The all-new Penn Fathom II 2-Speed Lever Drag Reels take a class leading reel and raise the bar even more. New models, sizing, features and optimized billfish models round out the assortment to give a model for every application. Integrating the palm side plate and frame allows the Fathom II Lever Drag reels to be more compact in hand, reduce weight, and increase strength, while the Pull-to-Turn preset knobs allows the angler to truly set it, and forget it. All new cosmetics also bring eye appeal to these reels, and will truly match any rod or boat.
Attention: Penn changed the handle on the 2-Speed Fathoms from the power handle to a football handle. They also removed the ported sections of the handle to make it stronger. We have mixed stock due to this, some have the power handle and some have the football handle. The Daiwa Seagate Conventional Reel is an incredible reel considering the low price and great features. Boasting 20lbs of drag, this reel was designed with big, hard fighting fish in mind. The aluminum spool and light, yet strong, composite frame is perfect spending the entire day on the water.
We like this reel for several reasons. For the price, you just won't find a better, more reliable reel. The large handle and metal star drag is smooth and clicks when you turn it. The clicking is nice because it lets you know if you've accidentally turned the drag while on a fish and secures the star so it doesn't move under vibration from the boat. The incredible drag this puppy puts out is excellent allowing braid line to top shots that are far heavier than the designers intended. We spool it up with 65-80lb braid and top shots up to 80lbs which makes this reel a serious contender for bigger fish.
The castability is great with the Seagate and can be use for both a live bait rod and a jig stick. It's excellent for tuna, grouper, yellowtail, rockfish, white seabass, or any other medium to small game species. Pick one up today and get on the water!!!
