The Shimano SLX DC Casting Reels are a game-changing addition to Shimano's mid-range baitcasting lineup, introduced in 2019 and still a top seller in 2025 for their accessible DC (Digital Control) braking technology.

Built on the compact, rigid SLX platform, these low-profile reels deliver flagship-level casting performance without the premium price, making them ideal for bass, inshore, and versatile freshwater/saltwater applications. The I-DC4 braking system uses a microcomputer to monitor spool speed 1,000 times per second, applying precise brakes to prevent backlashes and maximize distance—adjustable via four external modes for braid, fluoro, mono, or custom settings.

Encased in a durable HAGANE Body for flex-free cranking power, they're powered by reliable brass gearing and feature Super Free Spool for frictionless casts.

For the money, one of the best reels I've ever owned! I have 2! I highly recommend you trying one. The microchip actually does eliminate birdnes...I mean professional backlash ⚠️⚠️⚠️
