Tackle Express Tips

• Color-code your storage system. Use one size/color consistently for trebles on crankbaits and another for single hooks on swimbaits. After a few trips it becomes muscle memory — you'll cap and uncap without thinking about it.
• Cap both hooks on a two-hook lure. A jerkbait with the rear hook capped and the front hook exposed is still a snag waiting to happen. Cap every exposed hook on the lure before dropping it in the bag.
• Keep a handful in your fanny pack or chest pack. Hooks get damaged or swapped on the water. Having a few spare caps in your pack means you can cap a replacement hook immediately rather than carrying it bare.
