far off vertical or not reaching the zone, step up to the 200g or 250g. Matching jig weight to current speed is the single biggest factor in getting the right fall action.

FAQ

Does the 80g Butterfly Flat-Fall come with hooks?
Yes — the 80g comes fully rigged with two Owner dancing stinger hooks on a PowerPro 250 lb assist cord. It's ready to fish straight out of the package with no additional rigging required.

What depth range is the 80g best suited for?
The 80g is designed for shallower inshore and nearshore water, typically 30–120 ft in light to moderate current. In deeper water or stronger current, the jig may drift too far off vertical and lose its horizontal fall action — step up to the 200g or 250g for those conditions.

How does the 80g compare to the heavier Flat-Fall weights?
All weights share the same center-balanced, horizontal flat-fall design. The 80g (2.82 oz) is the lightest and slowest-falling, best for shallow inshore fishing and mid-column presentations. The 200g and 250g are suited for deeper offshore water and stronger current. The 350g is designed for deep water targeting big bluefin and ling cod and ships unrigged; all other weights come rigged.

The XL Jig Built for Trophy Fish

When you're targeting the big ones — White Seabass, Yellowtail, Halibut, Lingcod, and Tuna — you need a bait that matches their appetite. The Hookup Baits XL 6" Long Jig is handcrafted in San Diego specifically for Southern California's most prized sportfish, and it fishes just as well in freshwater for big bass and trout.

Why Anglers Reach for the XL

Most soft baits are built for average fish. The XL Long Jig is built for the fish you're actually chasing. At 6" long with a premium lead head and an Owner hook, it drops fast, swims naturally, and holds up through multiple fish. The built-in garlic scent keeps fish holding on longer — giving you the extra second you need to set the hook.

The Problem With Undersized Baits

Smaller jigs get ignored by trophy-class fish, especially in deeper water where big White Seabass and Yellowtail are holding. The XL's 6" profile and weighted head get you down to the strike zone quickly without needing extra sinkers — no rigging hassle, just drop and fish.

What Sets It Apart

• Handmade in San Diego — not mass-produced overseas
• Premium Owner hooks for superior hookup ratios
• Garlic-scented body that fish hold longer
• Comes with a replacement body in the same color — built-in backup
• No extra weights needed — fishes right out of the package
• Effective in both saltwater and freshwater

The Right Pick If...

• You're targeting White Seabass, Yellowtail, or Lingcod in SoCal waters
• You need a jig that gets deep fast without extra rigging
• You want a bait with a proven scent advantage
• You're fishing kelp beds, rocky structure, or deep water columns

Best Fishing Techniques

• Slow roll: Steady retrieve near the bottom for Halibut and Lingcod
• Yo-yo jigging: Drop to depth, rip up, let it flutter — deadly on Yellowtail and White Seabass
• Drift fishing: Let the current work the bait through structure for Rockfish and Grouper
• Cast and retrieve: Works in freshwater for big bass and trout

Best Conditions

• Deep water: 40–200+ feet for Yellowtail, White Seabass, and Lingcod
• Kelp beds and rocky structure
• Current-driven drift fishing
• Clear to moderate visibility — the natural color profiles shine in both

Best For

• Species: White Seabass, Yellowtail, Halibut, Lingcod, Rockfish, Tuna, Grouper, Bass, Trout
• Techniques: Yo-yo jigging, slow roll, drift fishing, cast and retrieve
• Environments: Offshore, nearshore, kelp beds, rocky reefs, deep structure, freshwater lakes

Key Features

• 6" profile — XL size for trophy-class fish
• Premium lead head — fast sink, natural swim action
• Owner hook — industry-leading sharpness and strength
• Garlic-scented soft body
• Each package includes (1) jig + (1) replacement body in matching color
• Available in 2oz and 3oz weights
• Colors: Red Crab, Chovy, Mint, Sardine Green, Ice
• Saltwater and freshwater ready

Models & Specs

Tackle Express Tips

• Match the weight to the depth: Use 2oz in shallower nearshore water (under 60 ft) and 3oz when you need to get down fast in deeper offshore zones.
• Color by clarity: Red Crab and Chovy shine in clear water; Ice and Mint are go-to choices in low-light or murky conditions.
• Let it flutter: On the yo-yo retrieve, pause at the top of your rip and let the jig flutter down — that's when most strikes happen.

FAQ

What's included in each package?
Each package includes one 6" jig (in your selected weight and color) plus one replacement soft body in the same color — so you're covered when the body gets torn up by fish.

Can I use this jig in freshwater?
Yes. While it's designed for SoCal saltwater species, the XL Long Jig is equally effective for large freshwater bass, trout, and other predatory fish in lakes and reservoirs.

Which weight should I choose — 2oz or 3oz?
Choose 2oz for shallower water and lighter current. Go with 3oz when fishing deeper structure, stronger current, or when you need a faster drop to keep fish from losing interest.

Assault Diamond Assist Jigs come with a state of the art 3-D holographic reflective finish. The Assault pattern emulates fish scales, giving it a much more realistic presentation. This jig has proven to be one of the essential jigs in every anglers arsenal.

The enhanced rigging makes it stronger and more reliable than ever before. Assault Diamond Assist Jigs catch just about every species of gamefish from lingcod, rockfish, halibut, and tuna in the Pacific, to striped bass, bluefish, cod, and tuna on the East Coast. Fishermen in the Gulf use Assault Diamond Assist Jigs to score grouper, snapper, amberjack, and king mackerel.

The Halco Roosta Popper 160 is perfect for targeting game fish that are aggressively  attacking bait fish near or on the surface.  The hardware on these poppers is of the highest quality and will stand up to big fish like tuna, GT's, dorado, and peacock bass. They are best used with a heavy spinning rod and reel due to the higher inches of line retrieved per crank.  We prefer to have braided line with a short 3' top shot of monofilament or fluorocarbon.

While designed with a blooping style retrieve in mind, the Roosta Haymaker can be simply wound in at speed or trolled for excellent results. The recommended method of retrieval for best results is to point the rod tip at the lure, retrieve any slack line and firmly sweep the rod tip in a downward motion approximately 45 degrees. Allow the lure to rest for several seconds and if a fish hasn't taken the lure repeat as necessary.

The Nomad Tackle VERTREX MAX soft vibe is all about maximum vibration and maximum depth. It has a lifelike action that sinks level and straight, getting down to the fish faster. The deep body profile combined with finely tuned internal weights delivers a soft vibration bait with a huge vibration at super slow speed and even more vibration at higher speeds. The amount of vibration you can achieve at slow speeds just gently hopping this lure on or near the bottom is what sets the Vertrex Max apart from all other soft vibration baits. The deeper body with a wide belly design ensures that even at slow speeds the Vertrex Max is vibrating and attracting attention. The Vertrex features a full wire internal construction for extra strength and is fitted with the ultimate BKK hooks so you can fish it straight out of the box.

Vertrex Max Soft Vibe is suited to be fished at depths from 40ft-200ft of water. The Vertrex Max can be fished in a similar way to a slow pitch jig. The best technique is to drop them to the bottom and then use 3-10 slow lifts with a short pause off the bottom to get it vibrating on the lift and then as it glides back down on the drop it will often get hit. They can be worked fast or slow, but the Vertrex Max is has huge vibration at slow speeds making it highly effective for this technique.

Built on the 32824NP-BN 2x strong hook, the Mustad Big Eye Bucktail Jig features two line tie positions to give the angler options.

The nose tie allows the angler to cast and retrieve the jig, mimicking a swimming action. The top tie allows the angler to employ a more traditional jigging retrieve. But don't think there are only two uses for these jigs, clever anglers are already fitting them out for trolling dead baits for mackerel and more.

Featuring oversized 3D Eyes, the Big Eye Bucktail Jig has hand tied deer hair and Crystal Flash to give the jigs an appearance of life while being used. There is also a keeper wire located near the lead head that allows soft plastic trailers to be fitted, as well as baits.

We all know longer casts mean more water covered and the Rapala X-Rap Long Cast allows you to do just that.  Rapala has increased the weight of the 14 size to 1 7/8oz from the original X-Rap which weighs 1 1/2oz.  That's 3/8oz more weight for approximately 25% additional casting distance.  If you make 100 casts at 30 feet per cast you'd cover 3000 feet.  By using the Rapala X-Rap Long Cast, that means you will cover 750 more feet in the same period of time!  That a lot of acreage covered just by using this lure.

We are excited about fishing this long cast version for yellowtail, calico bass, and tuna.  Often times the fish are boat shy and getting just a few yards more on a cast can make that difference between a good day and a great day.  They all feature 3X strong VMC single tin hooks for maximum penetration and strength.

The Daiwa Salt Pro SP Minnow Floating Jerkbait has earned its reputation as one of the most versatile and effective saltwater hard baits available for inshore and nearshore species. Designed for a fast, ripping-style retrieve, the Salt Pro SP Minnow produces an erratic side-to-side swimming action that draws predator attention and triggers reaction strikes from calico bass, yellowtail, white seabass, and a wide range of inshore saltwater species. The internal weight transfer system shifts weight rearward on the cast for maximum distance, then repositions for optimal action on the retrieve.

Key Features

• Erratic Side-to-Side Swimming Action — Designed specifically for a fast, ripping-style retrieve that produces a wide, erratic side-to-side darting action; the unpredictable movement pattern mimics a fleeing or injured baitfish and triggers reaction strikes from predatory species that key on erratic prey movement.
• Internal Weight Transfer System — Internal weight shifts rearward during the cast for maximum casting distance; repositions forward on the retrieve for optimal swimming action and balance; allows the Salt Pro SP Minnow to be cast significantly farther than fixed-weight jerkbaits of the same size — critical for covering water on open flats and kelp edges.
• Floating (F) Action — Floating designation means the bait rises toward the surface on the pause; use the pause to change direction and depth during the retrieve, triggering strikes from fish following the bait; floating action also allows the bait to be worked over shallow structure and kelp without snagging.
• Realistic Scale Pattern & 3D Eyes — Detailed scale pattern and three-dimensional eyes provide a lifelike baitfish appearance that triggers strikes from sight-feeding predators in clear water; realistic finish complements the erratic action for a complete predator trigger package.
• Heavy-Duty Saltwater Hooks — Equipped with heavy-duty hooks rated for saltwater use; sized and rated for the sustained pressure of calico bass, yellowtail, and white seabass in structure-heavy inshore and nearshore environments.
• Two Sizes for Different Applications — 13F (5 1/8", 7/8 oz) for lighter inshore applications and matching smaller baitfish profiles; 15F (6", 1 1/9 oz) for larger presentations targeting bigger fish and matching larger forage like mackerel and grunion.

Color Guide

Natural Baitfish Colors — Best in clear water and calm conditions where fish are keying on specific forage:

• Laser Sardine — Realistic sardine imitation with laser finish; top producer for calico bass and yellowtail when sardines are the primary forage; available in 13F and 15F.
• Sand Eel — Natural sand eel profile; effective for a wide range of inshore species that key on slender baitfish; available in 13F and 15F.
• Green Mackerel / Blue Mackerel — Realistic mackerel imitations; best when mackerel are present as forage for yellowtail and calico bass; 15F only.
• Grunion — Grunion imitation; highly effective during and after grunion runs for calico bass and other inshore species; available in 13F and 15F.

Proven Design and Construction

Deadly Surface Iron Action

The Baby 5X excels with the classic yo-yo retrieve that West Coast anglers have relied on for generations. Cast the iron out, let it sink briefly, then retrieve with a rhythmic rod-pumping action that creates an erratic swimming motion. The jig darts and flashes as it moves through the water column, mimicking a fleeing baitfish and triggering reaction strikes from tuna, yellowtail, dorado, and other pelagics. The chrome finish creates maximum flash that attracts fish from a distance, while the proven shape and weight distribution ensure the jig swims perfectly on every retrieve.

Versatile Applications

Whether you're fishing the kelp beds for yellowtail, working tuna boils offshore, targeting dorado around floating debris, casting to surface-feeding bonito and skipjack, or searching for roosterfish in Baja waters, the Baby 5X delivers consistent results. The size is perfect for matching smaller baitfish while still having enough weight for long casts to distant boils and feeding frenzies. The durable construction handles the punishment of hard-fighting pelagics day after day.

West Coast Tradition

Salas surface irons have been a staple in Southern California and Baja tackle boxes for over 50 years, earning their reputation through consistent performance on the water. The Baby 5X continues this tradition, combining time-tested design with quality craftsmanship that serious West Coast anglers trust. From party boats to private vessels, from San Diego to Cabo, the Baby 5X has proven itself on countless trophy fish and remains a go-to choice when pelagics are on the bite.

The Shimano Butterfly Flat-Fall Jig 100g sits in the sweet spot of the Flat-Fall lineup — heavy enough to reach fish holding at depth, light enough to fall slowly and stay in the strike zone. At 3.52 oz, it's a versatile mid-range weight that covers yellowtail, tuna, calico bass, and mixed-species jigging from nearshore kelp beds to offshore structure. Comes fully rigged with two Owner dancing stinger hooks on a PowerPro 250 lb assist cord.

The Gap Between Too Light and Too Heavy

The 80g falls beautifully in shallow water but can struggle to reach fish in deeper structure. The 200g gets down fast but can blow through the zone in lighter current. The 100g fills that gap — it falls slowly enough to trigger strikes from suspended fish while still reaching mid-depth structure efficiently. It's the most versatile weight in the lineup for mixed-species inshore and nearshore jigging.

Rigged and Ready

The 100g Butterfly Flat-Fall comes fully rigged with two Owner dancing stinger hooks on a PowerPro 250 lb assist cord — open the package and start fishing. The stinger setup maximizes hook-up rates on fish that strike short or swipe at the jig without fully committing.

The Right Pick If...

• You're targeting yellowtail, tuna, or calico bass in 50–200 ft of water
• Fish are marking mid-column and not responding to heavier or faster jigs
• You want a versatile weight that works from kelp beds to offshore structure
• You want a rigged, ready-to-fish jig with proven Owner hooks
• You need a jig that falls slowly enough to trigger strikes from suspended fish

Best Fishing Techniques

• Free-spool drop — drop to the bottom, crank up 30 feet, then free-spool and let the jig fall on a slack line; the horizontal wobble does the work
• Cast and fall — cast the jig, free-spool as it sinks, wait for the bite, then jerk and repeat; effective on surface-feeding yellowtail and bonito
• Mid-water column jigging — work the jig through the column with short, rhythmic lifts to keep it in front of suspended fish
• Slow pitch jigging — deliberate, rhythmic lifts and drops over structure for calico bass and rockfish

Best Conditions

• Nearshore and offshore saltwater — kelp beds, rocky reefs, and mid-depth structure
• 50–200 ft of water in light to moderate current
• When fish are marking mid-column and not responding to faster or heavier presentations
• Mixed-species situations where yellowtail, tuna, calico bass, and rockfish are all in the spread

Best For

• Species: Yellowtail, Bluefin Tuna, Calico Bass, Bonito, Rockfish, Lingcod
• Techniques: Free-spool drop, cast and fall, mid-water column jigging, slow pitch
• Rigging: Comes rigged with two Owner dancing stinger hooks on PowerPro 250 lb assist

Key Features

• Center-balanced design — falls horizontally with a wide, erratic wobble
• Hydrodynamic flat keel — stabilizes the jig and maximizes fall action
• Longer strike zone — stays in front of fish longer than nose-down jigs
• Rigged with two Owner dancing stinger hooks on PowerPro 250 lb assist
• 100g (3.52 oz) — versatile mid-range weight for inshore and nearshore jigging
• 8 colors available to match local baitfish and conditions

Tackle Express Tips

• Match color to local forage: Black Anchovy and Blue Sardine are natural matches for the sardine and anchovy forage common in Southern California kelp and nearshore zones. Chartreuse White and Green Silver shine in clear water. Super Glow and Zebra Glow add visibility at depth or in low-light conditions.
• Let the fall do the work: The Flat-Fall's action is in the drop — free-spool on a slack line and let the horizontal wobble trigger the bite. Most strikes happen on the fall, not the retrieve. Resist the urge to jig aggressively, especially when fish are being selective.
• Use the 100g as your starting point: When you're not sure which weight to run, start with the 100g. It's the most versatile weight in the lineup — if fish are shallow and the jig falls too fast, drop to the 80g; if you're in deeper water or stronger current, step up to the 200g or 250g.

FAQ

Does the 100g Butterfly Flat-Fall come with hooks?
Yes — the 100g comes fully rigged with two Owner dancing stinger hooks on a PowerPro 250 lb assist cord. It's ready to fish straight out of the package with no additional rigging required.

What depth range is the 100g best suited for?
The 100g is most effective in 50–200 ft of water in light to moderate current. It's versatile enough to cover nearshore kelp beds and mid-depth offshore structure. In deeper water or stronger current, step up to the 200g or 250g to maintain the right fall speed and reach the zone efficiently.

How does the 100g compare to the other Flat-Fall weights?
The 80g is the lightest and slowest-falling, best for very shallow inshore water. The 100g is the most versatile mid-range weight, covering 50–200 ft across a wide range of species. The 200g and 250g are suited for deeper offshore water and stronger current. The 350g targets big bluefin and ling cod in deep water and ships unrigged; all other weights come rigged with Owner stinger hooks.

Classic Surface Iron Technique

The JRI-1 excels with the time-tested surface iron retrieve. Cast the iron to feeding fish or working birds, let it sink briefly, then retrieve with a rhythmic rod-pumping action that creates an erratic swimming motion. The lighter weight and smaller profile create a more subtle presentation that's ideal when fish are feeding on smaller baitfish like anchovies or when they're being selective. The compact size also makes it easier to cast on lighter tackle and work with finesse techniques.

Built for Finesse Situations

Whether you're targeting yellowtail feeding on small anchovies, working for bonito and skipjack in calm conditions, pursuing calico bass with lighter tackle, casting to picky tuna that won't hit larger irons, fishing for barracuda in clear water, or any situation where a smaller profile triggers more strikes, the JRI-1 delivers consistent results. The compact size is especially effective in calm water when fish can see larger jigs more clearly and become selective about what they'll strike.

JRI Custom Lures Quality

The JRI-1 Surface Iron continues this tradition, combining compact finesse design with meticulous craftsmanship that produces results when conditions and fish behavior demand a more subtle approach. The most versatile Tady yo-yo iron

The Tady Lure AA Iron is a proven Southern California jig at about 3.6 oz and 4¾ inches with a treble hook. It's a little lighter than the Tady A2, which makes it the most versatile iron in the Tady yo-yo group: drop it to fish holding below the surface, or cast it out and wind it back when they come up. Hand-crafted in the USA.

Why the Tady AA earns a place in the tackle box

• Proven AA shape: A long-time West Coast favorite for yellowtail and calico bass.
• 3.6 oz, 4¾-inch body: Enough weight to reach mid-depth fish, light enough to cast and wind.
• Yo-yo or cast: One iron for fish below the surface and fish that come up.
• Treble hook: The traditional iron hook setup.
• Chrome and painted finishes: Match the bait, light and water clarity.
• Hand-crafted in the USA: Built with the consistency expected from Tady Lures.

How to fish the Tady AA

• Yo-yo: Drop to the depth where fish are marking, engage the reel and wind fast and steady back through the strike zone.
• Cast and wind: When fish come up, cast past them and wind steadily with the rod tip down. Don't pump the rod; the iron creates its own action.
• Around structure: Work it along kelp edges, rocky reef and banks where yellowtail and calico bass hold.

Best for

• Species: Yellowtail, calico bass, bonito, barracuda and white seabass.
• Water: Kelp beds, rocky reef, offshore banks and open-water feeding zones.
• Use case: One mid-weight iron when conditions can change during the day.

Compare other Tady irons

• Tady A2: same 4¾-inch length but heavier at about 4–4.3 oz, so it gets down faster in current.

Frequently asked questions

How much does the Tady AA weigh?

About 3.6 oz depending on the finish, with a 4¾-inch body.

What's the difference between the AA and the A2?

They're the same length, but the A2 is heavier at roughly 4–4.3 oz. The A2 gets down faster and handles more current. The lighter AA is more versatile and can also be cast and wound.

What's the difference between the AA and the Tady 9?

The Tady 9 has a fuller body and a slightly shorter 4½-inch length, so it flutters more softly on the drop. The AA is slimmer and the more versatile of the two.

Can I fish the AA on the surface?

Yes. Cast it and wind it back when fish come up. For fish feeding on top all day, a dedicated surface iron such as the Tady 45 is the standard choice.

Which color should I start with?

Start with Blue White year-round, Scrambled Egg when fish are on sardines or in greener water, and match the finish to the bait and water clarity.
