The Rapala Mechanical Spring Scales are excellent for setting the drag on your reels. They are very accurate and they hold the last position that the indicator was at, allowing you to set your drag without the help of anyone else.

The reason we like to have a spring scale is there is not batteries to die.  It's always there for you even though it might not be the most accurate scale, it gives you an approximation on the size of the fish you caught.  We wouldn't recommend it for fish smaller than 5lbs as the scale tends to be inaccurate with smaller fish.
