Available in clear blue (Medium) and clear black (Large) So, what sets our Toit Fishing Tether or Tool Lanyards apart from the rest of the pack? We have opted for M3.5 Stainless Steel Quicklinks rather than the normal carabiner as these have less areas for sand, grit and dirt to affect the functionality of the connection.
The clear TPU coil is Ø4mm and makes every effort to return to its original shape unlike some of the 1mm to 2mm diameter coils. The Tether has a Stainless Steel cable coated in either clear blue or clear black Thermoplastic Polyurethane Elastomer to form a Ø4mm Coil Tether. It's perfectly suited for all our Toit 6" Pliers, our Toit Leather Sheath and our Toit Pliers Holders.
Features:
- Clear Blue Tether TPU coated wire, 10" retracted length, 36 inch extended length
- Clear Black Tether TPU coated wire, 14" retracted length, 69 inch extended length
- Stainless Steel M3.5 Quicklinks
- Designed to cope with extremes of salt water fishing
- Aluminium crimps with vinyl caps
- Designed to fit the Toit Leather Sheath, Toit Pliers Holder and 6" Pliers (Sold Separately)
- Ø4mm Thremoplastic Polyurethane coated coil Stainless Steel cable, with superior elastic coil
The PK-7 is what you throw when you want to change who shows up. Seven inches and 1.3 ounces of paddle-tail profile — it doesn't out-fish the PK-5 on numbers, and it isn't supposed to. It calls up a different class of fish.
Short version: 7", 1.3 oz, two baits per pack, weedless on an 8/0 hook. Bigger meal, heavier gear, fewer bites, better fish.
When to Size Up
The PK-5 matches what calicos eat most of the year. The PK-7 doesn't try to — it deliberately over-matches the bait in the water, and that's the point. Reasons to reach for it:
- The bait in the water is genuinely big. Full-size mackerel and larger smelt on the surface means a 5" bait is the small option, not the natural one.
- You're culling for size. A big profile filters out the small ones and pulls fish that were ignoring your other bait.
- Yellowtail are in the mix. A 7" bait is a reasonable meal for a yellow in a way a 5" isn't.
- Dirty or deep water. When visibility drops, displacement matters more than detail, and this bait moves considerably more water.
What It Takes to Fish It
This is not a light-tackle bait. A 1.3 oz bait on a 3/4 oz head is over two ounces before the fish shows up. Fish it on a rod with the backbone to load and cast that, and enough tip left to still work the bait — a light swimbait stick will fold on the cast and you'll never get the distance or the hookset.
Match an 8/0 hook to the body. Run the point up through the belly so it sits flush in the slot — buried too deep costs hookups, riding proud costs the weedless advantage. At this hook size the gap is generous, and getting it seated straight matters more than it does on the smaller baits.
The plastisol is the same firm formula as the rest of the line: slightly less tail flutter than the softest baits on the shelf, considerably more fish per bait. At two per pack, that durability is doing real work on your cost per trip.
On an Umbrella Rig
Five PK-7s is a heavy package — roughly 6.5 oz of plastic before you add heads. It builds the biggest school in the Pickle Kick lineup and it demands a rod to match.
| What you need | Quantity | Packs to buy |
|---|---|---|
| PK-7 swimbaits | 5 (one per arm) | 3 packs — 6 baits, 1 spare |
| Swing heads, bottom two arms | 2 × 3/4 oz | 1 pack |
| Swing heads, top three arms | 3 × 1/2 oz | 2 packs |
| The rig itself | 1 | 1 PK-Rig |
Straight talk: a five-arm PK-7 rig is the most expensive and most demanding build in this lineup. If it's your first umbrella rig, build it with PK-5s and save this configuration for when you know the rig swims right and your rod can handle it.
Our crew wrote a photo-by-photo guide covering the arm bend, keel weighting, bait sizing by location, and how to keep five arms of hooks out of every other rod in the rack.
Read the full umbrella rig setup guide →Picking a Color
At this size, profile is doing most of the work and color is doing less than it does on a 5" bait. What still matters is contrast against the water:
| Conditions | What to reach for |
|---|---|
| Clear water, bright sun | Natural baitfish patterns — mackerel and smelt tones. |
| Green or stained water | Darker backs that hold a silhouette from below. |
| Dirty water, low light, deep | Solid, high-contrast colors. The profile is the message. |
Pro Tips from the Tackle Express Crew
- Give it a full day before you judge it. The PK-7 gets fewer bites than the PK-5 by design. Switching back after an hour of quiet is how most anglers never find out what it does.
- Slow down further than you think. A big bait moving fast reads as wrong. The tail loads up at a crawl.
- Match the head to the depth, not to the bait's size. A 1.3 oz bait doesn't automatically want a heavy head — use the lightest one that holds your zone.
- Check your rod before you buy the pack. Two ounces of bait and head on an under-gunned stick is a bad cast and a worse hookset.
Common Mistakes
- Undersizing the hook. This body takes an 8/0. A 5/0 from your PK-5 box will not clear it on the hookset.
- Fishing it on PK-5 tackle. The single most common reason this bait disappoints people.
- Throwing it when the bait in the water is small. Over-matching is a deliberate tactic, not a default. When the fish are keyed on 3" bait, size down.
- Buying two packs for an umbrella rig. Two per pack, five arms. You need three.

Frequently Asked Questions
How many baits come in a pack?
Two.
What hook size does the PK-7 take?
8/0. The 4/0 and 5/0 hooks that fit a PK-5 will not clear this body.
Why does a pack cost less than a pack of PK-5s?
Because it holds two baits instead of four. Per bait, the PK-7 is $8.50 against the PK-5's $4.75.
PK-5 or PK-7?
PK-5 is the everyday size and matches what calicos eat most of the year. Go PK-7 when the bait in the water is genuinely big, when you're culling for size, when yellowtail are in the mix, or when visibility is poor and you need displacement.
What rod do I need for it?
Enough backbone to load and cast two-plus ounces of bait and head, with enough tip left to work the bait and drive an 8/0 hook. A light swimbait rod will fold on the cast.
What jig head weight should I use?
Match the head to the depth you're fishing, not to the bait's size. Use the lightest head that holds your zone — too much weight drags the nose down and kills the tail.
How many packs do I need for a five-arm umbrella rig?
Three. Five arms, two baits per pack — you'll finish with one spare.
Is it weedless?
Yes, when the hook point sits flush in the body slot. That's what lets it come through kelp and rock without loading up.
Gear That Goes With It
- Warbaits Neck Breaker Swing Head — 3/4 oz and 1 oz are the pairings for this bait.
- Kicker PK-Rig Umbrella Rig — five-arm rig with quick clips.
- Kicker Pickle Kick PK-5 — the everyday 5" size.
- Kicker Pickle Kick PK-3 — harbor and bay size.
- Kicker Booty Spin — same body with a spinning blade instead of a paddle tail.
Buy It From People Who Fish It
We sell Southern California saltwater tackle from our shop on Soledad Canyon Road in Santa Clarita, and we fish these baits on the same water you do. Not sure whether your rod will throw a PK-7, or whether you should be sizing up at all? Call us or come in — we'd rather talk you into the right size than sell you the big one twice.
The PK-5 is the size most calico bass are eating most of the year. Five inches of paddle-tail profile — big enough to move water and get noticed over structure, small enough that a fish doesn't have to think about it.
Short version: 5", half an ounce, four baits per pack, weedless through a 4/0 or 5/0 hook. This is the workhorse in the Pickle Kick lineup and the default choice for open water, boiler rock, and umbrella rig arms.
What It Does in the Water
The body shape and tail were developed through computational fluid dynamics testing, which in practice means the tail kicks at slow speeds instead of needing to be burned to come alive. That matters over structure, where you want the bait crawling through the zone rather than racing past it.
The plastisol is on the firm side of soft. It costs you a little tail action compared to the softest baits on the shelf, and it buys you fish per bait — a calico that would shred a soft plastic in one grab tends to leave this one fishable.
Rigged on a swing head or a weighted EWG, the hook point tucks into the body slot and the bait comes through kelp stringers and rock without loading up.
Where It Earns Its Keep
- Slow-rolling boiler rock and kelp at Catalina and the outer islands — the bread-and-butter calico presentation.
- Open water over schooling bait, where the 5" profile matches most of what's swimming.
- Surf fishing on a lighter head, worked through troughs and along structure.
- Umbrella rig arms — the standard bait for a five-arm A-rig. See below.
Rigging It
Match a 4/0 or 5/0 hook to the body. Run the point up through the belly and out the top so it sits in the slot — buried too deep and you lose hookups, sitting too proud and you lose the weedless advantage.
Head weight sets the fall speed and the depth you can hold. A Warbaits Neck Breaker Swing Head in 1/2 oz is the general-purpose pairing; drop to 1/4 oz for shallow calm water, go 3/4 or 1 oz for deeper structure and current.
How many packs a five-arm umbrella rig takes
| What you need | Quantity | Packs to buy |
|---|---|---|
| PK-5 swimbaits | 5 (one per arm) | 2 packs — 8 baits, 3 spare |
| Swing heads, bottom two arms | 2 × 1/2 oz | 1 pack |
| Swing heads, top three arms | 3 × 1/4 oz | 2 packs |
| The rig itself | 1 | 1 PK-Rig |
Buy the baits in one color if you want the school to read as one school. Some anglers run four matching and one odd bait as a target — both work, and two packs covers either.
Our crew wrote a photo-by-photo guide covering the arm bend, keel weighting, bait sizing by location, and how to keep five arms of hooks out of every other rod in the rack.

Color names are fun and mostly not the point. What matters is contrast against the water you're in:
| Conditions | What to reach for |
|---|---|
| Clear water, bright sun | Natural baitfish patterns — translucent, silver, sardine and smelt tones. |
| Green or stained water | Darker backs and green-brown bodies that hold a silhouette. |
| Dirty water, low light, deep | High-contrast and solid colors. Profile beats detail once visibility drops. |
| Fish keyed on a specific bait | Match it — mackerel, smelt, and perch patterns are in the lineup for a reason. |
Pro Tips from the Tackle Express Crew
- Slow down. The tail works at a crawl. Most anglers fish this bait faster than it wants to be fished and never see what it does.
- Keep the hook point in the slot. Buried in the plastic costs you hookups; riding proud costs you the weedless advantage. It should sit flush.
- Re-seat it after every few fish. The bait slides down the shank and starts running crooked long before it looks damaged.
- Buy two colors, not five. One natural and one dark covers most SoCal days better than a box of one-offs.
Common Mistakes
- Too much head for the depth. A heavy head drags the nose down and kills the tail. Use the lightest head that holds your zone.
- Wrong hook size. Under 4/0 and the gap won't clear the body on the hookset.
- Buying one pack for an umbrella rig. Four per pack, five arms. One pack leaves you an arm short.
- Fishing a torn bait because it still looks fine. A split at the hook slot lets the bait spin, and a spinning bait twists your line.

Frequently Asked Questions
How many baits come in a pack?
Four.
What hook size does the PK-5 take?
4/0 or 5/0. Anything smaller and the gap won't clear the body on the hookset.
What jig head weight should I use?
1/2 oz covers most calico fishing. Drop to 1/4 oz in shallow calm water; go 3/4 or 1 oz for depth and current. Use the lightest head that holds your zone.
Is it weedless?
Yes, when the hook point sits flush in the body slot. That's what lets it come through kelp and rock without loading up.
How many packs do I need for a five-arm umbrella rig?
Two. Five arms, four baits per pack — you'll finish with three spares, which you will use.
PK-3, PK-5, or PK-7 — which one?
PK-5 is the everyday size and matches what calicos eat most of the year. Drop to the PK-3 inside harbors and bays when the bait is small. Go PK-7 when you want a bigger meal and you're on a rod that can throw it.
Can I use it in freshwater?
Yes. It's a saltwater bait by design and market, but the same slow-roll presentation works on largemouth.
How long does one bait last?
Depends entirely on what eats it. The plastisol is firmer than most soft baits specifically so a fish doesn't end the bait's day in one grab, but no soft plastic is permanent — change it when the hook slot splits.

The Halco Max 220 Lure is a massive 220mm long and weighs a substantial 180 grams and its slender profile casts like a bullet into the strongest breezes. It has been designed to run straight and true several meters below the surface in the roughest of sea conditions. The streamlined design allows for high operating speeds and maximum hook exposure, so critical in lure design.
Max’s effective operating envelope is exceptional, ranging from a fast hand retrieve to a racy 14 knots while trolling. You can troll it up to 21 knots but there is no need to troll it that fast. That just demonstrates that it can be trolled fast and has a nice tight wobble.
Like all Halco lures, Max is constructed out of high tech polymers and has been built with strength and durability in mind. Heavy duty Halco Fish Rings and 2 extra strong Mustad hooks are standard equipment on Max and it is available in nine fish catching colors.

The Submission Fishing Jigs Sumo is so versatile that when it's tied on the eye side, the heavy belly of the jig will slide through the water column allowing you to fish underneath docks, pilings, and other hard to reach places. When tied from the belly side, it will have a more traditional vertical fall. With a wobbling, leaf-like action, the squat, round-belly shape of this jig falls into the depths of the ocean to entice saltwater bay bass as well as many others. The Sumo's compact design also allows you to use a heavier jig in a smaller presentation for precision fishing. Perfect for fishing shallow docks or 60 ft of kelp beds (the 40 and 60g are perfect for kelp) with a heavy tide swing.
Submission Jigs The Sumo comes in 20g, 40g, and 60g.
All jigs feature BKK assist hooks with UV tassels and heavy duty split rings.
Submission Fishing Jigs Mercenary is effective in many conditions. Whether you're casting out on a boat for pelagic, vertical fishing for bass off the docks, or casting from shore, the Slow Death Mercenary jig can be very productive. This jig's unique shape produces a fluttering, twirling action on the fall and an erratic swimming action on the retrieve. It can be fished vertically or cast and retrieved. It’s the ultimate dying baitfish imitator, and greedy fish won’t be able to resist.
Submission Jigs Mercenary comes in 20g, 40g, and 60g.
All jigs feature BKK assist hooks with UV tassels and heavy duty split rings.
Jig was renamed to Mercenary in March of 2024.

Perfect for large tuna and big bottom fish!

Unlike most traditional tear-drop jigs, it has a distinct flat shape on one side and a tear-drop convex shape on the other which produces the long horizontal slide when slow pitching or long falling the jig. These jigs get right to where your fish are waiting, whether you’re targeting tuna and bonito or rockfish and sand bass.
