Β The Shimano Current SniperΒ Jerkbait is designed with Shimano's unique Propulsion Weight Transfer System for exceptional long distance casting - allowing the internal weight to slide back during the cast, and then springing forward when the lure hits the water. Ideal to target both calico bass and Yellowtail in SoCal waters and stripers on the East coast. Β This was previously known as the Coltsniper.
Along with covering lots of water from lengthy casts - up to 22-percent longer than similar weight and length lures, anglers can work theΒ Currentsniper jerkbait in a tight wobble action, or slide action by jerking it. With a slow floating design, it can be fished down to 3 - to 5-foot depths. Chemical finish treble hooks are featured at both mid-body and at the tail.
140mm - 5.5in - 1.13oz
170mm - 6.7in - 1.87oz
We all know longer casts mean more water covered and theΒ Rapala X-Rap Long CastΒ allows you to do just that. Β Rapala has increased the weight of the 14Β size to 1 7/8oz from the original X-Rap which weighs 1 1/2oz. Β That's 3/8oz more weight for approximately 25% additional casting distance. Β If you make 100 casts at 30 feet per cast you'd cover 3000 feet. Β By using the Rapala X-Rap Long Cast, that means you will cover 750 more feet in the same period of time! Β That a lot of acreageΒ covered just by using this lure. Β
We are excited about fishing this long cast version for yellowtail, calico bass, and tuna. Β Often times the fish are boat shy and getting just a few yards more on a cast can make that difference between a good day and a great day. Β They all feature 3X strong VMC single tin hooks for maximum penetration and strength.

Ande Monofilament Leader line is perfect for short or medium size top shots or leaders. Β We like Ande line for it's strength and low memory. Β The abrasion resistance is fantastic reducing the change of breaking off on toothy creatures including bluefin tuna.
The old sayhing about Ande Line is "Andy is dandy because it's rubber-bandy."Β The stretch in this line is amazing and is known as an insurance policy on big fish.Β The more the line stretches, the less chance of it breaking.Β It simply rebounds to it's previous self during the fight.Β That said, after you catch a big fish you should change your leader out.
Lead Masters Hoochie Squid Skirts are 5-inch unrigged squid skirts for saltwater trolling, designed to be customized by the angler for a wide range of species and rig configurations. The soft squid skirt body and tentacle action on the troll make hoochies one of the most versatile and proven trolling lure styles for Tuna, Salmon, Yellowtail, and other pelagic species. Because they are unrigged, you can rig them on your preferred hook, leader, and hardware to match your target species and trolling setup. 5 per pack. Available in 7 colors including a Glow Red option for low-light and deep water applications.
Key Features
- 5" Squid Skirt Profile β Versatile Trolling Action β The 5-inch body length matches the profile of small squid and baitfish that Tuna, Salmon, and other pelagic species key on; the soft skirt tentacles flutter and pulse on the troll, producing a lifelike squid swimming action at a wide range of trolling speeds; effective from slow salmon trolling speeds (2β3 knots) through faster tuna trolling speeds (5β8 knots).
- Unrigged β Fully Customizable β The hoochie skirts are unrigged, allowing the angler to rig them on their preferred hook size, leader material, and hardware; rig on a single hook for salmon, a double hook for tuna, or thread onto a jig head for a weighted presentation; the unrigged format also allows the skirts to be used as trailers on existing lures and jigs.
- 7 Colors Including Glow Red β Pink Blue, Purple/Black, Silver Blue, Yellow/Blue, Yellow/Orange, Green/Black, and Glow Red; the Glow Red option charges under UV light for low-light and deep water trolling applications where a luminescent skirt provides a visibility advantage.
- 5 Per Pack β Five skirts per pack; provides multiple skirts for rigging different hook configurations or replacing skirts that are damaged during fishing.

- Trailer on Jigs & Lures β Thread the hoochie skirt onto a jig head or existing lure as a trailer to add squid skirt action and color to the presentation; effective on iron jigs, hex heads, and swimbait heads as a skirted trailer.
Seaguar Pink Labelβ’ 100% fluorocarbon leader material is made from exclusive Seaguar resins. Pink Label is soft and supple with superior strength, abrasion resistance and minimal stretch. It's also lightweight and buoyant, so it can cast farther and perform better underwater than other fluorocarbon lines.Β
The pink color is one of the first colors to disappear in water making it even more invisible than other colored or non colored lines.Β We have had bites where they would only bite pink label, it's worth a try if you haven't already.
The Halco Max 190 Lure offers superior performance with its slimΒ minnow design, enabling jigging, casting, or trolling up to 20 knots with minimal drag. Its slim tail section ensures greater hook visibility and efficiency on the strike. This lure is a top-of-the-line solution for any angler.

Seaguar Blue Label Fluorocarbon is necessary for many big game applications and the 30 meter coil is the perfect amount to either cut smaller leaders or use the entire roll. Β The heavy line should be crimped using aluminum crimps to ensure a strong connection on shorter leaders and hollow braid should be used for longer leaders. Seaguar Blue Label Fluorocarbon is strong and reliable, offering maximum durability in whatever setting you're fishing. With its abrasion resistance and high tensile and knot strength, you can trust it to deliver professional-grade, reliable performance.
The Izorline Rod Belt with GimballΒ is designed with local tuna in mind. Β We find that the added padding is very comfortable but not bulky. Β The stitching is heavy duty and all the materials are made to stand up to the harshest fishing environments. Β Some have the gimbal pin and some don't but the picture shows which is which. Β
Some ask why wouldn't you want the gimbal pin. Β The answer is that you have more freedom of movement without the pin but on bigger fish, the pin acts like aΒ fulcrum point and makes pumping the rod easier. Β If you use the gimbal pin, make sure your rod has a gimbal on the butt.
The Izorline Kidney HarnessΒ stand-up style harness with nylon webbing, quick release straps, and insulatedΒ cushioning. Comes in a medium width or a wide width for maximum pulling power and comfort. Made with "D" rings for drop strap.
TheΒ Izorline FishΒ Ruler DecalΒ for California is something all private boaters and pier fisherman should have. Β It shows the length in inches and allows you to enter the legal size per fish in the blank spaces.Β This is done just in case the regulations change, you can change the decal accordingly.Β Β
The vinyl sticker is waterproof and UV resistant and will last for many years.Β Make sure you are legal with this fish measuring tape that acts like a ruler on your boat, cooler, or any surface you need to attach it to. Before applying, make sure the surface is clean and dry.Β
Measures: 3 1/2" x 36"
The Halco Roosta PopperΒ 135 is perfect for targeting game fish that are aggressively Β attacking bait fish near or on the surface. Β The hardware on these poppers is of the highest quality and will stand up to big fish like tuna, GT's, dorado, and peacock bass. They are best used with a heavy spinning rod and reel due to the higher inches of line retrieved per crank. Β We prefer to have braided line with a short 3' top shot of monofilament or fluorocarbon.
While designed with a blooping style retrieve in mind, the Roosta Haymaker can be simply wound in at speed or trolled for excellent results. The recommended method of retrieval for best results is to point the rod tip at the lure, retrieve any slack line and firmly sweep the rod tip in a downward motion approximately 45 degrees. Allow the lure to rest for several seconds and if a fish hasn't taken the lure repeat as necessary.

One Composite Blank Family, 20 lb to 200 lb
Phenix Axis Conventional Rods are built from a composite blend of S-Glass and T-16 carbon fiber with multi-helix construction β a layup Phenix developed for the strength-to-weight demands of Southern California saltwater. The series runs fourteen models from 7'2" to 8', covering everything from a 20-40 lb flylined bait stick to an 80-200 lb rail rod, so you can build an entire spread out of one blank family.
Why Anglers Reach for the Axis
Glass gives you forgiveness and lifting power. Carbon gives you the light weight and responsiveness to fish all day and feel the bite. Most rods pick one. Every blank in the Axis series blends both, which is why the line diameter stays thin for the line class β you get castability that pure glass can't match and a backbone that pure graphite gives up.
The Problem With Single-Material Blanks
An all-graphite conventional rod feels great until a fish sounds under the boat and you need sustained lifting power β then it either folds or snaps. An all-glass rod will lift anything but casts like a broomstick and wears you out by mid-morning. Multi-helix composite construction wraps both materials so the blank resists twisting under angled pressure, which is the exact load a conventional rod sees when a fish runs down the side of the boat.
What Sets It Apart
- S-Glass and T-16 carbon fiber composite in every model
- Multi-helix construction engineered for saltwater loads
- Thin blank diameter for the line class across the whole range
- Fourteen models, 7'2" to 8', spanning 20-40 lb through 80-200 lb
- Extended-foregrip rail configurations available in the heavier classes
- Includes the 7'6" 50-100 lb Guadalupe Special
The Right Pick Ifβ¦
- You fish SoCal sport boats, overnight trips, or long range
- You want one blank family covering inshore through offshore instead of a mismatched rack
- You want composite forgiveness without a telephone-pole blank
- You'd rather buy a rod rated honestly to your line class than overbuy
Choosing Your Model
- Medium Heavy, 20-40 lb (HAX-720MH, HAX-780MH): Flylined sardine and mackerel, inshore yellowtail, calico bass, white seabass. This is the bait stick, not a rail rod.
- Heavy, 25-60 lb (HAX-720H, HAX-780H): Larger baits, yo-yo iron, bigger yellowtail and school-grade tuna.
- Extra Heavy, 30-80 lb (HAX-720XH, HAX-780XH): Heavy iron and mid-grade tuna. The top of the range you can comfortably fish off the rod rather than off the rail.
- 2X Heavy, 40-100 lb (HAX-720X2H, HAX-760X2H Guadalupe Special, HAX-780X2H): Where the rail tier starts. Extended foregrip, built for bluefin off the rail.
- 3X Heavy, 60-130 lb (HAX-720X3H, HAX-760X3H, HAX-800X3H): Long-range bluefin. The 8'0" gives you the most blank outside the rail.
- 4X Heavy, 80-200 lb (HAX-C720X4H, HAX-760X4H): Top of the series. Cow-grade bluefin and the heaviest long-range work.
Why the Heavy Models Are So Long
On a rail rod, a large share of the length is foregrip. Once that foregrip is laid on the rail, you may have only four or five feet of blank actually fighting the fish. The more rod you have outside the rail on the water side, the more the fish has to work against β and the fulcrum becomes the boat instead of your arms and back. That's why the 2X Heavy and above run long, and why length on those models isn't about casting distance.
Best Techniques
- Flylined bait: Medium Heavy and Heavy models β enough tip to cast a live sardine, enough backbone to turn a yellowtail out of the kelp
- Yo-yo iron: Heavy and Extra Heavy β handles the load of ripping heavy iron up off the bottom all day
- Rail fishing: 2X Heavy and up β brace the extended foregrip on the rail and let the boat do the lifting
- Heavy live bait and kite: 3X and 4X Heavy β the 130 lb and 200 lb classes
Best Conditions
- Inshore kelp and structure where you have to turn a fish fast β lighter classes
- Offshore and overnight sport boat trips β mid classes
- Long range and Guadalupe Island grounds β 2X Heavy and up
- Any situation where fighting a fish off the rail beats fighting it off your arms

Tackle Express Tips
- Buy for the trip you actually book: If you're fishing half-days and overnights inshore, the Medium Heavy and Heavy do the job. The rail classes only earn their money on long range and heavy bluefin.
- Length on the heavy models is about the rail, not casting: The 7'6" and 8'0" heavy blanks aren't for bombing baits β they're for keeping blank on the water side of the rail during a fight.
- Match your line to the rating on the blank: A 40-100 lb rod fished with 130 lb line isn't a 130 lb rod. Fish it honestly and the composite does what it was designed to do.
FAQ
Which Axis models are rail rods?
The 2X Heavy class and above β 40-100 lb, 60-130 lb, and 80-200 lb. Those get the extended foregrip designed to brace against the boat's rail. The Medium Heavy, Heavy, and Extra Heavy models are conventional rods fished off the rod, not off the rail.
What does the S-Glass and T-16 carbon blend actually do?
S-Glass adds forgiveness and lifting power under sustained load. T-16 carbon fiber keeps the blank light and responsive. Multi-helix construction wraps the material so the blank resists twisting under angled pressure. Every model in the series uses the same blend.
How do these ship?
Every rod is wrapped in bubble wrap at the crucial points and suspended inside a thick rod tube so it can't be crushed or knocked around in transit. Note that rods over 8' do not qualify for free shipping.
