Our Hyper Drive Design is comprised of four key technologies- Hyper Drive, Digigear, Hyper Double Support, Hyper Armed Housing and Hyper Tough Clutch.

HYPERDRIVE DIGIGEAR- a brand-new gear design makes the teeth of the gears more efficient at transferring power, therefore making the gear set feel smoother, more powerful and also reducing gear noise.

Another bonus for the Coastal 80 is it’s UTD (Ultimate Tournament Drag) system, which includes impregnated drag discs that are about 30 times more durable than typical discs, considerably increasing the effective drag power while also reducing start-up resistance.

The Daiwa Exceler LT - Daiwa uses a carbon fiber body called Zaion V. The new version is 3%-5% lighter than our current model for comparable sizes. It also comes with an Airdrive Rotor & Airdrive Bail like our version on the exist—are tubular but they’re not on the Exceler. 

We went to a solid bail wire for its rigidity and resistance to bending during normal use, the thinner, smaller wire is also lighter, which reduces the weight of the rotation, thus reducing the weight of the reel.

The Daiwa Fuego LT Spinning Reels impress with a lightweight and strong Zaion V carbon-fiber body, a step up from the nylon-based plastics typically seen in reels at this price. This exclusive 2023 design makes the Fuego stand out against the competition. Additionally, this innovative material choice results in a 3%-5% weight reduction.

Fuego also uses an airdrive Rotor that reduces quite a bit of weight. Daiwa also incorporated a solid Airdrive Bail versus a tubular design. The reason for that is the metal we’re using is very strong, rigid, and doesn’t bend—yet, it’s thinner and lighter. Our goal was to reduce the weight of the rotation, which reduces the weight of the reel as well. It also makes it easier to turn the handle.

The Daiwa HMKL Minnow Steez Custom 137SP first design was based on the universal profile of minnows but Daiwa tackle designer Kazuma Izumi has taken it much further choosing just the right material, coating, lip design, figure, and size.

Its design is simple and that’s to appeal to universal forage bases of various different types of minnows and juvenile fish. In terms of body design, the shape of the HMKL’s body is incredibly lean because designer Izumi believes that “leaner lures are more effective in tough fishing situations.” “The ultimate goal,” says Izumi, “was to create a jerkbait that blows the competition away with its lean profile, action, and form, and simply catches more fish.”To that end, Izumi crafted a bait with a unique weight transfer system, with SaqSas swivels on the front and back to reduce fish coming off, and a circuit board carbon fiber bill—the first ever on a jerkbait—that’s very durable and won’t chip. Like the rudder of a boat, the circuit board bill keeps the bait’s action accurate and very precise every time you use it. It’s also extremely sharp and cuts the water very accurately, getting the bait where it needs to be. 

The HMKL also casts like a bullet thanks to its SaqSas weight transfer system that utilize small tungsten weights. The smaller tungsten weights also allow the bait a much more balance under the water and the internal counter buoyance weight stabilizes the bait without any unnecessary noise.

SaqSas swivels that hold the split ring on the front and rear hook allows the hooks to spin freely avoiding the rudder-like action and unnatural balance of the hooks normally and keeps fish hooked no matter the condition. Wherever the treble hooks stick in the fish’s mouth, this SaqSas swivels rotate to prevent tearing and losing the fish.
