• Use metered braided line so you know the depth you're fishing.  Listen closely to how deep the captain says the fish are and match that depth with the metered 100ft per color line. 
• If you're dropping the jig in open water and it stops, you're bit so start turn the handle until the rod loads up.  Whatever you do, don't swing the rod you'll pull the lure out of the fishes mouth.
