The Owner Ringed Mutu Circle Hook is the leader in circle hooks. As with any circle hook, never set the hook. If you get bit, point the rod tip at the fish and wind until you feel the rod load up. Then raise the rod tip slowly and hang on!

The welded ring on these hooks gives you the added security you need when fighting big fish. The barb is significant in size giving you the confidence you need to keep the fish from coming unbuttoned. Hookup Baits Small Jig gives a whole new meaning to a "Mini Jig", these have an action like now other.  With a spiral action on the fall and an erratic dart action with a pop of the rod tip. Great to fool any stocker trout and subtle enough to entices the big natural browns.

There are many ways to fish the hookup bait but casting it out and letting it fall on a tight line will pendulum it down in an arc.  This can be very effective since it allows the bait to swim as it falls.  This is effective when fish are suspended in the column and not on the top or bottom.

If fish are on the bottom, we like to let it sink to the bottom and pop it off the bottom and then allowing it to sink back down.  Continue this retrieve all the way back to the boat or shore.

If they are in the upper part of the column, cast and start retrieving soon after the lure hits the surface.  Most of the time a slow and steady retrieve works best but you can also burn it on the surface for very active surface feeding fish.

DaHo Hollow Threading Needles are precision-made stainless steel hypodermic tube needles designed for threading mono and fluorocarbon leader through hollow braided line. Each needle is sized by its length for easy identification — stand them on their open end and find the right size at a glance. The smallest (10–20# size) measures 5.3" and each larger needle is 0.1" longer than the last, up to 6.4" for the 300–400# size.

The primary sizing dimension is the ID (Internal Diameter), which indicates the approximate mono/fluoro line size that fits inside. This clamp is newest and most versatile clamp in today’s market with confirmed fitment on 40 plus reels it is a true universal clamp all in one.  The clamp is designed to be mounted on your rod and to be able to interchange reels without removing any screws or taking off the clamp.

The Mini Super Clamp is the first clamp of its kind designed to fit smaller reels on skinnier rods. It fits reels that do not come with stock clamps where an aftermarket attachment is a necessity to mount on a deckhand rod. It fits the Lexa 300, Tranx 300, Avet SXJ(non raptor), Trinidad 12 and Trinidad 16NA to name a few. These reels do not come with a stock clamp and have been an issue mounting on deckhand rods for years. With constant requests we took the challenge and now created a clamp for theses smaller reels. While the clamp is extremely versatile it has its limitations on the diameter rod it can be mounted on. The clamp is designed to fit rod diameters between 1 1/8″ – 7/8″ (28MM- 22MM) which is appropriate for the reel class size 10-25lb rods. Some rod examples are Seeker 196,270, Calstar 800XL, 800L Phenix M1.

Retrieval Tip

A slow, steady retrieve without twitching produces the best results with the Mini Tube Jig. The tube’s natural action is most effective when the bait is allowed to move on its own — twitching can disrupt the tube flutter and reduce strikes. Looking to change the handle on your Shimano Tranx Reel?  This Shimano Tranx Paddle Handle is OEM and is made to fit all Tranx 300A and 400A size reels.  This handle fits the Tranx 300, 301, 300HG, 301HG, 400, 401, 400HG, 401HG.

This Shimano made handle is easy to replace, just remove your existing nut lock screw, the nut lock plate, and the chrome nut. Remove your existing handle and replace it with the new handle.  Be careful that the drag star doesn't pop off, it has a spring under it which gives it pressure from below.  Replace the parts you took off making sure not to over tighten the chrome nut. The nut lock plate might take a little adjustment so the plate nut screw lines up with the screw hole.

The power handle version is a single knob to give you a better grip and more power on bigger fish. The power handle works best when you need more power and torque on bigger fish.  We find the power handle is better on bigger fish or if you have a problem with your hand slipping off on an aggressive bite.  On the west coast, we like the power handle for fishing surface irons and yoyo irons like the Salas 7X, Salas 6X or Tady 45 and Tady 4/0.

Owner Mutu Circle Hooks are made using a 2X strong shank. They are rated for use up to 50lb test line. This is the preferred hook for tuna fishing in Southern California on small grade fish, say up to 60 pounds.  

This medium diameter hook doesn't damage the bait as much as a thicker hook, this allows the bait to swim more freely.  Sometimes reducing the hook size will produce more bites and this hook is still very strong even in the smaller sizes.  

Just remember to not swing the rod when you get bit, simply turn the handle on the reel until it comes tight and the line starts ripping off the reel.
