It's a classic and it still works, the Blakemore Road Runner Bucktail Jig is hard to beat. This classic underpin lure catches fish at all depths and in most conditions.  You can slow roll it on the bottom or burn it on the surface.  Hoping it off the bottom or ripping it off the bottom are also very effective on winter fish.  

The powder coated pain finish on the head is durable and they take great care not to have it get on the eye for easy tying.  Put a fluke or small paddle tail on the back to make this lure even more enticing.  The Blakemore Road Runner Bucktail Jig is one every angler should have in the box.

The Savage Gear 3D Shine Glide 185 is a slow sinking erratic swimming glide bait. These baits have been deadly on a multitude of game fish from largemouth bass to musky. On a slow retrieve the bait glides from side to side. A pop of the rod tip will increase the darting action. Deadly on a twitch and stop retrieve.

We like to fish this bait slowly with a steady retrieve but there are times when we twitch the rod tip.  It washes out if its fished too quickly and we usually get bit on a slow and steady retrieve.  Another favorite method is to start twitching it as soon as it hits the surface.  A slow methodical upward pump of the rod tip while slowly turning the handle makes this bait flop back and forth on the surface.  Keeping this going can keep the bait in the strike zone longer, giving the fish an irresistible presentation.  

We fish the Savage Gear 3D Roach Shine Glide 185mm on 20lb line with a medium fast action 7'6" rod.  Try one out, we think you'll like it.

If you're looking for a bait that provides the look of a tube bait, but has the fall rate of a bulkier heavy bait then check out the Yamamoto Fat Ika.

We like it rigged on a 4/0 wide gap hook from Owner or Gamakatsu EWG but our favorite is the Owner 4/0 Beast Hook.  The beast hook gap is larger allowing for the hook to come through the plastic for better hooks sets.  The screw in CPS spring holds it extremely well and won't tear out in most circumstances.  

It has the skirted bottom of a tube, and the body of a grub with a little extra bulk. With the Fat Ika you can jig and swim more accurately than with most tube baits.

As it falls, it has a built-in side to side movement, which is all the bass need some days.
