One Composite Blank Family, 20 lb to 200 lb
Phenix Axis Conventional Rods are built from a composite blend of S-Glass and T-16 carbon fiber with multi-helix construction — a layup Phenix developed for the strength-to-weight demands of Southern California saltwater. The series runs fourteen models from 7'2" to 8', covering everything from a 20-40 lb flylined bait stick to an 80-200 lb rail rod, so you can build an entire spread out of one blank family.
Why Anglers Reach for the Axis
Glass gives you forgiveness and lifting power. Carbon gives you the light weight and responsiveness to fish all day and feel the bite. Most rods pick one. Every blank in the Axis series blends both, which is why the line diameter stays thin for the line class — you get castability that pure glass can't match and a backbone that pure graphite gives up.
The Problem With Single-Material Blanks
An all-graphite conventional rod feels great until a fish sounds under the boat and you need sustained lifting power — then it either folds or snaps. An all-glass rod will lift anything but casts like a broomstick and wears you out by mid-morning. Multi-helix composite construction wraps both materials so the blank resists twisting under angled pressure, which is the exact load a conventional rod sees when a fish runs down the side of the boat.
What Sets It Apart
- S-Glass and T-16 carbon fiber composite in every model
- Multi-helix construction engineered for saltwater loads
- Thin blank diameter for the line class across the whole range
- Fourteen models, 7'2" to 8', spanning 20-40 lb through 80-200 lb
- Extended-foregrip rail configurations available in the heavier classes
- Includes the 7'6" 50-100 lb Guadalupe Special
The Right Pick If…
- You fish SoCal sport boats, overnight trips, or long range
- You want one blank family covering inshore through offshore instead of a mismatched rack
- You want composite forgiveness without a telephone-pole blank
- You'd rather buy a rod rated honestly to your line class than overbuy
Choosing Your Model
- Medium Heavy, 20-40 lb (HAX-720MH, HAX-780MH): Flylined sardine and mackerel, inshore yellowtail, calico bass, white seabass. This is the bait stick, not a rail rod.
- Heavy, 25-60 lb (HAX-720H, HAX-780H): Larger baits, yo-yo iron, bigger yellowtail and school-grade tuna.
- Extra Heavy, 30-80 lb (HAX-720XH, HAX-780XH): Heavy iron and mid-grade tuna. The top of the range you can comfortably fish off the rod rather than off the rail.
- 2X Heavy, 40-100 lb (HAX-720X2H, HAX-760X2H Guadalupe Special, HAX-780X2H): Where the rail tier starts. Extended foregrip, built for bluefin off the rail.
- 3X Heavy, 60-130 lb (HAX-720X3H, HAX-760X3H, HAX-800X3H): Long-range bluefin. The 8'0" gives you the most blank outside the rail.
- 4X Heavy, 80-200 lb (HAX-C720X4H, HAX-760X4H): Top of the series. Cow-grade bluefin and the heaviest long-range work.
Why the Heavy Models Are So Long
On a rail rod, a large share of the length is foregrip. Once that foregrip is laid on the rail, you may have only four or five feet of blank actually fighting the fish. The more rod you have outside the rail on the water side, the more the fish has to work against — and the fulcrum becomes the boat instead of your arms and back. That's why the 2X Heavy and above run long, and why length on those models isn't about casting distance.
Best Techniques
- Flylined bait: Medium Heavy and Heavy models — enough tip to cast a live sardine, enough backbone to turn a yellowtail out of the kelp
- Yo-yo iron: Heavy and Extra Heavy — handles the load of ripping heavy iron up off the bottom all day
- Rail fishing: 2X Heavy and up — brace the extended foregrip on the rail and let the boat do the lifting
- Heavy live bait and kite: 3X and 4X Heavy — the 130 lb and 200 lb classes
Best Conditions
- Inshore kelp and structure where you have to turn a fish fast — lighter classes
- Offshore and overnight sport boat trips — mid classes
- Long range and Guadalupe Island grounds — 2X Heavy and up
- Any situation where fighting a fish off the rail beats fighting it off your arms

Tackle Express Tips
- Buy for the trip you actually book: If you're fishing half-days and overnights inshore, the Medium Heavy and Heavy do the job. The rail classes only earn their money on long range and heavy bluefin.
- Length on the heavy models is about the rail, not casting: The 7'6" and 8'0" heavy blanks aren't for bombing baits — they're for keeping blank on the water side of the rail during a fight.
- Match your line to the rating on the blank: A 40-100 lb rod fished with 130 lb line isn't a 130 lb rod. Fish it honestly and the composite does what it was designed to do.
FAQ
Which Axis models are rail rods?
The 2X Heavy class and above — 40-100 lb, 60-130 lb, and 80-200 lb. Those get the extended foregrip designed to brace against the boat's rail. The Medium Heavy, Heavy, and Extra Heavy models are conventional rods fished off the rod, not off the rail.
What does the S-Glass and T-16 carbon blend actually do?
S-Glass adds forgiveness and lifting power under sustained load. T-16 carbon fiber keeps the blank light and responsive. Multi-helix construction wraps the material so the blank resists twisting under angled pressure. Every model in the series uses the same blend.
How do these ship?
Every rod is wrapped in bubble wrap at the crucial points and suspended inside a thick rod tube so it can't be crushed or knocked around in transit. Note that rods over 8' do not qualify for free shipping.

Need to get line off in a hurry, the Rapala Line Remover does the trick. It removes fishing line with ease and quickly. No more pulling it off the reel by hand or with a buddy.
Simply insert the line through the slot and hit the button and watch it strip 5 feet of line per second. That's a faster strip than a girl in a Las Vegas night club and cheaper too. It does require 4 AA batteries so make sure to pick some up.

The Billfisher Krok Stainless Steel Snap Swivel is strong and small. The design of the snap allows for a higher test in a smaller swivel. The dramatic bend at the end of the snap makes it pull in line with the swivel more so it's less likely to bend out. The steel used in the swivel is of the highest quality making it extremely strong. You can trust these swivels, we do every time we tie one on.

The Ahi Assault Sabiki Sticks take the headache out of fishing and storing your sabiki rigs. Designed with only one line feeder guide and an open ended rodtip, Sabiki Bait Rigs can be threaded into the rod blank eliminating tangled rigs and dangerously exposed hooks.
When not in use, reel the entire Sabiki Rig into the blank for tangle-less storage. Easy to transport 3 piece design. 8 Foot model holds 6 hook Sabiki Rigs.
The Shimano Tranx 500 Baitcast Reel is built for anglers who refuse to compromise. Whether you're dropping irons on yellowtail, slow-rolling swimbaits on white seabass, or grinding deep structure for trophy bass, the Tranx 500 delivers the torque, drag, and durability to handle it all — in both saltwater and freshwater.
Built for the Tranx 500 Angler
The Tranx 500 fills the gap between a standard baitcaster and a conventional reel. It's compact enough to cast all day, yet powerful enough to stop a 60 lb yellowtail in its tracks. With 25 lbs of Cross Carbon Drag and a super-strong levelwind, this reel is engineered for the moments that matter most.
Why the Tranx 500 Stands Apart
Most baitcasters sacrifice either power or smoothness. The Tranx 500 refuses to choose. HAGANE Body construction keeps the frame rigid under load, while MicroModule Gear technology delivers a silky-smooth retrieve even after years of hard use. X-Ship reduces gear friction for more torque and longer casts — a combination you simply won't find at this price point.
HG or PG — Pick Your Weapon
The HG (High Gear, 6.6:1) retrieves 43 inches per crank — ideal for working irons, Waxwings, Rapala X-Raps, and any technique where faster line recovery keeps your lure in the zone. The PG (Power Gear, 4.6:1) retrieves 30 inches per crank, delivering maximum torque for deep cranking, heavy swimbaits, and turning big fish away from structure. Both models share the same 25 lb max drag and 6+1 bearing system.
The Right Pick If...
- You target yellowtail, white seabass, tuna, or large calico bass
- You need a baitcaster that can handle 65–100 lb braid
- You want one reel that works from the kelp to the deep reef
- You're upgrading from a standard baitcaster and need more stopping power
- You fish heavy swimbaits, irons, or large topwater lures
Best Fishing Techniques
- Iron fishing — HG model excels at fast retrieves with jigs and irons
- Swimbait fishing — PG model delivers the torque to work large paddle tails and glide baits
- Deep cranking — PG's power gear ratio grinds through resistance at depth
- Topwater — HG keeps pace with walk-the-dog and prop baits
- Live bait — smooth drag and levelwind handle live mackerel and sardine presentations
Best Conditions
- Offshore and nearshore saltwater — kelp beds, reefs, and open water
- Freshwater reservoirs and lakes targeting trophy bass and stripers
- Boat fishing where casting distance and line capacity matter
- High-pressure situations where drag consistency is non-negotiable

Tackle Express Tips
- Spool with PowerPro Maxcuatro: The Tranx 500's large spool capacity shines with 65–80 lb Maxcuatro — you get incredible sensitivity, zero stretch, and enough capacity for deep water drops.
- Match the gear ratio to your technique: Don't default to HG just because it's faster. If you're fishing heavy swimbaits or grinding deep structure, the PG's torque advantage will save your wrist and turn more fish.
- Rinse after every saltwater session: Despite its saltwater rating, a quick freshwater rinse of the levelwind and handle knobs after each trip will dramatically extend the life of this reel.
FAQ
What's the difference between the HG and PG models?
The HG (High Gear, 6.6:1) retrieves 43 inches per crank — best for fast-moving lures like irons and topwater. The PG (Power Gear, 4.6:1) retrieves 30 inches per crank with more torque — best for heavy swimbaits, deep cranking, and turning big fish.
Can the Tranx 500 handle saltwater fishing?
Yes. The Tranx 500 is built for both saltwater and freshwater use. Its HAGANE Body and Cross Carbon Drag system are designed to withstand the corrosive demands of saltwater environments. Rinse after each use for best longevity.
What line do you recommend for the Tranx 500?
We recommend PowerPro Maxcuatro in 65–80 lb for most saltwater applications. For freshwater or lighter inshore work, 30–50 lb braid is a great choice. The large spool handles high-capacity loads with ease.
The Izorline Rod Carrier Sling is quite possibly the most genius invention of all time! It functions as a basic hook and loop rod strap that secures the butts of your rods together and the tips of your rods together. Izorline then had the simple but genius idea of connecting those two straps with one line strap in the middle!
This allows you to sling your rods over your shoulder like a guitar. Keep those hands free so you can carry your fishing tackle.
Izorline Fishing Rod Straps help you hold your rods together with a simple and light weight way to be organized. It comes with one smaller strap for your fishing rod tips and a larger one for the butt section of the rods.
We find it holds 4 saltwater rods and 6 freshwater rods per kit and secured with hook-and-loop straps. The bright blue color makes them easy to find and the durable construction will allow use for many years to come. Add them to the other items in your order or get them as a gift.

The Halco Max 130 is a great trolling and casting lure for salt and freshwater species. The Max 130 can be trolled at high speeds of up to 12 knots and has very little trolling resistance due to it's slender profile. The slim tail design gives it excellent hook exposure for great hook sets.
Crafted in Australia, Halco engineered the Max 130 to hook fish and stand up to the mightiest catches. Its construction, including hooks, split rings, and hardware, are robust—capable of bringing in tuna up to hundreds of pounds. Furthermore, with a variety of attractive colors, you can easily find the ideal lure for your fishing conditions.
Although mainly a trolling lure, the Max 130 can be used in a cast and retrieve method as well. Use a high speed reel and burn it back for the correct action on the lure. It measures 5 1/2" and 2.82 ounces. Give it a try on tuna, yellowtail, barracuda, wahoo, stripers, and many other aggressive species.
The hooks and hardware on all Halco products is as tough as it gets. You can fish them with confidence, even on tuna over 300lbs. The split rings and treble hooks are 4X strong and with the wire through construction, the fish will give up far before the lure will.
The finish is second to none with bright colors and extreme details. No small detail has been overlooked and is certain to catch fish from The Gulf to Southern California. Tie on a Halco Max 130 and hang on tight.

The P-Line Neoprene Rod Strap is perfect for bundling all your rods together for easy storage and less chance of breakage. When going on a fishing trip, we like to group all the rods together and wrap them up at the top and bottom. The lines are less likely to tangle and the soft neoprene material secures them well without scratching. The bright blue color is easy to find in your box so you won't loose them.
The small size is great for freshwater rods or the tip sections of saltwater rods. The large size is great for large bundles of rods or the butt section of saltwater rods. They come 2 per pack.
The Lead Masters Cedar Plug Daisy Chain takes everything that makes a single cedar plug deadly on the troll and multiplies it by four. Four cedar plugs running in a line create the unmistakable visual profile of a baitfish school in flight — each plug doing its own thing, wobbling and darting independently, exactly the way a real school of panicked bait behaves when a predator is pushing through it. When Tuna see this rig coming through the water, they don’t see a lure. They see dinner.
The chain is pre-rigged and ready to deploy: swivel, 80 lb line, 3× Size #4 cedar plugs in front, 1× Size #6 cedar plug at the rear, single hook on the trailing #6, and crimped connections throughout. The larger #6 plug trails at the rear of the chain — this is where the strike happens. Tuna attacking a fleeing bait school always target the last fish, and the trailing #6 with the hook is positioned exactly there. The three #4 plugs in front do the work of creating the school illusion and drawing the fish in; the #6 closes the deal.

Key Features
- 4-Plug Cedar Bait School — Amplified Cedar Action — A single cedar plug is one of the most proven tuna trolling lures ever made; four cedar plugs running in a line multiply that action into a full bait school presentation; each plug swims and wobbles independently, creating the erratic, multi-directional movement of a real bait school under predator pressure; the combined visual profile of four plugs is far more visible and compelling to Tuna than a single plug at the same trolling speed.
- Trailing #6 Hook Placement — Where the Strike Happens — Tuna and other large pelagics attacking a bait school consistently target the trailing fish — the one that appears to be falling behind the school and is most vulnerable; the single hook on the trailing #6 plug is positioned exactly where the strike will occur; the hookless #4 plugs in front create the school illusion and draw the fish in without the risk of foul-hooking on the teaser plugs.
- 80 lb Pre-Rigged with Crimped Connections — The chain is rigged on 80 lb line — appropriate for the large Tuna and Yellowtail that the Cedar Plug Daisy Chain is designed to target; all connections are crimped rather than knotted, providing maximum connection strength and eliminating the knot as the weakest point in the rig; the swivel at the head end prevents line twist during the troll.
- Natural Cedar Finish — Proven Offshore Color — The natural, unfinished cedar wood finish is the most versatile and proven color for offshore trolling; the natural cedar color and wood grain produce a subtle, realistic baitfish appearance that works in blue water, green water, and mixed conditions without the need for a painted finish.
How to Deploy
- Attach the swivel end to your leader or directly to the main line.
- Deploy in the prop wash or on the short corner of a standard trolling spread at 5–8 knots.
- The chain is most effective when running in the white water of the prop wash where the turbulence enhances each plug’s individual action.
- Can also be used as a hookless teaser by removing the hook from the trailing #6 to raise fish to the surface before switching to a rigged bait.
Best For
- Bluefin & Yellowfin Tuna — Primary Application — The Cedar Plug Daisy Chain is purpose-built for Tuna; troll at 5–8 knots in a standard spread; most effective when fish are actively feeding on baitfish schools near the surface; the four-plug bait school presentation triggers the same aggressive, committed strike response that a real bait school would from Tuna that are in feeding mode.
- Yellowtail — Effective for Yellowtail on the troll when fish are keying on mackerel and sardine schools; the cedar plug action and natural finish are proven Yellowtail triggers at standard trolling speeds.
- Running Between Spots — Deploy the Cedar Plug Daisy Chain while running between fishing spots; the rig is designed to fish effectively at trolling transit speeds and has produced strikes on fish encountered while running, turning what would otherwise be dead time into productive fishing time.

Power through any offshore challenge — Shimano Torium A, built for serious saltwater anglers.
Key Performance Features
-
Ultra-Thin Profile: Being 25% thinner means you can essentially "buy a line one size smaller". For example, 30 lb Maxcuatro has a diameter similar to 20 lb standard braid, allowing you to pack more line on a smaller reel.
-
Advanced 4-End Construction: Features a specialized 4-carrier weave that is lighter and softer than traditional braids. This structure reduces bulk and optimizes casting performance.
-
Enhanced Casting Distance: The thinner diameter and smoother surface reduce friction as the line passes through rod guides, resulting in longer, more accurate casts.
-
Increased Sensitivity: Like all PowerPro lines, it has near-zero stretch, providing a direct connection to your lure and allowing you to feel the lightest strikes.
