Specifications

The Reaction Innovations Little Dipper 3.5" is a compact paddle tail swimbait built around a thumping tail action that produces a tight, rhythmic thump on the retrieve — effective as a standalone swimbait on a jig head or weighted hook, and equally effective as a trailer on a swim jig, chatterbait, or umbrella rig. The 3.5" profile matches smaller baitfish and is ideal for finesse and pressured conditions where a larger swimbait profile gets ignored. 9 per pack in 6 colors.

Key Features

• Thumping Paddle Tail — Tight Rhythmic Action — The paddle tail produces a tight, thumping action on the retrieve that creates vibration and water displacement; the tail thumps rhythmically at a wide range of retrieve speeds, from a slow roll near the bottom to a faster mid-water retrieve; the tight thump is most effective for triggering reaction strikes from bass that are actively feeding on baitfish.
• 3.5" Compact Profile — Finesse & Pressured Conditions — The 3.5" size matches smaller shad, shiners, and baitfish profiles and is most effective when bass are keying on smaller forage or when a larger swimbait profile is getting ignored; compact enough for light jig heads (1/8–3/16 oz) and finesse swim jig applications.
• Versatile Trailer & Standalone Applications — Effective as a standalone swimbait on a jig head or weighted hook, and as a trailer on a swim jig, chatterbait, or umbrella rig; the paddle tail adds action to any moving bait application.
• 9 Per Pack — 6 Colors — Nine baits per pack across 6 colors spanning shad, bream, and natural baitfish patterns.

Color Selection Guide

Best For

• Swim Jig Trailer — Primary Application — Thread the Little Dipper on the back of a swim jig for a full-profile baitfish presentation; the paddle tail adds a thumping action to the swim jig on the retrieve that complements the jig’s skirt movement; most effective on a steady retrieve through grass edges, laydowns, and open water.
• Chatterbait Trailer — Thread on the back of a chatterbait for a swimbait trailer that adds profile and paddle tail action to the blade’s vibration; the combination of the chatterbait’s blade thump and the Little Dipper’s paddle tail creates a highly effective baitfish presentation for reaction strikes.
• Umbrella Rig — Use as one of the trailer baits on an umbrella rig for a multi-bait schooling baitfish presentation; the 3.5" size is ideal for umbrella rig applications where a compact profile is needed.
• Standalone Swimbait — Jig Head — Thread on a 1/8–3/16 oz jig head and swim steadily for a compact baitfish imitation; most effective when bass are actively feeding on smaller baitfish near the surface or along grass edges; vary the retrieve speed to find the cadence that triggers strikes.

The Reaction Innovations Skinny Dipper is a 5-inch soft plastic paddle-tail swimbait for bass fishing around grass, along cover edges, and over offshore structure. Its slender body suits several rigging styles, so you can change depth and presentation without changing the bait's profile. Each pack contains 7 baits in your selected color.

Why choose the Skinny Dipper?

• Paddle-tail action: The tail moves on the retrieve, giving a swimming presentation to a slim baitfish profile.
• Flexible rigging: Fish it weightless, on a weighted hook or jighead, or on a Texas or Carolina rig.
• Salt-infused plastic: Reaction Innovations adds salt to the body.

Specifications

• Brand / model: Reaction Innovations Skinny Dipper
• Length: 5 inches
• Style: Soft plastic paddle-tail swimbait
• Quantity: 7 baits per pack
• Selection: Color variants; rigging tackle sold separately

Choose your presentation

Try a weightless, concealed-hook rig over shallow grass. A weighted swimbait hook helps work deeper along vegetation edges while keeping the point protected. In open water, a jighead offers another way to control depth. A Carolina rig is an option for working humps and creek channels.

Start with a color that resembles the local forage. Money Shot/Green, Bad Shad/Green, and Guntersville Shad are options to compare for a baitfish presentation; White Trash offers a light, solid alternative. Use the variant photos to compare finishes and the selector to check current availability.

3 Tackle Express Tips

1. Rig it straight. Mark the hook exit point before threading the bait. A bent body can roll; make a short test retrieve beside the boat or bank and adjust before casting.
2. Find the slowest useful retrieve. Watch the tail near the surface, then use a pace that keeps it moving. Adjust weight when you need more depth instead of relying only on retrieve speed.
3. Check hook clearance. The existing rigging guidance allows hooks up to a 6/0 superline size, but actual fit varies by hook design. Make sure the body can compress and expose the point without stretching the bait.

Frequently asked questions

How big is the Skinny Dipper, and how many come in a pack?

This model is 5 inches long and comes in a 7-pack.

Can I fish it without a weight?

Yes. Weightless rigging is one of the manufacturer's recommended options, especially worth trying for a shallow presentation.

Is it suitable for fishing around grass?

Yes. Conceal the hook point for working around vegetation, and adjust weight to the depth. No rig is completely snag-proof; clear grass from the hook and tail when needed.

Can I use it on a jighead or Carolina rig?

Yes. Reaction Innovations lists both methods. Match the hook to the body and keep the tail free to move.

Why Buy the Yamamoto Scope Shad?

Forward-facing sonar has changed bass fishing forever — and the Yamamoto Scope Shad was built to keep up. Its slender, hydrodynamic shad profile is engineered to be seen and eaten by fish you're watching in real time on your screen. When you spot a bass hovering at 30 feet and drop the Scope Shad right in front of its nose, you'll understand why this bait was purpose-built for the modern FFS angler. Available in 3", 3.5", and 4" sizes across 18 colors. 10 per pack at $4.49.

Main Use & Benefit

A slender-profile finesse swimbait designed specifically for forward-facing sonar (FFS) presentations — its hydrodynamic shad silhouette, subtle tail kick, and neutral buoyancy make it deadly on drop shot, shaky head, and finesse swimbait rigs for bass watching suspended or structure-oriented fish in real time.

Problem It Solves

Standard soft plastics weren't designed with FFS in mind — their profiles, fall rates, and action don't translate well when fish are watching a bait approach from a distance on sonar. The Scope Shad's slender shad silhouette and natural fall rate are optimized for FFS visibility and triggering strikes from fish you can see on screen, at any depth.

Advantages

• ✅ Purpose-built for forward-facing sonar — slender profile reads clearly on FFS screens
• ✅ Natural shad silhouette triggers strikes from fish watching the bait approach
• ✅ Three sizes (3", 3.5", 4") to match the hatch at any depth or forage size
• ✅ 18 color options — natural forage to high-vis reaction shades
• ✅ Yamamoto premium soft plastic formula — lifelike action, durable material
• ✅ 10 per pack at $4.49 — excellent value for a specialty FFS bait
• ⚠️ Specialty FFS/finesse bait — not designed for power fishing, heavy cover, or reaction presentations

When to Choose It

Reach for the Scope Shad when you're running forward-facing sonar and need a bait that reads clearly on screen and triggers strikes from fish you can see. It's equally effective as a traditional drop shot or shaky head bait in clear water and deep structure situations where a slender shad profile outperforms bulkier soft plastics.

Best Fishing Techniques

• Forward-Facing Sonar (FFS) Drop Shot — the primary application; nose-hook on a #1 or #2 hook, 12–24" above the weight; watch the bait on screen and trigger strikes from fish you can see in real time
• Traditional Drop Shot — deadly on suspended fish and deep structure without FFS; subtle tail kick triggers finicky bass on the shake
• Shaky Head — thread onto a 3/16–1/4 oz shaky head for a stand-up presentation on hard bottom; the slender profile reads naturally on FFS
• Finesse Swimbait / Underspin — swim on a light underspin or swimbait head for a horizontal baitfish presentation through open water and over structure
• Ned Rig — compact presentation on hard bottom for finicky fish in clear water

Best Conditions

• Clear to lightly stained water where FFS is most effective (visibility 3ft+)
• Deep water (15–50ft) where FFS excels at locating suspended and structure-oriented fish
• Post-frontal and slow-bite conditions when finesse is the only answer
• Highland reservoirs, clear natural lakes, and deep impoundments
• Summer and fall when bass push to deeper structure and baitfish schools

Best For

Key Features

• Slender shad profile — hydrodynamic silhouette optimized for FFS visibility and natural fall
• Three sizes: 3", 3.5", 4" — match the hatch at any depth or forage size
• 18 color options — natural forage shades to high-vis reaction colors
• Yamamoto premium soft plastic formula — lifelike action, durable, natural feel
• Neutral buoyancy — stays in the strike zone longer on the fall and pause
• 10 per pack

Water Type: Freshwater | Target Species: Bass, Walleye

Tackle Express Tips

1. Size down for deeper fish — The 3" is your go-to for suspended fish in deep, clear water where a smaller profile is less intimidating. Move up to the 3.5" or 4" when fish are actively feeding or you need more visibility on your FFS screen.
2. Match the forage first — Natural Shad, Tennessee Shad, and Sexy Shad are your best natural forage matches in clear water. Switch to Electric Shad, Chartreuse Electric Blue, or Sight Flash when you need a reaction color in stained water or low light.
3. Watch the bait, not the rod — On FFS, keep your eyes on the screen and watch how fish react to the Scope Shad on the fall. If fish follow but don't commit, slow your fall rate by dropping to a lighter drop shot weight or switching to a smaller size.

FAQ

Q: What makes the Scope Shad different from other drop shot baits?
A: The Scope Shad was specifically engineered for forward-facing sonar fishing — its slender shad profile reads clearly on FFS screens and triggers strikes from fish watching the bait approach. Most drop shot baits weren't designed with FFS visibility in mind; the Scope Shad was built from the ground up for this application.

Q: Which size should I start with?
A: Start with the 3" in clear water and when targeting suspended fish at depth. Move to the 3.5" as your all-around size, and use the 4" when bass are actively feeding on larger baitfish or you need more profile visibility on your FFS screen.

Q: Can I use the Scope Shad without forward-facing sonar?
A: Absolutely — the Scope Shad is a deadly traditional drop shot and shaky head bait even without FFS. Its slender shad profile and natural action trigger strikes from finicky bass in clear water and deep structure situations regardless of your electronics setup.

Why Buy the Yamamoto Shad Shape Swimmer?

The Yamamoto Shad Shape Swimmer is a finesse swimbait built for anglers who demand lifelike action at every retrieve speed. Its slim, ribbed body and dynamic paddle tail produce an ultra-natural swimming motion that triggers strikes from even the wariest bass — whether you're swimming it on a swimbait head, hovering it on a drop shot, or working it on a hover rig. Available in 3.2", 3.7", and 4.2" sizes across 17 proven colors. 8 per pack.

Main Use & Benefit

A slim-profile paddle tail finesse swimbait designed for natural swimming action on swimbait heads, drop shots, and hover rigs — effective for largemouth, smallmouth, and spotted bass in clear to lightly stained water across a wide range of depths and presentations.

Problem It Solves

Bulky swimbaits and standard soft plastics don't produce the subtle, lifelike swimming action that triggers finicky bass in clear water and pressured fisheries. The Shad Shape Swimmer's slim ribbed body and paddle tail create a natural baitfish action at any retrieve speed — slow enough to hover in place on a drop shot, fast enough to swim convincingly on a swimbait head.

Advantages

• ✅ Slim ribbed body + dynamic paddle tail — ultra-natural swimming action at any speed
• ✅ Three sizes (3.2", 3.7", 4.2") to match the hatch at any depth or forage size
• ✅ 17 color options — natural forage shades to high-vis reaction colors
• ✅ Versatile — swimbait head, drop shot, hover rig, underspin, and FFS presentations
• ✅ Yamamoto premium soft plastic formula — lifelike action, durable material
• ✅ 8 per pack — excellent value
• ⚠️ Finesse swimbait — not designed for power fishing or heavy cover applications

When to Choose It

Reach for the Shad Shape Swimmer when bass are keying on baitfish in open water, when finesse presentations outperform reaction baits, or when you need a swimbait that produces natural action at slow retrieve speeds. It's equally effective on forward-facing sonar, traditional drop shot, and hover rig setups in clear to lightly stained water.

Best Fishing Techniques

• Swimbait Head — thread onto a 1/8–3/8 oz swimbait head and swim at a slow, steady retrieve; the paddle tail kicks naturally at any speed
• Drop Shot — nose-hook on a #1 or #2 hook, 12–24" above the weight; swim or shake for a horizontal baitfish presentation on FFS or traditional setups
• Hover Rig / Neko Rig — nail weight in the nose for a head-down hover presentation; the paddle tail flutters naturally on the pause
• Underspin — thread onto a light underspin for added flash and vibration through open water and over structure
• Wacky Rig — hook through the body for a fluttering fall around docks and laydowns

Best Conditions

• Clear to lightly stained water where natural action is most visible
• Open water and mid-depth structure (10–30ft) on swimbait heads and drop shots
• Forward-facing sonar presentations targeting suspended and structure-oriented fish
• Post-frontal and slow-bite conditions when finesse is the only answer
• Spring and fall when bass are actively chasing baitfish schools

Tackle Express Tips

1. Size to the forage — Start with the 3.2" in clear water and when bass are keying on small shad. Move to the 3.7" as your all-around size, and use the 4.2" when bass are actively feeding on larger baitfish or you need more profile visibility on FFS.
2. Match the water clarity — Natural Shad, Sexy Shad, and Tennessee Shad are your best natural forage matches in clear water. Switch to Electric Shad, Sight Flash, or Stealth Chart Purple in stained water or low light for a reaction color.
3. Slow down on the swimbait head — The Shad Shape Swimmer's paddle tail produces its best action at a slow, steady retrieve. Resist the urge to speed up — a slow, deliberate swim just above the bottom or through the strike zone is where most bites happen.

FAQ

Q: What's the difference between the 3.2", 3.7", and 4.2" sizes?
A: The 3.2" is your finesse and clear-water option — best for pressured fish and when bass are keying on small shad. The 3.7" is the all-around size for most situations. The 4.2" is your big-water and active-feeding option when bass are chasing larger baitfish or you need more profile on FFS.

Q: What swimbait head weight works best with the Shad Shape Swimmer?
A: For the 3.2" and 3.7", 1/8 to 3/16 oz swimbait heads work well in shallow to mid-depth water. For the 4.2" or deeper presentations, 1/4 to 3/8 oz gives you better depth control and a more natural fall rate.

Q: Can I use the Shad Shape Swimmer on forward-facing sonar?
A: Absolutely — the slim profile and natural paddle tail action make it an excellent FFS bait. Rig it on a drop shot or swimbait head and watch how fish react to it on screen. The 3.2" is particularly effective for FFS presentations targeting suspended fish in clear water.
