The Line SoCal Anglers Trust
Izorline XXX has earned its reputation on the water — not in a marketing brochure. Veteran long-range and local sportboat anglers have relied on it for decades because it delivers where it counts: small diameter for more line on the spool, exceptional knot strength, and a smoke color that disappears in the water column. If you're fishing yellowtail, tuna, or white seabass, this is the line that won't let you down when the fish of a lifetime is on the other end.
What Makes XXX Different
Izorline engineered the XXX formula with space-age copolymer additives that push monofilament performance beyond what standard mono can deliver. The result is a line that's simultaneously limp enough to cast effortlessly, strong enough to handle hard-running pelagics, and tough enough to survive the rocks and structure where big fish live.
- Xtra Limp — soft, easy to tie, minimal coil memory off the spool
- Xtra Strong — Izorline's strongest mono formula, with high knot and tensile strength
- Xtra Tough — excellent abrasion resistance for rocky structure and kelp
- Smoke color — low visibility in the water column, a proven edge on pressured fish
- Small diameter — more line per spool, better bait presentation
When Line Visibility Costs You Fish
Clear water and pressured fish are unforgiving. Heavy, stiff, or high-visibility line kills bait action and spooks wary fish — especially white seabass and finicky yellowtail. The XXX's smoke color and ultra-limp formula let your bait swim naturally and your line stay out of the picture. It's the difference between getting bit and watching the fish swim away.
The Right Choice If…
- You're fishing live bait on local or long-range sportboats
- You want a mono that casts smoothly and ties clean knots without stiffness
- You're targeting clear-water species like white seabass, yellowtail, or tuna
- You need maximum yardage on your reel without stepping up in diameter
- You've been burned by cheap mono that breaks at the knot or loses strength after a few trips
At Home In These Situations
- Live bait fishing for yellowtail, tuna, and white seabass
- Slow-trolling and drift fishing on local and long-range trips
- Jigging and iron fishing as a main or backing line
- Freshwater applications where low-vis and low-memory matter
Best Conditions
- Clear saltwater — inshore, nearshore, and offshore
- Long-range and overnight sportboat trips
- Kelp and structure fishing where abrasion resistance is critical
- Any situation where fish are line-shy or water clarity is high
Best For
- Yellowtail, bluefin tuna, yellowfin tuna, and albacore
- White seabass and calico bass on live bait
- Freshwater bass, trout, and general light-tackle applications
- Anglers who want a premium copolymer without the premium price tag

Tackle Express Tips
- Spool under light tension with water or a damp cloth to reduce memory and ensure even lay on the reel — especially important on larger capacity reels.
- The smoke color is most effective in clear, blue water. If you're fishing green or murky water, the visibility advantage is less critical — but the strength and limpness still make it a top pick.
- For long-range trips, the 1lb spool gives you enough line to fill most conventional reels and have backup. Buy two if you're spooling a large-capacity reel like a Talica 20 or 25.
FAQ
Is Izorline XXX a monofilament or fluorocarbon?
It's a super copolymer — a step above standard monofilament in strength and limpness, but not fluorocarbon. Many anglers use it as their main line with a fluorocarbon leader for the best of both worlds.
What reel sizes does the 1lb spool fill?
Capacity varies by test strength. The 20lb/2,670yd spool will fill most mid-size conventional reels. Refer to your reel's line capacity specs and the yardage table above to match the right test to your setup.
Can I use this line for freshwater fishing?
Yes — the low memory, small diameter, and smoke color make it an excellent choice for freshwater bass, trout, and other species where line visibility and castability matter.

DaHo Hollow Threading Needles are precision-made stainless steel hypodermic tube needles designed for threading mono and fluorocarbon leader through hollow braided line. Each needle is sized by its length for easy identification — stand them on their open end and find the right size at a glance. The smallest (10–20# size) measures 5.3" and each larger needle is 0.1" longer than the last, up to 6.4" for the 300–400# size.
The primary sizing dimension is the ID (Internal Diameter), which indicates the approximate mono/fluoro line size that fits inside. Select a needle at least .002" larger than your line diameter for ease of use. ID sizes may vary up to .002" due to standard stainless steel hypodermic tube manufacturing tolerances.

The DaHo Reverse Latch Threading Needle was developed in collaboration with Jerry Brown, a pioneer in hollow spectra fishing line technology. Unlike traditional latch needles adapted from fabric knitting machines — which must be pushed into hollow spectra and often damage the line's fibers when the latch opens — the DaHo Reverse Latch Needle is designed to be pulled through the line, keeping the latch closed by the line's internal pressure. This is the only tool on the market that uses the latch mechanism as it was originally designed to function.
The reverse latch design also allows the latch to open and release the held line when needed — a critical capability for loop creation and splicing techniques where a line must be released by the tool while threaded through another line. Standard loop splicing needles cannot do this. Attached to DaHo's standard 6" needle body, the Reverse Latch Needle also allows longer loops and splices than the old short latch needles permitted.
Key Features
- Pull-through latch design — latch stays closed under line pressure, protecting hollow spectra fibers
- Releasable latch — opens to release held line mid-splice when needed
- 6" needle body — enables longer loops and splices than traditional latch needles
- Latch is always the trailing end — correct orientation for pull-through use
- 3 sizes available — Small, Medium, and Large covering 60# to 300# spectra
- Sold individually

Izorline Fluoro Carbon Wind-On Top Shots are the fastest, Stronest, and easiest way to connect Spectre/Braid to Fluoro. There is a small learning curve to fishing Wind-On Top Shots, the Izorline Fluoro Carbon Wind-On Top Shots have a spectra loop on the end so you're going to need to serve a loop in your hollow core spectra to make the loop to loop connection and if you do not have hollow core then, you'd have to tie a Bimini twist loop in the end of your solid spectra to make the right connection.
A Wind-On Top Shot is one of the most in-line connections from braid to Fluoro making it virtually silent and smooth going through the guides on the rod. Also a Loop to Loop connection is the strongest connection for spectra to Fluoro.
The Owner Mutu Circle Hooks are extra strong and able to handle big tuna, yellowtail, halibut, and many other species. Like all circle hooks, make sure you don't set the hook with the rod. Once bit, point the rod at the fish and wind until the rod loads up. The hook should be in the corner of the mouth right where you want it.
In the corner of the mouth, it makes it difficult for the teeth to cut the line. It's also the best point in the mouth for the hook to pivot on. This bulk pack saves you money on one of the best hooks Owner makes.
Key Features:
- Extra Strong Construction: Built to handle big tuna, yellowtail, and halibut
- Circle Hook Design: Self-setting for corner-of-mouth hookups
- Bulk Pack Value: Save money on premium Owner hooks

Also a Loop to Loop connection is the strongest connection for spectra to mono. Some anglers like monofilament over fluorocarbon because monofilament has more stretch. That stretch acts like a rubber band and give a shock absorber when a fish trashes or changes direction quickly. Fluorocarbon is harder for the fish to see and is generally better during the daytime hours.

The Mustad Demon Perfect Circle Hooks are a true circle hook featuring a wide gap, offering the best hookup ratios. No wonder it is so popular among tournament fishermen. It features 3X extra heavy wire and making it perfect to target giants. The distinct curved shape of the circle hook will, when the fish takes the baited hook and eats it, ensure that the hook travels to the corner of the mouth or lip, resulting in fewer gut-hooked fish. The circle hook can be used for a whole range of applications from drifting with live bait for Tarpon or trolling for Marlin.
When live baiting, always choose a hook size that matches the bait. Setting the hook is more of a firm tightening of the line, than an actual strike. The hook has a kirbed hook point for improved hookset. It is in other words, the ultimate Catch & Release hook. Use it to fish for a whole range of fresh and saltwater species, such as Wahoo, Marlin, Bluefin, Yellowfin, Skipjack, Snapper, Roosterfish, Tarpon, Amberjack, Mahi Mahi/Dorado, Sailfish, Grouper, ect.
Features:
- 4.3 UltraPoint™ technology
- Opti-Angle Needle Point
- Kirbed hook point
- Wide gap
- 3X extra heavy wire
- Ringed eye
- Chemically sharpened
- Nor-Tempered

Phenix Black Diamond Spinning Rods are excellent for both inshore and offshore fishing. Black Diamond Rods incorporate a new generation of saltwater blanks. Using Toray’s high strength Carbon Fibers, the Black Diamond is created with a unique layering process and a “secret sauce” resin. This combination of aerospace technology allowed Phenix to fabricate a super strong blank that has a thinner diameter and weighs considerably less than any other series of rods in its class.
We offer the entire line of Phenix Black Diamond Rods including both the casting and spinning rods. For more detailed information please click the technical specs tab to see a rod by rod breakdown.

The Okuma PCH Custom Spinning Popping Rods are designed specifically for West Coast anglers. The PCH Custom is lightweight and sensitive with enough strength and backbone to get fish to the boat, making it the perfect choice for popping and surface lure fishing.
The backbone to the PCH Custom rods is the patented blank construction process, called Unidirectional Fiber Reinforcement or UFR-II. This patented process blends unidirectional fiber over 24-ton carbon in the extended tip section of the rod to increase lifting strength and power. UFR-II provides strength without sacrificing sensitivity, so anglers can feel the lightest of bites while having the power to battle trophy fish.
