Lucky Craft Flash Minnow 110 CIF Surf Jerkbait
The surf is pounding, the tide is moving, and somewhere in the wash a halibut is hunting. Cast the Lucky Craft Flash Minnow 110 into the break, let it work at 2 feet, and hold on. Part of Lucky Craft's California Inshore Fishing (CIF) lineup, the Flash Minnow 110 has been a go-to for inshore saltwater and surf anglers for years β proven on halibut, large perch, corvina, and just about anything else that swims in the surf zone.
The Flash Minnow 110 is as versatile as it is effective. Straight-wind it for a steady swimming action, or rip and pause to trigger reaction strikes β both techniques work, and alternating between them on successive casts is a great way to dial in what the fish want on any given day. For best results, pair it with a 7'6" to 8' medium to medium-heavy rod with fast action, and spool up with 12 lb fluorocarbon for durability in sand and rocks.

Β When fish are breaking the surface or just subsurface, the Shimano Current SniperΒ Sinking Stickbait is going to be deadly! Β This sinking stickbait is perfect for when fish are feeding on the surface and uses superior finishes and stout 3X strong hooks and split rings. Β There are several retrieval methods that can be used effectively on many different predator fish.Β Β
This was previously known as the Coltsniper.
Subsurface walk-the-dog is a very effective method and creates the illusion of a fleeing baitfish. Β This can be more easily created using a spinning setup like the Shimano Thunnus and Shimano Terez but conventional rods and reels may also be used. Moving the rod tip while winding the reel with short pauses will cuase the bait to move left and right. Β It's very important to give the lure some slack after pulling it each time. Β If slack isn't given after each pull, the lure will not have the line needed to glide momentarily before you pull it again. Β Skipping the lure on the surface is also a technique that can invoke a strike. Cast as far as you can and don't let it sink out. Β Wind back the lure as fast as you can so that it skips on the surface.
We are excited to use the Shimano Current SniperΒ Stickbait on yellowtail, tuna, calico bass and striper here in Southern California. Β We are sure it will work for any agressive predator fish you have. Β Ideally we would use a 8,000 to 12,000 size Shimano Thunus or Stella spinning reel and an 8' to 9' Shimano Terez or Ocea Plugger spinning rod. Β Line class is going to depend on what you are fishing for but 50-80lb Power Pro with a 4-7 foot monofilament or fluorocarbon leader would be ideal. Β The leader size will differ but 30-50lb line would be normal range for this type of fishing. Β Using a split ring on the nose with a solid ring on the split ring would allow the lure to move correctly. Β You can also tie a loop knot of your chose to allow lure movement. Β

Sinking
Β The Shimano Current SniperΒ Jerkbait is designed with Shimano's unique Propulsion Weight Transfer System for exceptional long distance casting - allowing the internal weight to slide back during the cast, and then springing forward when the lure hits the water. Ideal to target both calico bass and Yellowtail in SoCal waters and stripers on the East coast. Β This was previously known as the Coltsniper.
Along with covering lots of water from lengthy casts - up to 22-percent longer than similar weight and length lures, anglers can work theΒ Currentsniper jerkbait in a tight wobble action, or slide action by jerking it. With a slow floating design, it can be fished down to 3 - to 5-foot depths. Chemical finish treble hooks are featured at both mid-body and at the tail.

The Sound That Bass Can't Ignore
The River2Sea Whopper Plopper 130 is one of the most iconic topwater lures ever made β and for good reason. That deep, hollow whopping sound produced by the rotating tail is unlike anything else on the water. Crawl it so slowly you can barely hear the tail, or rip it fast so it throws water like a swamp buggy. Either way, it gets bit. Cast it a mile, dial in your retrieve speed, and let the sound do the work.
Engineered to Run Perfect, Right Out of the Box
The Whopper Plopper's propeller-style tail is perfectly tuned from the factory and stays flexible and fish-catching forever. No tweaking, no tuning, no adjustments β just tie it on and go. The tail rotates smoothly across a wide range of retrieve speeds, producing alluring rumbles and multi-octave splashing that triggers strikes from bass, pike, musky, and stripers.
Why Standard Prop Baits Fall Short
Most prop baits are noisy at one speed and dead at another. The Whopper Plopper produces fish-catching sound and action from a dead-slow crawl all the way to a fast burn β giving you a versatile topwater that adapts to the mood of the fish. When bass are finicky, slow it down. When they're aggressive, speed it up. The Plopper works either way.
Built to Last, Built to Cast
Pre-rigged with two size #1 premium black nickel treble hooks, the Whopper Plopper 130 is ready to fish the moment it comes out of the package. The durable body handles rocks, wood, and hard-fighting fish without losing its action, and its aerodynamic profile launches exceptionally long casts for a topwater of its size β covering more water and reaching fish that other lures can't.
The Right Pick If...
- You want a topwater that works at any retrieve speed
- You're targeting largemouth, smallmouth, pike, musky, or striped bass
- You need a lure that casts far and covers open water efficiently
- Walking baits and poppers aren't triggering strikes
- You want a proven, tournament-tested topwater with a massive color selection
Best Retrieve Techniques
- Slow Crawl: Barely-there retrieve β just enough to keep the tail ticking. Deadly in calm conditions and post-spawn
- Medium Steady: The bread-and-butter retrieve β consistent tail rotation with a rhythmic whopping sound
- Fast Burn: Rip it across the surface throwing water β triggers reaction strikes from aggressive fish
- Stop and Go: Vary your retrieve speed to create an erratic, fleeing-baitfish action
Best Conditions
- Calm to lightly choppy surface β the tail sound carries best in calmer water
- Low-light periods β early morning and late evening when bass are most active on top
- Post-spawn through fall when bass are chasing baitfish on the surface
- Summer feeding windows over open flats, points, and submerged structure
- Any body of water where big fish are looking up β lakes, reservoirs, rivers, ponds
Best For
- Species: Largemouth Bass, Smallmouth Bass, Pike, Musky, Striped Bass
- Techniques: Slow roll, medium steady retrieve, fast burn, stop-and-go
- Conditions: Calm to choppy surface, low-light, post-spawn, summer and fall feeding windows

Tackle Express Tips
- Start Slow, Speed Up: Begin your retrieve at a slow crawl and gradually increase speed until you find the cadence the fish want that day. The Plopper produces at every speed β let the fish tell you what they want.
- Match the Color to Forage: In shad-heavy lakes, go with Phantom Shad, Chubby, or Crystal Minnow. In perch or bluegill fisheries, try Perch or Munky Butt. In stained water, Blue Blood and Rat Ta Tat create the best silhouette.
- Use a Loop Knot: A loop knot (like a Rapala knot) gives the Whopper Plopper maximum freedom of movement and enhances the tail action, especially at slower retrieve speeds.
FAQ
What rod and line setup works best with the Whopper Plopper 130?
A medium-heavy 7'β7'6" casting rod with 30β50 lb braided line is ideal. Braid floats and keeps the lure riding high on the surface, while the sensitivity lets you feel the tail action and detect any change in retrieve speed.
How do I know if the tail is tuned correctly?
The tail should rotate freely and consistently at slow retrieve speeds. If it's not spinning, check for debris caught in the tail joint. The Whopper Plopper comes factory-tuned and rarely needs adjustment.
Can I use the Whopper Plopper 130 for pike and musky?
Absolutely. The 5 in, 1 3/8 oz profile is a great pike and musky topwater, especially in summer when fish are shallow and aggressive. Upgrade to heavier treble hooks if you're specifically targeting large musky.
The Megabass Great Hunting Humpback is an ideal to explore new streams where trout of all sizes roam. Its fast-sink tuning and tail weighting power smooth casts, flickering falls and stable swimming through everything the toughest mountain streams can bring. The Great Hunting Humpback'sΒ heavy tail-weighting also generates a wriggling, falling action to coax bites out of pools and allow for range adjustment along deep cut banks. andΒ its bigger 51mm and 64mm lengths, have a tall body that generates outsized flash at every retrieve speed.
Designed primarily for stable retrieves with and against current, anglers can also spice up their offering with twitches and jerks to power escape action that attract reaction bites from veteran trophies. In swifter streams and deeper pools, these lures show their true power by reaching depth quicker than conventional minnows and permitting a high degree of range control. If your targets are chasingΒ the GH64 orΒ GH51 without biting, try downsizing to the smaller GH46 size and/or speeding up your retrieve and twitch action.

The amazing detail and incredible action of the Jackall RerangeΒ Jerkbait is unmatched by any other jerkbait. Β This 110 sizeΒ jerkbait will dive about 4 feet while making a high pitched rolling action. The Lobina Rico and Rio Rico Poppers give you two ways to put a baitfish-style surface presentation in front of bass. Their cupped mouths let you work short pops and splashes, then stop the lure near a promising target. A feather-dressed rear hook adds a finishing detail when you slow down and let the bait sit.
Picture an early-morning cast beside a dock: a short twitch breaks the surface, a pause lets the ripples spread, and the lure stays in the strike zone instead of racing past it. Choose the compact Rico for a smaller profile or the larger Rio Rico when you want more body size and casting weight.
Keep the Presentation Where Bass Can Find It
A fast-moving surface lure can leave a small feeding window too quickly. A popper lets you control both the disturbance and the time spent beside a dock corner, open pocket, or shoreline target. It is a useful choice when bass are looking up but need a slower presentation. The tradeoff: exposed treble hooks are better suited to open water and cover edges than thick grass or tangled wood.
Rico or Rio Rico?
Pick the Rico when you want a compact baitfish profile, especially around smaller forage or on calm water. Choose the Rio Rico for a larger profile and heavier lure. Match your rod's lure rating to the model rather than choosing by color alone. The variant selector combines model and color: options beginning with βRIO Ricoβ are the larger size.
Best For Surface-Feeding Bass
Use these poppers for largemouth and smallmouth bass with a pop-and-pause retrieve around points, docks, shoreline shade, and open lanes beside vegetation. Start during low-light periods, overcast weather, or calm to lightly rippled conditions when surface activity is visible. If wind and chop make it difficult to control the lure, change your position or switch presentations.
The Details Behind Each Pop
- Cupped mouth: creates surface disturbance with short rod-tip movements.
- Feather-dressed rear hook: adds a baitfish-style finishing touch.
- Gamakatsu hooks: supplied in model-specific sizes.
- Two distinct sizes: choose a compact or larger presentation without changing lure style.
- Multiple finishes: select a subdued, reflective, or solid-color look to suit your water and light.
Compare the Two Models
| Model | Length | Lure Weight | Style | Hooks |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Rico | 2 3/8 in. | 1/4 oz. | Topwater popper | #6 Gamakatsu |
| Rio Rico | 2 7/8 in. | 7/16 oz. | Topwater popper | #4 Gamakatsu |
Make Each Twitch Count
Cast past the target when possible and allow the landing rings to settle. Use a short twitch with a little slack in the line, then pause. Try one or two pops followed by a longer rest before speeding up. Let the fish take the lure and the line tighten before sweeping the rod, rather than reacting to the splash alone.
Choose a rod rated for the selected lure weight with enough tip give to work treble-hook baits. For a straightforward popper setup, consider Sunline Supernatural Clear Monofilament, matching line strength to your rod and surrounding cover.
Tackle Express Tips
- Change the pause first: if bass follow without committing, let the lure sit longer before changing colors.
- Start with contrast: try translucent finishes in clear, bright conditions or a solid silhouette in lower light, then let fish response guide your next choice.
- Keep a second surface option ready: when bass want a moving, side-to-side presentation instead of a stationary popper, try the Heddon Super Spook Jr. walking bait.
Questions Before Your First Cast
What is the difference between Rico and Rio Rico?
The Rico is 2 3/8 inches and 1/4 ounce; the Rio Rico is 2 7/8 inches and 7/16 ounce. Choose based on the profile you want and your rod's lure rating.
Should I retrieve it continuously?
Start with short pops separated by pauses. Increase the pace if fish respond to movement, or lengthen the pause when they follow but hesitate.
Can I fish it through heavy vegetation?
The exposed treble hooks can catch grass and wood. Work open pockets and vegetation edges rather than pulling it through dense cover.
Choose your Rico or Rio Rico model and color above, and get your next surface-fishing setup ready with Tackle Express.
We all know longer casts mean more water covered and theΒ Rapala X-Rap Long CastΒ allows you to do just that. Β Rapala has increased the weight of the 14Β size to 1 7/8oz from the original X-Rap which weighs 1 1/2oz. Β That's 3/8oz more weight for approximately 25% additional casting distance. Β If you make 100 casts at 30 feet per cast you'd cover 3000 feet. Β By using the Rapala X-Rap Long Cast, that means you will cover 750 more feet in the same period of time! Β That a lot of acreageΒ covered just by using this lure. Β
We are excited about fishing this long cast version for yellowtail, calico bass, and tuna. Β Often times the fish are boat shy and getting just a few yards more on a cast can make that difference between a good day and a great day. Β They all feature 3X strong VMC single tin hooks for maximum penetration and strength.

There is perhaps no otherΒ jerkbait that is more coveted than the Megabass Vision OneTen. Β The tungsten weights increase casting distance and allow for a more slender bait, reducing drag in the water when retrieved. Β
The Katsuage hooks that come stock on the Vision 110 are light wire for easyΒ penetration correct balance. Β Megabass intends this bait to be fished on light line, preferably 6Β to 10lbΒ pound test. Β Using light line allows the bait to reach its optimal swimming depth of four to six feet, but also enables the bait to move more freely in the water. Β
Retrieved properly, the Vision 110 not only darts from side to side but it does so in an arching fashion shooting up, and then back down as you jerk your rod tip. Β Additionally, as the bait is being pulled in the water it moves sidewaysΒ from top to bottom giving off a color and flash, but it also has a rearΒ movement from side to side. Β Heavier line and hooks have the potential to impede action taking the bait out of its factory tuned equilibrium.

Lucky Craft Pointer SP 65 Jerkbait
Small profile. Big action. The Lucky Craft Pointer SP 65 is the compact workhorse of the legendary Pointer lineup β a 2.5" suspending jerkbait engineered with a specially designed brass weight system that creates an exceptionally low center of gravity. SPRO RkCrawler 55 Crankbait is made for anglers who want a wide-wobbling crankbait to work through rocky cover. Designed by Mike McClelland, it has a hunting action and is intended to bounce off cover, giving you a way to change direction and trigger a reaction as the lure deflects. Cast beyond the rocks, keep contact, and let the bait do its work.
Let the Rocks Change the Retrieve
A straight retrieve does not always get attention. The RkCrawler's wide wobble and cover-deflecting action give bass a moving target that changes course around structure. It is a better fit when you want that lively action near rocks than a tighter-wobbling crankbait such as the SPRO Little John 50 or the Little John MD 50. Choose the other bait by the depth you need to reach; a running-depth specification for this RkCrawler listing is not provided.
Best For
- Freshwater bass fishing around rocky cover.
- Cranking into suitable structure to create deflections.
- Anglers who want a wider wobble and hunting action.
Key Features
- Mike McClelland-designed crankbait.
- Wide-wobbling, hunting action.
- Designed to bounce off rocky cover.
- 26 listed color options.

How to Fish It
Cast beyond a rocky stretch and retrieve so the bait reaches and deflects off suitable cover. Try a brief pause after contact, then resume cranking. Adjust retrieve speed to suit the spot and check your line for wear after repeated rock contact. For a line option designed with abrasion resistance in mind, see SPRO Gouken Fluorocarbon.
Tackle Express Tips
- Make casts from different angles to change how the bait meets the rocks.
- Watch for a strike just after a deflection or pause.
- Inspect your line and hooks regularly around abrasive cover.

The Only Topwater Hardbait That Looks Like a Soft Stick
The Ima Skimmer 110 is unlike any other hard plastic topwater stickbait on the market. While every other walking hardbait has a fat, rounded body, the Skimmer is built with the slender, pencil-thin profile of a 5" soft plastic stickbait β the most proven bass-catching shape in freshwater fishing. That slim silhouette is something bass have been conditioned to eat for decades, and the Skimmer is the only topwater hardbait that delivers it.
The Boil That Seals the Deal
The Skimmer's tail-weighted design creates a one-of-a-kind surface action. On every zig and zag, the weighted tail end stirs the water into a large, violent boil β and then the Skimmer slips out just ahead of it, like a desperate baitfish narrowly escaping a bass's lunge. That boil-and-escape sequence is irresistible. It triggers the predatory instinct in bass that have seen every other topwater presentation and shut down.
Why Fat-Bodied Walking Baits Miss the Mark
Traditional walking baits like the Zara Spook have a wide, rounded body that produces a smooth glide. The Skimmer's slender profile creates a completely different visual trigger β one that more closely mimics the slim, darting profile of a shad, herring, or alewife. On pressured fisheries where bass have seen every fat-bodied walking bait in the box, the Skimmer's unique silhouette and boil action stands out.
Slim Profile, Maximum Action
At 4.25 in (110mm) and 7/16 oz, the Skimmer is perfectly sized for medium-action spinning or baitcasting gear. It walks easily with minimal rod work, casts exceptionally well for its size, and the tail-weighted balance keeps it riding low in the water β maximizing contact with the surface and amplifying that signature boil on every direction change.
The Right Pick If...
- Fat-bodied walking baits are getting ignored on pressured water
- You want a topwater with a slim, soft-plastic-style profile
- You're targeting largemouth or smallmouth bass feeding on shad, herring, or alewives
- You want a walking bait that creates a dramatic surface boil on every twitch
- You fish clear water where a natural, slender profile makes a difference
Best Retrieve Techniques
- Walk the Dog: Rhythmic rod-tip twitches with a steady retrieve β the Skimmer walks easily and the tail boils on every direction change
- Pause and Walk: Walk 3β5 times, pause, then walk again β the pause lets the boil settle and often triggers strikes from following fish
- Slow Walk: Slower cadence for finicky fish or post-front conditions β the slim profile stays in the strike zone longer
- Twitch and Pause: Single twitches with long pauses β deadly when bass are lethargic or in post-spawn recovery
Best Conditions
- Calm to lightly choppy surface β the boil action is most visible in calmer water
- Low-light periods β early morning and late evening when bass are most active on top
- Post-spawn through fall when bass are chasing shad and herring on the surface
- Clear water fisheries where a natural, slender profile triggers more strikes

Tackle Express Tips
- Go Light on Gear: The Skimmer shines on a 7' medium spinning rod with 10β15 lb braid and a 10 lb fluorocarbon leader. The lighter setup lets the bait walk more freely and enhances the tail boil action.
- Match Color to Forage: In shad-heavy lakes, go with American Shad, Real Ghost Shad, or Ghost Minnow. In herring fisheries, Blueback Herring and Ghost Chartreuse Herring are deadly. In clear water, Chrome and Chattahoochee Chrome create maximum flash.
- Use a Loop Knot: A Rapala loop knot gives the Skimmer maximum freedom of movement and enhances the walking action and tail boil, especially at slower retrieve speeds.
FAQ
How is the Ima Skimmer 110 different from other walking baits?
The Skimmer has a slender, pencil-thin body profile that mimics a soft plastic stickbait β something no other topwater hardbait offers. Combined with its tail-weighted boil action, it presents a completely different visual trigger than fat-bodied walking baits like the Zara Spook.
What rod and line setup works best?
A 7'β7'2" medium spinning rod with 10β15 lb braid and a 10β12 lb fluorocarbon leader is ideal. The Skimmer can also be fished on a medium baitcaster, but spinning gear gives it the most natural walking action.
Is the Ima Skimmer 110 good for smallmouth bass?
Absolutely. The slim profile and natural shad/herring color options make it a top smallmouth bait, especially in clear water lakes and rivers where smallmouth are keyed in on slender baitfish.
Lucky Craft Pointer 100 SP Jerkbait
When bass are holding deep in the water column and refusing to come up, the Lucky Craft Pointer 100 SP gets down to their level and stays there. The largest of the core Pointer SP lineup, the Pointer 100 brings the same legendary brass weight system and bass-calling action to a bigger profile β perfect for matching larger baitfish or pulling fish up from deeper structure.
Engineered with a specially designed brass weight system that creates an ultra-low center of gravity, the Pointer 100 wobbles and vibrates in place the moment you stop the retrieve β emitting a subtle, irresistible vibration that triggers strikes from even the most reluctant bass. A short twitch of the rod tip sends it darting side to side in a fluid underwater walk-the-dog action that mimics a fleeing baitfish with uncanny realism. Suspend it at 4β5 feet and let the bass come to you.
Features
- Brass weight system creates ultra-low center of gravity for wobble-and-vibrate on pause
- Suspending design locks the bait in the strike zone at 4β5 feet
- Short rod twitch generates underwater walk-the-dog action
- Larger profile than the Pointer 78 β ideal for matching bigger baitfish
- Bass-calling vibration on pause draws strikes from pressured and finicky fish

The Deps Buzzjet WakebaitΒ is one of the most versatile and effective lures on the market today! The Deps Buzzjet can do it all. Walk it, rip it, crank it or wake it, the fish don't care cause all they want to do is SMASH IT! The unique lip design enables this bait to push copious amounts of water, giving the Buzzjet a one of a kind wake. The prop leaves a tantalizing trail of bubbles which, when combined with the Deps Buzzjet's unique lip, will call fish up from serious distances!
The Deps Buzzjet has an angry action that calls fish. The topwater bait has been revolutionized with the design of the Buzzjet. The erratic action and sound can attract fish from deeper depths and it can still be fished effectively in rough water thanks to the huge drawing power of the bait. This is not just a noisy lure, it was designed for those who want to catch a giant bass on topwater.
Here at Tackle Express, we have caught hundreds of bass over the years on this bait.Β From small ponds to larger bodies of water, it just works.Β It's one of those lures that has a certain something about it that causes fish to strike.Β For another great bait, see the Deps Spiral Minnow, it's equally as good but has a different action.Β Sometimes one works better than the other so our suggestion is to get one of each.

High Temperature Caution
Take caution to where you store your baits as they can become deformed or cracked due to the expansion of the air during high temperatures. Keep them out of direct sunlight and in hot places like the inside of vehicles or tackle boxes stored during the warmer months as we are not responsible for damages caused due to storing lures in high temperatures.

Walks, Pops, Spits β All in One Bait
The Ima Big Stick is the result of years of development by Ima's Japanese engineering team and professional angler Randy Pringle β and it shows. At 7 inches and 1.75 oz, the Big Stick is a magnum topwater that can spit like a popper, walk like the hardest-sashaying walking bait on the market, and do it all without requiring expert technique or specialized gear. It's designed for conventional tackle, starts working the moment you begin your retrieve, and is built to handle anything from trophy bass to stripers, pike, and musky.
Eight Sound Chambers. One Unforgettable Presentation.
The Big Stick features eight individual sound chambers that create a massive ruckus at fast retrieve speeds β and can be dialed back to a subtle pop along the surface when fish are finicky. The rear-weighted design kicks the action into gear immediately on the retrieve and dramatically increases casting distance and accuracy. A unique head design pushes significant volumes of water on every direction change, creating a surface disturbance that draws fish from a distance.
Built for Trophy Fish, Not Just Bass
Most big topwaters are built for one species. The Big Stick is built for all of them. Wire-through construction, heavier split rings, and Owner ST-66 #1/0 treble hooks mean this bait can handle the shock of a 50 lb striper, a 40-inch musky, or a 10 lb largemouth without failing. The durable finish and premium hardware make it a legitimate multi-species weapon for both freshwater and saltwater applications.
Standard vs. Silent β Two Presentations, One Profile
The Big Stick comes in both a standard (rattling) version and a silent version. The standard model's eight sound chambers create aggressive noise and vibration β ideal for stained water, choppy conditions, and aggressive fish. The silent version relies entirely on its surface action and profile β perfect for clear water, pressured fish, and situations where noise spooks rather than attracts.
The Right Pick If...
- You want a big topwater that walks AND pops without switching baits
- You're targeting trophy largemouth, stripers, pike, or musky on the surface
- You need a topwater that casts far and starts working immediately on the retrieve
- You fish both freshwater and saltwater and want one bait that handles both
- You want a premium Japanese-engineered topwater with tournament-proven action
Best Retrieve Techniques
- Walk the Dog: Rhythmic rod-tip twitches produce a wide, aggressive side-to-side walk β the rear-weighted design makes this effortless
- Popping: Short, sharp twitches to spit water and pause β the unique head design creates a loud, aggressive pop
- Fast Burn: High-speed retrieve to activate all eight sound chambers and create maximum surface commotion
- Subtle Pop: Slow, gentle twitches for a quiet, subtle presentation β or use the silent version for pressured fish
Best Conditions
- Open water, main lake points, and offshore structure where big fish are feeding on top
- Early morning and late evening low-light periods
- Post-spawn through fall when trophy fish are chasing large baitfish
- Saltwater flats, jetties, and inshore structure for stripers and other coastal species
- Any situation where a large, aggressive topwater presentation is needed

Tackle Express Tips
- Go Heavy on Tackle: The Big Stick is 1.75 oz β use a heavy or extra-heavy 7'6"β8' casting rod with a high-speed reel (7:1+) and 50β65 lb braid. The heavy setup handles the weight, maximizes casting distance, and gives you the power to drive Owner ST-66 hooks home on big fish.
- Standard vs. Silent by Water Clarity: Use the standard rattling version in stained water, choppy conditions, or when fish are aggressive. Switch to the silent version in clear water, calm conditions, or when fish are spooking off noise.
- Match Color to Forage: Sardine, Mackerel, and Ghost Blue Back are go-to saltwater and striper colors. Bone and Red Head are classic low-light and clear-water patterns. Trout and Hatchery Trout shine in trout-forage fisheries and tailwaters.
FAQ
What's the difference between the standard and silent Big Stick?
The standard version has eight internal sound chambers that create noise and vibration at all retrieve speeds. The silent version has no rattle and relies entirely on its surface action and profile β ideal for clear water or pressured fish that spook off noisy baits.
What rod and line setup works best?
A heavy or extra-heavy 7'6"β8' casting rod with a high-speed reel and 50β65 lb braided line is ideal. The 1.75 oz weight needs backbone to cast and the braid gives you the sensitivity to feel the action and the power to set hooks on big fish.
Can the Ima Big Stick be used in saltwater?
Absolutely. The wire-through construction, heavier split rings, and Owner ST-66 hooks are built to handle saltwater species including striped bass, bluefish, and other inshore predators. Rinse thoroughly with fresh water after each saltwater use.

The Ima Flit 120 is the effort of endless research and development. Ima combined Michael Murphyβs biologyΒ expertise with its own advanced technology and the Flit 120 was born.Β The Flit 120, named for its erratic fleeing action and 120mm in length, was designed on the basic premise of βmatching the hatch.βΒ Β The ima Jerkbait, designed with a wide back, flat sides, and a narrow stomach, is designed to closely mimic the flat-sided Herring and/or Panfish prey, common in the U.S.Β Β The Flit 120 incorporates a realistic finish, a uniquely designed bill for ease of use and specially designed triangular chambers. This creates constant focal points of contact, maximizing vibration and sound consistency. The ima Flit 120 is the next generation jerkbait designed specifically to trigger strikes and enhance your fishing experience.
Techniques:
- Jerk Pause:Β Start with slack and end with slack after each series of jerks allowing the bait to glide back and forth.
- Deadsticking:Β Start out with a couple cranks and jerks to get the bait to desired depth and then pause the lure with slack line.
- Burning: Reel the jerkbait in fast spurts stopping periodically. A very effective technique around shad spawns and schooling fish.
