The Shimano Curado BFS (Bait Finesse System) expands the Curado lineup of low-profile reels while redefining finesse fishing for tournament anglers. Inspired by the Japanese Domestic Market (JDM), the Shimano Curado BFS baitcaster utilizes an ultra-lightweight shallow spool designed for thinner diameter lines to allow anglers to cast lightweight lures more effectively than traditional low-profile models.

The Curado BFS incorporates Shimano's Finesse Tune Brake (FTB) system to reduce the spool's weight by moving the braking unit from the spool to the palming side-plate. The result: the spool takes minimal force to turn and allows anglers to effectively cast lightweight tackle.

Unlike traditional magnetic brake systems that maintain the same drag on the spool throughout the cast, Shimano's FTB capitalizes on the cast's centrifugal force and the magnetic brakes automatically adjust to slow down the spool only when braking is needed. Fully adjustable, anglers can fine-tune the FTB with the external dial or by adding or removing individual magnets as needed. The perfect antidote for picky fish, the Shimano Curado BFS is the ideal tool for anglers to downsize baits to increase their success on the water.

Designed by surfcasters for surfcasters, the Shimano Bluewave Surf Bags are built to handle the tough conditions surfcasting anglers endure. Constructed with premium materials and designed to safely hold casting lures and tackle when chasing trophy fish in the surf. The Bluewave Surf Bag is built with premium fabrics and heavy-duty TPU zippers while boasting performance-driven features including vertical tubes for lure storage to prevent hook tangles and a mesh bottom to facilitate rinsing and quick drying of tackle.

Available in two sizes — the Medium includes three cylindrical tubes for lure storage and the Large includes four — the Bluewave Surf Bag is an essential accessory for anglers to conquer the surf.

Features:

• Heavy TPU Corrosion-Resistant Zippers
• Heavy Denier Rip-Stop Polyester Fabric
• Heavy-Duty Outer Liner Increases Rigidity

The Shimano Twin Power SW Spinning Reels are designed for anglers demanding strength and durability. The TwinPower SWC dominates even the most challenging fighting offshore game fish. Now featuring Infinity Drive to provide anglers with more cranking power under load, the TwinPower SW will put anglers in the driver's seat to win the battle even against the most hard-fighting game fish.

New for 2021, the TwinPower SW 10000 and 14000 models incorporate Shimano's Heatsink Drag to deliver overwhelming drag performance by dissipating heat away from the spool to reduce drag-force drop caused by friction. The Heatsink Drag also provides insulation against potentially-damaging heat flowing into the line to give the anglers increased performance during blistering runs and long fights with hard-fighting game fish.

Whether targeting reef species with jigs or pitching live baits to pelagics, the new TwinPower SW empowers anglers to have a distinct advantage and conquer any battle.

Protect Your Investment in Style

Your Shimano Talica is a serious offshore reel — built to handle tuna, marlin, and wahoo in the harshest bluewater conditions. These OEM-fit reel covers are the easiest way to keep that reel looking showroom-fresh between trips, in storage, and in transit. Don't let dust, salt residue, or dings chip away at a reel you worked hard for.

Built for the Talica Series

Designed specifically for the Shimano Talica lineup (sizes 8 through 50), these covers deliver a precision fit that generic covers simply can't match. They also fit the Shimano Speedmaster in corresponding sizes — one less thing to hunt for.

What Happens Without a Cover

Exposed reels collect salt residue, dust, and UV damage during storage and transport. Over time, that leads to cosmetic wear, corrosion on exposed metal, and a reel that looks years older than it is. A proper-fitting cover costs a fraction of a detail job — or a replacement.

Why This One Over a Generic

• Exact-fit design made specifically for Talica reels — not a one-size-fits-most stretch cover
• Sleek, professional look that matches Shimano's premium aesthetic
• Lightweight and easy to slip on/off between sessions
• Also compatible with Shimano Speedmaster (matching sizes)
• Covers the full Talica lineup: 8, 10, 12, 16, 20, 25, and 50

The Right Pick If…

• You own a Shimano Talica or Speedmaster and want a brand-matched, precision-fit cover
• You run multiple reels and store them between offshore trips or seasons
• You travel to long-range destinations where reels sit in bags or rod lockers for days
• Gear presentation matters — tournament fishing, charter work, or just taking pride in your setup

At Home in the Spread

• Offshore trolling for tuna, marlin, and wahoo
• Deep-drop and live bait fishing
• Jigging in bluewater and nearshore environments
• Long-range and overnight trips

Best Conditions

• Saltwater offshore and bluewater environments
• Long-range trips where reels are stored between fishing days
• Tournament and charter fishing where gear appearance matters

Best For

• Offshore anglers targeting tuna, marlin, wahoo, and swordfish
• Anglers with multiple Talica or Speedmaster reels in rotation
• Anyone storing reels long-term between seasons

Key Features

• Designed specifically for Shimano Talica reels
• Fits sizes: Small (8–10), Medium (12–16), Large (20–25), XL (50)
• Also fits Shimano Speedmaster in corresponding sizes
• Lightweight, durable construction
• Sleek design that complements Shimano's premium look

Tackle Express Tips

• Rinse your reel with fresh water and let it dry completely before covering — trapping moisture accelerates corrosion.
• If you run multiple Talica sizes, grab covers for each — they're size-specific and won't stretch to fit a larger reel.
• Store covered reels in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight to maximize longevity.

Tournament-tough and built to handle the heaviest presentations, the Shimano Curado 300 K is a large-capacity baitcasting reel engineered for anglers who fish big baits for big fish. Its deep 300-size spool holds heavy mono and braid with ease, while the long handle and wide-grip knobs deliver the cranking power you need when a trophy fish finally commits.

Available Models:

The Zodias Casting Rods are a favorite among pros for their balance of Japanese engineering and real-world durability—available at Tackle Warehouse, Bass Pro Shops, or Shimano's site. Users rave about the "crisp feel" and lightweight design, though some note longer handles for shorter effective length. Pair with Shimano Curado reels for optimal synergy.

Small in hand but large in durability, dependability and performance, the Shimano Curado MGL 70 K is a new addition to Shimano’s coveted line of Curado low-profile reels. The reel’s lightweight MGL Spool requires less start-up energy due to decreased inertia and results in longer casts with reduced effort. This advanced feature also allows the reel to excel for anglers fishing with finesses baits, such as handmade balsa baits, or lures that require light line for maximum fishability.

The Curado MGL 70 K is a great reel choice for anglers pitching and flipping in tight cover when increased line capacity is not required. But anglers shouldn’t be concerned about its compact size when fighting fish in close quarters or heavy cover, it is equipped with a Cross Carbon Drag to provide the needed stopping power against large fish. And just like the rest of the Curado family of reels, the versatile Curado MGL 70 K features MicroModule Gear for enhanced smoothness as well as a HAGANE Body for increased rigidity and durability for years of fishing performance.

Features:

• HAGANE Body
• MGL Spool II
• MicroModule Gear
• SVS Infinity
• CI4+ (Side Plate)
• Cross Carbon Drag
• X-Ship
• S3D Spool

• S A-RB

Shimano Ocea Jigger Star Drag Reels are purpose-built conventional reels for slow-pitch and vertical jigging. Infinity Drive reduces friction between the spool shaft and pinion gear, while MicroModule Gearing delivers a smooth, precise gear feel when you are working a jig all day.

Choose the 2000NR models for a compact deep-water jigging setup or step up to the 4000 size when you need more line capacity and heavier drag. The PG models favor a slower, more powerful retrieve, while HG models pick up line faster between drops.

When Jigging Demands More Than a General Reel

Jigging rewards control, rhythm, and repeatable depth. The Ocea Jigger combines an adjustable long crank handle, easy-to-tune star drag, Auto-Clutch free-spool control, spool lock, and a drag sound that helps you stay aware of line leaving the reel. The trade-off is specialization: this is a star-drag jigging reel first, not a broad-purpose trolling or two-speed lever-drag reel.

Features That Earn Their Place

Models & Confirmed Specifications

The table is built to scroll horizontally on smaller screens. These are the four current size options shown in the product listing.

Best For

• Slow-pitch jigging for yellowtail, tuna, amberjack, snapper, grouper, rockfish, and lingcod.
• Vertical jigging over reefs, deep structure, and offshore marks.
• Anglers who want star-drag simplicity, a long handle, and a smooth retrieve.
• Jig anglers choosing between faster HG line pickup, slower PG torque, and heavier 4000-size capacity.

Best Techniques & Conditions

• Slow-pitch jigging: Choose the PG when a slower cadence and more controlled retrieve fit the bite.
• Fast vertical work: Choose the HG when quicker line pickup helps you reset between drops.
• Deep-water structure: The 4000 models provide more listed PowerPro capacity and higher listed max drag for demanding presentations.
• Open-water jigging: Use the adjustable long crank handle to maintain leverage through repeated lifts and retrieves.

The Right Pick If...

• You prefer a star drag over a lever drag for quick, familiar adjustment.
• You want a dedicated jigging reel rather than a general-purpose conventional reel.
• You need a compact 2000NR platform or the greater capacity and drag rating listed for the 4000 models.
• You fish saltwater and are prepared to rinse and maintain the reel after each trip.

Tackle Express Tips

• Match the retrieve to the jig: Use the PG for a slower, more deliberate cadence and the HG when faster recovery matters.
• Set the handle before you drop: Adjust the long crank handle for comfortable leverage so your retrieve stays consistent.
• Protect the rotation: Rinse with low-pressure freshwater after saltwater use, then let the reel dry fully before storage.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between the Ocea Jigger HG and PG?

HG models have faster listed gear ratios and retrieve rates, while PG models use a slower 5.1:1 ratio and lower listed retrieve rate for a more deliberate, powerful jigging cadence.

Which size should I choose?

The 2000NR models are the compact choice for the listed 40-, 50-, and 65-pound PowerPro capacities. The 4000 models offer substantially more listed line capacity and a 40-pound max drag rating for heavier vertical work.

Is this a good reel for trolling?

The Ocea Jigger Star Drag is optimized for slow-pitch and vertical jigging. If trolling, broad bait work, or two-speed control is your priority, compare a lever-drag conventional reel instead.

Compare Shimano Jigging Reels

For lever-drag jigging control, compare the Shimano Ocea Jigger LD Reels. For another compact jigging option, see the Shimano Torium A 2000HG Jigging Special. You can also browse the Shimano Conventional Reels collection or read the Shimano Conventional Reels Buyer's Guide.
