Castaic Lake Fishing Report 12/04/2021
Largemouth Bass:
Solid fishing on tap for both numbers and size. High winds continue to be an issue on some days. The dropshot rigged with a 2.8 Keitech Fat Swing Impact swimbait and the C3 Baits Shimmy in Neptune Shad on the finesse Carolina rig remain the go-to presentations in the twenty foot zone. The Ski Arm seems to have the bigger concentration of fish and bait as there has been an algae bloom (Shad food) for the past few months. Quality Largemouth continue to be caught on glide baits for anglers targeting main lake points and bluffs.
Striped Bass:
Another Trout plant early in the week saw fish in the five to ten pound range active on Trout imitations like Lunker Punkers, Huddlestons and Spro BBZ-1 swimbaits. A few bigger models pushing twenty pounds were caught as well. Smaller Stripers to three pounds are still hitting Alabama rigs and Yak Flies trolled on lead core line with a few bigger fish mixed in. Casting small swimbaits like the Keitech 3.8 Fat Swing Impact and the Basstrix in Shad patterns at depths up to thirty feet has been effective as well.
