The Owner Ringed Mutu Circle Hook is the leader in circle hooks. As with any circle hook, never set the hook. If you get bit, point the rod tip at the fish and wind until you feel the rod load up. Then raise the rod tip slowly and hang on!

The welded ring on these hooks gives you the added security you need when fighting big fish. The barb is significant in size giving you the confidence you need to keep the fish from coming unbuttoned. Owner Mutu Circle Hooks are made using a 2X strong shank. They are rated for use up to 50lb test line. This is the preferred hook for tuna fishing in Southern California on small grade fish, say up to 60 pounds.  

This medium diameter hook doesn't damage the bait as much as a thicker hook, this allows the bait to swim more freely.  Sometimes reducing the hook size will produce more bites and this hook is still very strong even in the smaller sizes.  

Just remember to not swing the rod when you get bit, simply turn the handle on the reel until it comes tight and the line starts ripping off the reel.

Mustad Beak Hooks Model 92677-BR are a short shank live bait hook perfect for anchovies, sardines, mackerel, and strips of squid.  Theses hooks are 3X strong and have an offset shank and a beaked point.  

This beak style hook makes it more difficult for the fish to throw a hook and often sets in the mouth rather than in the gut.  We find it between a circle hook and a regular live bait hook.

Owner Gorilla Light Hooks are the perfect life bait hooks.  A lighter version of our Owner Gorilla hooks for a more natural presentation. Use for rigging smaller live baits like anchovies, or natural baits for snappers and sheephead. Ideal when nose-hooking bait fish for king mackerel rigs.

Gorilla Lights are a short shank all-purpose bait hook. Features include a strong forged shank, Super Needle Point, and a corrosion resistant black chrome finish.

Owner Super Mutu Circle Hooks are made using a super strong, thick shank for catching jumbo fish and using jumbo bait. The Owner Super Mutu Hook is a circle hook designed for very large bait applications when targeting the largest fish the sea has to offer.

Super Mutu Hook Uses

As stated above the Super Mutu hook is a very strong shank hook designed for the biggest game fish in the sea. Some practical techniques that use this hook are:

• 4/0 - 6/0: Live bait such as sardine and mackeral for Yellowfin and Bluefin.
• 6/0 - 11/0: Live Caballito and google eyes in saltwater for Tuna. Also a great Sturgeon hook when using prepared bait.
• 12/0 - 16/0: Live Skipjack and Yellowfin Tuna when targeting the elusive Giant Blue and Black Marlin. Anglers targeting these fish almost unanimously regard the Owner Super Mutu to be the best hook option.
